Yes. Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories is planned to include an explicit body-shape setting. Players will be able to let snack eating change Karia’s body shape, disable those changes entirely, or lock her at a preferred shape while keeping the broader feature enabled. The options were announced by the official Atelier Karia website in 2026 after more than 38,000 survey responses.
How the body-shape setting is planned to work
The announcement describes three practical ways to play. The central switch controls whether snack consumption can alter Karia’s body shape. A separate lock lets you preserve a chosen shape without necessarily turning the system off.

| Play option | What happens when Karia eats snacks | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Changes ON (dynamic) | Karia’s body shape changes according to how much she eats during snacks. | Players who want eating to have a visible gameplay or character-development effect. |
| Changes OFF | Her body shape does not change, regardless of how much she eats. | Players who prefer a consistent appearance throughout the game. |
| Shape locked | A preferred body shape is held; further eating does not change it, even while body-shape changes remain enabled. | Players who want the feature available but have settled on one appearance. |
The official wording is explicit: “Players will be able to turn body shape changes ON or OFF according to their preferences.” When ON, shape responds to the amount Karia eats during snacks; when OFF, eating has no effect on her shape. The lock is an additional control rather than a replacement for the main toggle.
Can you turn body-shape changes off?
According to the announcement, yes. Set the body-shape feature to OFF and Karia’s shape will remain unchanged no matter how much she eats during snack events. This is not described as a temporary reduction or a limit on how often changes occur; it is presented as a mode in which eating does not change her body shape.

The announcement does not publish the menu location, the exact label used in the finished interface, or whether the setting can be changed at any point in a playthrough. Those details should not be assumed until the developer provides them.
Does eating change Karia’s body?
It can, if the setting is ON. Snack eating is the trigger, and the amount she eats determines the resulting body-shape change. The announcement does not specify the number of shape stages, the amount of food required for each stage, how quickly a change appears, or whether other activities affect her body.

With the setting OFF, the same snack behavior will not alter her body shape. The two modes therefore separate the eating system from visual body-shape progression for players who do not want that connection.

How the shape lock differs from turning changes off
A lock is intended for a player who wants to keep the feature enabled but stop changes after choosing a preferred shape. In that state, further eating will not move Karia away from the locked shape. Turning the feature OFF instead prevents body-shape changes regardless of eating, without relying on a selected shape.

- Use lock after selecting a shape you want to preserve while leaving the broader system available.
The announcement does not say whether a lock can be removed, whether it can be changed repeatedly, or whether unlocking restores changes retroactively. Those controls remain unspecified.
Why the option was announced
The feature is part of a response to a player survey that received more than 38,000 responses, according to the official 2026 announcement. The wording frames all three choices as supported preferences rather than as a single intended play style. That makes the setting relevant both to players interested in a changing character model and to those who want appearance consistency.
