Does eating make Karia permanently bigger?
Not in the simple sense of an unavoidable permanent growth system. When body-shape control is ON, the amount Karia eats during snacks changes her shape. Koei Tecmo describes Style Change as a separate system. Styles can be unlocked through story progress or by eating particular items, and they alter appearance and combat properties. Body shape, by contrast, is tied specifically to how much Karia eats during snacks when its feature is ON.

- Reset behavior: A manual return to a previous or default shape is not documented.
- Persistence: The announcements do not state whether the setting survives loading, applies to every save slot, or is stored only in the current game.
- Timing: It is not stated whether the shape updates immediately after a snack, at a later transition, or after a threshold of accumulated food.
- Gameplay effects: The body-shape statements concern appearance. They do not establish that body shape changes statistics, abilities, hitboxes, or difficulty.
- Snack availability: OFF and Lock govern whether snacks alter body shape. The material does not say that either setting removes snacks or prevents their other effects.
Those gaps are important if you are planning a long playthrough around a particular appearance. The confirmed controls are enough to avoid additional changes, but not enough to promise a full appearance editor.

Choose ON if you want food consumption to have a visible, evolving consequence and are comfortable with Karia’s appearance changing as you snack. This is the only mode described as allowing the amount eaten to drive body-shape changes.

Choose OFF if consistency matters more than the dynamic effect. It is the clearest way to prevent later snacks from changing Karia’s body shape. Do not treat it as a confirmed restoration command for a form that has already changed.
Choose Lock if you have a preferred form and want to keep it while continuing to eat. The wording indicates that later snacks will not move Karia away from that locked shape. The interface has not yet explained how a preferred form is selected, so the precise timing of this choice remains to be clarified.
Release context and how firm the information is
Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories is scheduled by Koei Tecmo for February 25, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Koei Tecmo has also announced standard, premium, and special premium editions. Edition contents and regional availability are separate from the body-shape controls and do not change how the settings are described.

The body-shape wording comes from Gust’s announcement, as reported by Nintendo Life. Koei Tecmo’s Tokyo Game Show material describes snacking as a mechanic that can affect Karia’s abilities and appearance, while its Style Change information explains the separate style system. GUST_EN material from 2026 records more than 38,000 responses. None of those public statements supplies a detailed reset command or a complete menu walkthrough.
Because the game is announced rather than released, the interface and terminology could still change before launch. The reliable expectation is therefore limited to the three published behaviors: ON allows snack-driven body-shape changes, OFF prevents them, and Lock preserves a preferred shape.
