Verdict: The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7 is a capable midrange true-wireless earbud set for listeners who want LDAC, adjustable sound, active noise cancellation, two-device multipoint and several eartip sizes. Its main weakness is endurance: Audio-Technica’s maximum figures are substantially higher than the 4 hours 29 minutes SoundGuys measured. Buy it when fit, codec support and app controls matter more to you than class-leading battery life; skip it if you need all-day runtime without charging.
The ATH-TWX7 launched on 17 November 2023 in black, grey and white. The following review separates Audio-Technica’s specifications from independent listening and battery observations so you can judge whether it suits your phone, computer and daily routine.

What the Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7 is
The ATH-TWX7 is a pair of Bluetooth 5.1 true-wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC), ambient-listening modes and support for the LDAC, AAC and SBC codecs. Audio-Technica lists the model’s release date as 17 November 2023 and offers black, grey and white finishes on its official product page.

These specifications describe what the hardware and firmware support, not what every phone will expose. A source device must offer LDAC before the higher-resolution codec can be selected, and some phones revert to AAC or SBC when connection conditions or system settings require it.
Battery life: the number to plan around
Battery endurance is the most important caveat. Audio-Technica rates the earbuds for a maximum of 6.5 hours per charge with ANC on and 20 hours total with the charging case. With ANC off, its maximum figures rise to 7.5 hours per charge and 24 hours including the case. The manufacturer notes that listening conditions affect actual use time; volume, codec, radio conditions and features such as ANC can all change the result.
SoundGuys measured 4 hours 29 minutes of playback in its review test, considerably below the manufacturer’s maximum. That is a measured result from one publication’s test method, not a universal guarantee that every pair will stop at exactly that point. What Hi-Fi? reported approximately 7.5 hours from the earbuds and 24 hours with the case with ANC disabled, which is close to Audio-Technica’s stated maximum for that mode.

For commuting, exercise sessions and ordinary work blocks, the rated figures may be sufficient. For long flights, a full workday of calls or several days away from a charger, plan using the 4-hour-29-minute independent result as the conservative reference. Charging habits matter more here than the headline maximum: top up the case whenever it is convenient rather than waiting for both earbuds to be empty.
Sound quality and equalization
SoundGuys used the ATH-TWX7 for a week and described a secure fit and a bass-focused default presentation. “Bass-focused” does not mean every track will sound muddy; it means the factory tuning gives low frequencies more emphasis than a neutral reference. Listeners who enjoy electronic music, hip-hop or punchy kick drums may like that character immediately, while vocal, acoustic or orchestral listeners may prefer less low-end weight.

The A-T Connect app provides EQ controls, so the default tuning is not your only option. A practical approach is to listen to familiar recordings before changing anything, then make small adjustments rather than moving every band to an extreme. Reducing bass can make speech and guitars appear clearer; a modest treble lift can add perceived detail, while too much treble can make cymbals or sibilants tiring. Exact results depend on your seal, hearing and source device, so treat the app as a way to personalize rather than a guarantee of a particular tonal balance.
LDAC: when it helps
LDAC can carry higher-resolution audio than AAC or SBC, and Audio-Technica lists support up to 96 kHz/24-bit when both the source and playback path support it. That specification does not make every stream sound better automatically. You need a compatible phone or player, LDAC enabled in its Bluetooth settings, and content that benefits from the extra bandwidth. In a busy radio environment, a device may choose a lower LDAC quality setting or fall back to another codec to preserve stability.
On an iPhone or another source that does not offer LDAC, the ATH-TWX7 still works through AAC or SBC. The earbuds therefore remain usable across mixed-device households; LDAC is an advantage for compatible sources, not a requirement for basic listening.
ANC, Hear-Through and Talk-Through
Active noise cancellation is one of the ATH-TWX7’s strongest documented features. SoundGuys called the ANC useful in its week-long review. That observation should be read as a reviewer finding under its conditions, not as a laboratory attenuation figure or a promise that all low-frequency noise will disappear. A proper seal, the noise itself and the fit of your particular ears all influence the result.
Audio-Technica also provides Hear-Through and Talk-Through functions. Hear-Through is intended to let surrounding sound in without removing the earbuds. Talk-Through is designed for brief conversations, reducing the need to take the earbuds out. These modes are useful at a station, office or checkout, but they do not replace ordinary caution around traffic or machinery.

Choosing a call mode
The user manual identifies two modes for the audio delivered to the other caller: Natural Mode and Noise-Reduction Mode. Natural Mode is the less processed choice; Noise-Reduction Mode applies processing intended to reduce environmental noise. Try both in the place where you normally call. A mode that helps in a quiet room may not be the best choice beside a road or a fan, and the person on the other end is the right judge of intelligibility.

SoundGuys reported a secure fit during its testing. Fit remains personal, especially with true-wireless designs, so the included tip range is important. The box contains soft and standard eartips in XS, S, M and L. Start with the size that seals the ear canal without painful pressure, then compare left and right ears rather than assuming they need the same size.
- Choose a tip that sits securely when you open your mouth and move your head.
- Play a familiar track with ANC enabled and compare bass and outside-noise reduction between sizes.
- If one ear sounds thinner or ANC seems weaker, refit that side or use a different size.
- Keep the tips clean and replace worn or stretched pieces; Audio-Technica names the separately sold ER-TW32 soft and ER-TW1 standard tips as replacement options.
The earbuds carry an IPX4 rating. That protects against water splashes under the rating’s test conditions, but it does not make the ATH-TWX7 fully waterproof. Audio-Technica explicitly limits the rating to the earbuds, not the charging case. Wipe away sweat and moisture and keep the case dry; do not submerge either component or treat the set as suitable for swimming.
Bluetooth pairing and two-device multipoint
Bluetooth 5.1 gives the ATH-TWX7 a current baseline connection, while multipoint lets it maintain connections with two devices. That is useful if you move between a phone and a computer: music can come from one device while you remain ready to answer a call from the other. The manual states that multipoint can be enabled or disabled in connected-device management.
A reliable setup sequence
- Charge the earbuds and case, then open the Bluetooth settings on your first source device.
- Put the earbuds into pairing mode according to the English ATH-TWX7 user manual and select the ATH-TWX7 entry.
- Install or open the A-T Connect app if you want EQ, listening-mode and device-management controls. Allow the app to finish its initial connection before changing codec or multipoint settings.
- Pair the second source device through its Bluetooth menu. If the second connection does not appear, disconnect the first source temporarily, pair the second, then reconnect the first.
- Use connected-device management in the app or device controls to confirm that two-device multipoint is enabled. Disable it when you need to dedicate the connection to one source or are troubleshooting dropouts.
Menu names can differ by phone operating system and app version. Multipoint is a connection feature, not simultaneous high-bandwidth playback from two sources; the earbuds still need to hand audio focus from one device to the other.

Using the app without overcomplicating the earbuds
The A-T Connect app is central to the ATH-TWX7’s adjustable character. SoundGuys tested the earbuds with app version 2.0.0 and firmware 1002. Your installed versions may differ, so update only through the normal app and device process and confirm the earbuds remain connected after an update.
Use the app for three practical tasks:
- Sound: select an EQ profile or make a custom adjustment to the bass-focused default.
- Listening: switch ANC, Hear-Through and Talk-Through according to your surroundings.
- Connections: manage the two-device multipoint setting and inspect which devices are connected.
Change one setting at a time and listen for a minute before changing another. That makes it easier to tell whether a perceived improvement came from EQ, a better seal or a different listening mode.
Calls and everyday use
The combination of two call modes, Talk-Through and multipoint makes the ATH-TWX7 practical for a phone-and-computer routine. You can keep the earbuds connected to both devices, use Talk-Through for a quick exchange and select Natural or Noise-Reduction Mode for the sound sent to the caller.
There is no evidence here for a universal microphone ranking or a specific wind-noise score. Test the set before relying on it for an important meeting: record a short voice memo in a quiet room and then repeat near the noise where you usually call. Ask a colleague whether your voice remains clear, especially when using Noise-Reduction Mode.
Price and value: what is, and is not, established
A current retail price or stock position is not established by the available product and review pages. SoundGuys discussed a $199 price context, but that is not a current price check and should not be treated as today’s selling price. Check the live listing and return policy in your region before buying.

At any price, evaluate the ATH-TWX7 against your priorities rather than the feature count alone. Its value improves if you own an LDAC-capable source, need two-device switching, appreciate EQ and can accept roughly four to seven hours of earbud runtime depending on conditions. Its value falls if your priority is maximum measured endurance, a waterproof design or a verified current bargain.

Common problems and practical fixes
Battery ends sooner than expected
Check whether ANC, LDAC and high volume are active, and compare your use with the manufacturer’s stated conditions. The 6.5- and 7.5-hour figures are maxima, while SoundGuys measured 4 hours 29 minutes. If the case is not replenishing the earbuds, clean the charging contacts and verify that each earbud is seated correctly.
Multipoint will not switch devices
Confirm that both devices are paired, then inspect connected-device management in the app. Disable multipoint, pair each source separately, and enable it again. Temporarily disconnect unused Bluetooth devices nearby; multiple remembered connections can make it unclear which source currently has audio focus.
ANC or bass seems weak on one side
Refit the affected earbud and try another tip size. A poor seal changes both perceived bass and the amount of outside noise ANC can reduce. Clean the tip and acoustic opening gently, and compare with Hear-Through disabled before deciding that the hardware is at fault.
The other caller hears too much background noise
Test Natural Mode and Noise-Reduction Mode in the same location. Move away from fans or traffic, ensure both earbuds are seated, and make a short recording to check whether the problem is the environment or the call connection.
Who should buy the ATH-TWX7?
Choose it if you want a feature-rich, midrange set with LDAC, app EQ, ANC, ambient modes, two-device multipoint and a broad selection of eartips. Those capabilities make it flexible for commuting, office work and mixed phone-and-computer use, provided you are comfortable charging more often than the headline maximums might suggest.
Look elsewhere if your first requirement is the longest possible measured battery life, if you need waterproof rather than splash-resistant earbuds, or if you expect a current low price that has not been verified. Also be cautious if you cannot use LDAC, will never adjust EQ and do not need multipoint: in that case, several of the ATH-TWX7’s differentiators have little practical value.

The ATH-TWX7 succeeds through breadth rather than one spectacular specification. Its secure fit, useful ANC, adjustable bass-forward sound, LDAC support, call-mode choices and two-device multipoint address real everyday problems. The deciding limitation is endurance: Audio-Technica’s maximum claims and independent measurements describe different conditions, and SoundGuys’ 4 hours 29 minutes is the figure to keep in mind when planning long sessions. Buy on that informed trade-off, not on the maximum number printed on the box.
