Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTwo separate unauthenticated vulnerabilities were reported as actively exploited: CVE-2026-104286 in Fortinet FortiMail and CVE-2026-73570 in Zimbra Collaboration Suite. Their attack paths and fixes differ. Administrators should identify the affected product and configuration, apply the matching vendor fix, and investigate for signs of access that may predate patching.
The versions and exploitation details below reflect an ITdaily report published October 2, 2026. Check current Fortinet and Zimbra vendor advisories before making changes; the Fortinet affected-version matrix and indicators were not independently verified for that report.
How the two vulnerabilities differ
| Product and CVE | Reported attack path | Prerequisite or exposure | Reported fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fortinet FortiMail, CVE-2026-104286 | Crafted web requests can write files to arbitrary locations in the underlying system through a feature associated with encrypted-message delivery. | The web interface is the reported attack surface. The report describes the issue as unauthenticated and gives a CVSS score of 9.8/10, attributed to Fortinet. | Reported fixed releases: 8.0.2, 7.6.7 and 7.4.9. The report says the 7.2 branch has no patch for this issue. |
| Zimbra Collaboration Suite, CVE-2026-73570 | A crafted email can reach the optional zimbra-snmp component and trigger command injection while it processes SNMP notifications. |
The report says the relevant component must be present and SNMP notifications enabled. The recipient does not need to open the email. | Zimbra lists the fix in ZCS 10.1.20, released July 20, 2026. |
These are distinct issues, not one shared mail-server flaw: a FortiMail web-request path and a Zimbra SNMP notification path require different configuration checks and remediation.
What administrators should do
FortiMail: check the branch and restrict exposure
- Check the installed FortiMail version and branch against Fortinet’s current advisory for CVE-2026-104286. The October 2 report lists 8.0.2, 7.6.7 and 7.4.9 as fixed releases; confirm the complete affected-version matrix and any exceptions with Fortinet before scheduling an upgrade.
- Upgrade to the applicable fixed release following the vendor’s guidance. If running FortiMail 7.2, the report says there is no patch for that branch and recommends moving to 7.4; confirm the supported upgrade path before proceeding.
- If you cannot update immediately, the report’s temporary measures are to disable IBE and restrict management-interface access to trusted internal networks. These are interim risk reductions, not substitutes for applying a fix.
Zimbra: verify whether the vulnerable SNMP path is enabled
- Determine whether
zimbra-snmpis installed and whether SNMP notifications are enabled. Those are the conditions the report identifies for the email-triggered command-injection path. - Upgrade to ZCS 10.1.20 or later, after checking Zimbra’s current security guidance and release compatibility for your deployment.
- If an update cannot be applied immediately, remove
zimbra-snmpor disable SNMP notifications, as appropriate for your deployment. Confirm operational impact before disabling monitoring functions.
Check for compromise as well as patching
Applying an update or mitigation closes the reported route but does not establish that a server was never accessed, or remove an attacker’s existing foothold. Treat suspected exploitation as an incident: preserve relevant logs and evidence, follow your organization’s response process, and involve qualified incident responders if needed.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Zimbra investigation
The report advises checking for web shells and replacing Zimbra secret keys. Microsoft’s threat analysis describes behaviors defenders can hunt for in connection with the SNMP command-injection path, including shell execution, suspicious writes to Zimbra web application directories, persistence, credential collection and command-and-control activity. Treat any individual indicator as a lead to investigate, not proof that every listed follow-on action occurred.
FortiMail investigation
The report says Fortinet published indicators for checking for evidence of exploitation, but does not establish the indicator details or the full affected-version matrix. Obtain the current Fortinet advisory and use its indicators and response guidance rather than relying on an inferred checklist.
