Short answer: Aura is the better fit if you want data-broker removal bundled with identity and credit monitoring, identity-theft insurance, device security and family features. Incogni is the better fit if recurring broker removals are your main objective, particularly when you need custom requests on an Unlimited plan. No available independent head-to-head test proves that one service removes more information or “performs” better overall.
Aura vs Incogni: the practical difference
These services overlap on personal-data removal, but they are built around different jobs. Aura presents removal as one part of a broad protection suite. Its current official pricing page lists removal from 425+ data brokers and related sources, alongside identity-theft protection, three-bureau credit monitoring, identity-theft insurance, antivirus, a VPN, a password manager and family tools.

Incogni is centered on recurring data-broker requests. Its Standard plan automates removals, while Unlimited adds custom requests handled by privacy specialists, including sites outside Standard’s automated coverage. Incogni also sells an optional Protect package that combines removal with continuous monitoring and identity-theft recovery support.
That difference matters more than a headline broker count. Choose the service that matches the problem you are trying to solve rather than treating them as interchangeable removal products.

What Aura is designed to do
Removal inside a larger security bundle
Aura’s official pricing page positions personal-data removal alongside identity and device protection. The listed removal targets include data brokers, people-search sites, junk-mailers and Google search results. The 425+ figure is Aura’s advertised coverage claim, not a count independently verified as successful removals for every customer.
The same page lists three-bureau credit monitoring, identity alerts and identity-theft protection. It also lists an identity-theft insurance benefit. Insurance is governed by the underlying policy, including its terms, conditions, limits and exclusions; the headline limit should not be read as unconditional cash coverage. Read the policy document for the state or country in which you live.
Device and account tools
Antivirus, a VPN and a password manager make Aura relevant to readers who want one subscription for several defensive controls. Those tools address malware, network privacy and credential management, while removal addresses exposure in broker and search databases. They do not turn a removal request into a guarantee that every copy of your information disappears.

Family considerations
Aura’s plan page describes family features, but the exact household structure and feature limits depend on the selected plan. Before paying, confirm how many adults and children are included, whether credit monitoring applies to each person, and whether insurance or security tools have separate eligibility rules.
What Incogni is designed to do
Automated recurring removals
Incogni Standard automates data-removal requests. Recurring handling is useful because brokers can repopulate profiles after an earlier deletion, and a one-time request does not create a permanent shield. The service’s results still depend on whether a broker is covered, can match your identity accurately, and is legally required or willing to process the request in your location.
Custom removals on Unlimited
Incogni Unlimited adds custom removals handled by privacy specialists. This is the clearest differentiator for people who discover a particular site, directory or broker that is not handled by Standard. Unlimited does not mean every website is guaranteed to comply. Confirm the current definition of a custom request, any submission limits, and the evidence Incogni requires before choosing the tier.
Family Unlimited
Incogni’s Family plan covers the subscriber plus four additional members. Family Unlimited gives each covered member access to custom removals. That structure may be easier to calculate than a plan that counts only the account holder, but compare the final household price and feature scope rather than assuming every family member receives identical benefits under every plan.

Incogni’s Help Center describes Protect as “Incogni’s most comprehensive plan, combining personal data removal, continuous monitoring, and identity theft recovery support into a single service.” Protect is an optional package, not a claim that ordinary automated removal includes every monitoring or recovery feature.
Protect is available only to residents of the United States, including U.S. territories and Washington, DC. Residents of New York and Washington can access the service benefits except for insurance. If you live elsewhere, verify current eligibility before purchase; Incogni’s country guidance says removal scope can differ by location.
Which one removes more of your information?
No reliable published evidence establishes a brand winner. Aura’s pricing page advertises 425+ covered brokers and related sources. Aura’s June 2026 comparison page describes Incogni Unlimited as covering 420+ brokers. Incogni’s own comparison page says Aura claims 425+ but characterizes Aura’s published list as featuring only 200+ entries.
Those figures come from vendor pages using different definitions, list dates and presentation methods. “Covered” may mean a broker is on a submission list, not that a request succeeded, that every record was found, or that the data stayed deleted. A raw total therefore cannot establish which service removes more of your information.

A 2025 empirical paper by Jiahui He, Pete Snyder, Hamed Haddadi, Fabián E. Bustamante and Gareth Tyson illustrates the broader measurement problem. Across the commercial personal-information-removal services studied, only 41.1% of records identified by the services were actually personal information about the study participants. That is category-level evidence, not an Aura-versus-Incogni score, and it should not be used to claim that either named service achieves a particular success rate.
Does Incogni have custom removals?
Yes. Incogni Unlimited includes custom removals handled by privacy specialists, and Family Unlimited extends that access to each covered family member. Standard is the automated tier. If your concern is a specific directory or broker outside automated coverage, Unlimited is the plan to investigate.
Ask three questions before subscribing: what qualifies as a custom request, how many requests can be open at once, and how progress is reported. Incogni’s plan description confirms the feature exists but does not establish a universal success guarantee or a permanent deletion outcome for every site.
Is Aura worth paying more for identity protection?
It can be, when you would otherwise buy several separate controls. Aura lists credit monitoring across all three bureaus, identity-theft protection, insurance, antivirus, VPN, password management and family features in addition to removal. A household that needs those capabilities may value the bundle even if removal alone is not the primary goal.
If you only want recurring broker requests, paying for unused monitoring, insurance or device tools may be poor value. Incogni’s narrower scope can be the more rational choice, especially on Unlimited when custom requests matter. Compare like with like: an Aura plan that includes a household and insurance is not directly comparable with an individual Incogni Standard subscription.
Geography, legal rights and eligibility
Incogni says it submits requests under applicable privacy and consumer-protection laws, including the GDPR, UK GDPR, California Consumer Privacy Act and Canada’s PIPEDA. The legal basis affects what a broker must do, the identity checks it may require and the time allowed for a response. Removal coverage can therefore differ by country, state and even the type of record involved.
Check Incogni’s current supported-country article immediately before signing up. Do not assume that a plan available in one country has the same broker list, legal process or response time in another.
Aura’s published pages do not provide a complete country-by-country matrix for its removal feature. If you are outside the market shown during Aura checkout, confirm eligibility and the applicable insurance policy before entering payment details.
How to compare prices without being misled
Published prices are a dated snapshot, not a permanent rate card. Aura’s comparison page uses an annual figure associated with a special discount link, while its pricing page presents live plan pricing and features. Incogni pages show multiple plan types and pricing contexts, and a June 2026 TechRadar comparison reports Aura prices in that review. These figures may differ because of term length, household size, introductory discounts and the page’s access date.
Best Value
Use this process for an honest comparison:
- Choose the same billing period for both services, such as monthly versus annual.
- Enter the same number of adults and children required by your household.
- Select equivalent scope: individual versus family, Standard versus Unlimited, and any Protect or insurance add-on.
- Record the final checkout amount, renewal amount and refund terms on the day you subscribe.
- Read exclusions for insurance, monitoring and recovery benefits before treating them as part of the price.
Never carry a promotional annual figure forward as a stable list price. If a discount link is required, note that condition beside the amount and check whether the rate renews at a different price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing between Aura and Incogni by use case
Choose Aura when identity protection is the main problem
- You want credit monitoring, identity alerts and insurance in the same service as data removal.
- You also need antivirus, a VPN or password management and prefer one household account.
- You are willing to evaluate policy exclusions and plan-specific family limits.
Choose Incogni Standard when recurring removal is enough
- Your priority is automated broker requests rather than credit or device protection.
- You do not need specialist-handled requests for an individual site.
- Your location is supported and the Standard coverage matches the types of brokers you are trying to address.
Choose Incogni Unlimited when a named site is your obstacle
- You have found directories or brokers outside the automated scope.
- You want privacy specialists to submit custom requests.
- You are comparing a household and need each member to have custom-removal access through Family Unlimited.
Consider Incogni Protect only where its limits fit
- You live in the United States or an eligible U.S. territory.
- You want continuous monitoring and identity-theft recovery support in addition to removal.
- You understand that New York and Washington residents receive the listed benefits except insurance.
A practical pre-purchase checklist
Write down the result you want before opening either checkout page. “Remove my address from a particular people-search site” points toward custom handling. “Alert me to new credit activity and help if my identity is stolen” points toward a broader protection suite. “Cover two adults and three children” makes household eligibility and per-person limits decisive.
Then verify the following on the current provider pages:
- Supported country, state or territory and the legal basis used for requests.
- Which data categories are submitted, such as names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
- Whether the plan is automated only or includes specialist custom requests.
- Number of people covered and which features each person receives.
- Billing term, introductory price, renewal price and refund policy.
- Insurance limits, exclusions, residency rules and the identity-theft claims process.
- How the dashboard shows submitted, pending, completed or rejected requests.
Save a copy of the terms shown at checkout. Coverage lists and plan inclusions can change, and a dated record lets you distinguish a later product change from an unfinished request.
What results should you expect?
Removal is a process, not an instant deletion button. A service may need to verify that a record belongs to you, send a legally valid request, wait for the broker’s response and repeat the process when information reappears. Some sites publish public records that are subject to different rules, while others may be outside the provider’s contractual or legal reach.
Successful removal from one broker also does not erase copies held by another broker, a search engine cache or a public agency. Use the service’s status information to identify unresolved sources, and submit a custom request where your plan permits it. Keep realistic expectations about timing and persistence even when the provider advertises a large coverage list.
Bottom-line decision
For a broad identity, credit, device and household-protection package with removal included, Aura is the closer match. For a focused recurring-removal service, especially when specialist custom requests are important, Incogni Unlimited is the more targeted option. The available evidence does not justify declaring either service the universal 2026 performance winner. Compare the current checkout terms, regional eligibility and exact plan inclusions for your household before deciding.
