What the ATH-CKS30TW+ is and when it launched
Audio-Technica announced the ATH-CKS30TW+ on June 20, 2024 and said it would launch in Japan on June 28. That timing describes the Japanese announcement; it does not establish an identical release date in every country. The model sits in the company’s SOLID BASS line, whose positioning is centered on strong low-frequency reproduction.

The four Japanese color names are matte black (BK), light beige (BG), evergreen (GR) and translucent black (TBK). Regional color availability can differ, so a color listed in Japan should not be assumed to be sold in another market.
Audio-Technica says SOLID BASS models had exceeded five million cumulative sales by June 2024. That is a company-published figure for the series, not sales of the ATH-CKS30TW+ itself and not an independent market-share measurement.
Bass hardware and the limits of the sound claim
The product page attributes the ATH-CKS30TW+’s bass approach to a proprietary 9 mm driver, an acoustic space and a duct designed to manage airflow for low-frequency reproduction. Those are engineering and tuning descriptions from the manufacturer. They do not substitute for an independent frequency-response graph, distortion measurement or listening test.

The app lists five preset equalizers. One is Bass Boost – Deep, which Audio-Technica says extends the very-low-frequency range. The existence of that preset tells you the product offers software-adjustable bass emphasis; it cannot predict whether every listener will find the result clean, balanced or enjoyable. Listeners who want a neutral presentation should treat the SOLID BASS identity and the Bass Boost – Deep option as a warning that this is not marketed as a reference-tuning earbud.
Codec support is limited to AAC and SBC. That covers common phone and tablet use, but the published specifications do not claim a higher-bandwidth codec or provide measured latency, frequency response or channel-matching data.

ANC, Hear-Through and Talk-Through
The ATH-CKS30TW+ uses feed-forward active noise cancellation. Audio-Technica also provides two ways to bring outside sound back into the listening experience:
- Hear-Through: passes external sound, with the amount adjustable in the Audio-Technica Connect app.
- Talk-Through: intended for short conversations or announcements; the app can adjust the volume of the background playback while it is active.
These modes are useful distinctions on a specification sheet, but the available evidence does not establish how much low-frequency engine noise the ANC removes, how natural voices sound in Hear-Through, or whether Talk-Through is fast and clear enough for a particular workplace or commute. Those outcomes depend on seal, ear shape, firmware and the surrounding noise. No independently measured attenuation curve or controlled microphone test is established here.

With ANC disabled, Audio-Technica rates the earbuds for up to about 7.5 hours and the complete earbud-plus-case system for up to about 20 hours. Enabling ANC lowers the ratings to about 6.5 hours for the earbuds and about 17.5 hours with the case. The company lists charging at about 2.5 hours for the earbuds and about 3 hours for the case.
“Up to” is important: volume, codec activity, wireless conditions, temperature, call use and the selected noise-control mode can all change runtime. The manual explicitly says operating figures depend on conditions. Consider these planning figures for a workday or commute, not a guarantee that every charge will reach the stated maximum.
Fit, eartips and comfort caveats
Audio-Technica describes a “tragus hold” shape intended to sit around the tragus, reduce gaps and help retain bass while keeping the earbuds in place. Four eartip sizes—XS, S, M and L—are supplied, giving more adjustment range than a single-size package. The company also lists ER-TW1 replacement tips in those sizes as a separately sold accessory.

A larger tip is not automatically better: an oversized tip can create pressure, while an undersized tip can weaken the seal and reduce bass or ANC consistency. Start with the size that seals without pain, then compare both earbuds for equal isolation. Audio-Technica’s published material does not establish comfort for specific ear shapes or independent retention results during running, cycling or gym use, so the tragus-hold description should be treated as a design intention rather than a guarantee.
IP55 protection is not waterproofing
The earbuds are rated IP55. That rating applies to the earbuds, not the charging case. Audio-Technica’s explanation adds two important limits: the sound outlet itself is not rated as water- and dust-resistant, and the product should not be used in hot, humid places such as baths.
In practical terms, IP55 is not permission to submerge the earbuds, rinse the sound outlet, wear them in a shower or assume the case can be exposed to water. Keep the case dry, wipe perspiration from the earbuds and allow them to dry before placing them in the case. The English manual gives an operating range of 5–40°C, which is another reason to avoid unusually hot environments.
Bluetooth, controls and device switching
Bluetooth 5.1, A2DP, AVRCP and HFP cover music control and hands-free calling on compatible devices. The manufacturer lists multipoint for two Bluetooth devices, so the earbuds are intended to remain connected to two sources rather than forcing a complete re-pair each time you move between, for example, a phone and a computer.
The product page also lists configurable touch controls, single-ear use, a low-latency mode and Android Fast Pair. Fast Pair is described as usable with one Android device. The published information does not provide a latency measurement, specify which touch gesture performs each function, or establish how reliably multipoint hands off audio during calls; those details should be confirmed in the current manual and app version for your market.

App functions and small everyday features
The Audio-Technica Connect app is the control center for the features Audio-Technica exposes beyond basic Bluetooth playback. Its listed functions include:
- Selection among five equalizer presets, including Bass Boost – Deep.
- Adjustment of Hear-Through level.
- Adjustment of background playback volume during Talk-Through.
- Configuration of touch controls.
- Selection of low-latency operation.
- Soundscape playback.
- Sidetone during calls, which feeds some of your own voice back to you.
- An out-of-range alert.
- A map showing the last location at which the earbuds connected.
The map is a last-known connection location, not live GPS tracking. If the earbuds move after that connection or are carried away while disconnected, the app cannot provide a continuously updated position. App labels and available functions can change with firmware and operating-system versions.
What this evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The published material establishes the hardware, rated battery figures and feature list. It does not establish several questions that normally determine whether a true-wireless earbud is genuinely good in daily use:
- There is no independent frequency-response or distortion measurement to verify how the bass is balanced against vocals and treble.
- There is no controlled ANC test showing attenuation by frequency or comparison with competing models.

Before ordering, verify that the listing is for ATH-CKS30TW+ rather than an older or similarly named earbud, check the seller’s return policy, confirm the included eartip sizes and warranty region, and make sure replacement ER-TW1 tips are obtainable where you live.

How to compare it with another earbud
A fair comparison should use the same axes rather than a generic “better sound” label. Check bass tuning and EQ flexibility, ANC and ambient-mode behavior, measured battery life with ANC both on and off, fit and the number of supplied tips, the scope of water resistance, multipoint and latency features, microphone results and current local price. The ATH-CKS30TW+ specification sheet answers some of those questions, but independent hands-on measurements are still needed for the performance categories.
Final assessment
The ATH-CKS30TW+ makes a coherent promise: a small SOLID BASS earbud with a 9 mm driver, adjustable bass-oriented EQ, ANC, two ambient modes, multipoint and useful app features. Its published battery ratings are competitive on paper for its size, and the four tip sizes give buyers a reasonable starting point for finding a seal.
The caveats are equally concrete. The bass character is a manufacturer positioning, not an independently verified listening result; ANC, microphones, latency and comfort remain untested in the available evidence; IP55 does not make the set waterproof; and the Japanese page’s production-complete notice makes local stock worth checking. If those boundaries fit your priorities and a legitimate local listing is available, it is a feature-rich option for bass-focused everyday listening.
