Atos has won a Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) application-services contract valued at up to £350 million. Its core work covers service management, application support and maintenance, and application security; the procurement notice also identifies IT service continuity management as central to delivery. That is the contract’s intended role—not evidence that every application has run without interruption.
What the contract covers
The award is for services supporting the MPS application estate, rather than a single named app or a consumer-facing product. The procurement notice divides the work into three core service areas.

Does it mean the applications will stay online?
Continuity is an explicit service objective, but the available award information does not establish actual uptime or an uninterrupted operating record. It provides no availability percentage, outage history, application-by-application performance data or post-award results.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIn Atos’s 5 October 2026 announcement, MPS director of Digital Product Delivery Jamie Hewitt said the collaboration “will provide a stable digital foundation” while supporting modernization and simplification of the application landscape. That is a forward-looking statement about the partnership, not a measured service outcome.

Who awarded it, and why Atos is a familiar supplier
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), acting for the MPS, is the contracting authority. The award notice names Atos IT Services UK Limited as supplier and records an open procedure and a completed award.
This is a new 2026 award, but it follows an earlier relationship. MOPAC’s October 2024 decision says the previous application-management services (AMS) contract was awarded to ATOS in 2021, with a five-year initial term, two 12-month extension options and a total value of £350 million. MOPAC also records that the earlier AMS and service desk and infrastructure management (SDIM) contracts were novated to Eviden in November 2023. Atos’s 2021 announcement described that predecessor AMS agreement as lasting up to seven years. Those predecessor terms and values do not describe the new award.
