It is a more selective upgrade from the Pixel 9: the telephoto lens and built-in magnets are the clearest reasons to switch, while the two phones share many core traits.
The $599 figure is a historical US Amazon price for the unlocked 128GB model, reported before June 2026 Prime Day—not a guaranteed current offer. Prices moved during that sale. Google Store’s US page showed $649, down from $799, during its October 6–11, 2026 promotion. Check the retailer and checkout price before deciding.

What did the Pixel 10 cost during Prime Day?
Android Central reported the unlocked 128GB Pixel 10 at $599 on Amazon in early Prime Day coverage published June 5, 2026. Its June 26 coverage later listed the phone at $534 on Amazon, illustrating that the sale price changed during the event. Neither figure should be treated as a permanent price or a live offer.

Is the Pixel 10 worth buying at $599?
For someone replacing a much older phone, yes—provided $599 is the real available price for the configuration you want. The Pixel 10’s strongest differentiators are its 5x optical telephoto camera, Qi2-certified magnetic wireless charging, and Google’s seven-year update commitment. Those features, alongside its current-generation hardware for the price, make the discount meaningful rather than merely a small markdown.

The case is less clear if you already own a Pixel 9. The Pixel 10 adds a telephoto camera and built-in magnets, but retains a similar screen size and general experience. Upgrade if those additions solve a specific need and the cost after any trade-in is attractive; otherwise, waiting is reasonable. The Pixel 10 is no longer Google’s newest base Pixel, so compare its actual price and remaining support horizon with current-generation alternatives.
What does the Pixel 10 offer?
Display and performance
Google lists a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display with 1080 × 2424 resolution, a 60–120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness up to 3,000 nits. The phone uses Google’s Tensor G5 processor, with 12GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance-test results.

- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
Cameras and magnetic charging
The rear camera system combines a 48MP wide camera, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 10.8MP 5x optical telephoto camera. Google lists Super Res Zoom up to 20x. The key practical change over the Pixel 9 is the dedicated telephoto reach; the Pixel 10 does not simply have higher megapixel counts across all cameras.
Pixelsnap provides Qi2-certified wireless charging up to 15W, with built-in magnets for compatible accessories. Google says wired charging can reach up to 55% in about 30 minutes when using a 30W USB-C PPS charger or higher; that charger is sold separately. Google announced the Pixel 10 lineup on August 20, 2025, with retail availability beginning August 28, 2025.

Battery and software support
Google specifies a 4,970mAh typical battery and rates the phone for 24 hours or more of use, or up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. Those are Google’s claims, not guarantees of an individual owner’s runtime. In Tom’s Guide’s 2025 continuous web-browsing test, the Pixel 10 lasted 13 hours 13 minutes; the Pixel 9 lasted 12.5 hours in the same publication’s comparison. A controlled test result is useful for context, but actual battery life varies with use and conditions.

Google commits to seven years of Pixel Drops, Android OS updates, and security updates for the Pixel 10. That is a stated support commitment; it does not mean every future feature will arrive on a particular date or be available to every device in the same way. Pixel 9 vs. Pixel 10: what changes?
The Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 launched with the same $799 starting price and both have 6.3-inch displays, according to Tom’s Guide’s comparison. The newer phone adds a telephoto camera, moves from Tensor G4 to Tensor G5, increases its stated typical battery capacity, and raises its peak-brightness specification.
| Feature | Pixel 9 | Pixel 10 |
|---|---|---|
| Launch starting price | $799 | $799 |
| Display size | 6.3 inches | 6.3 inches |
| Peak brightness | 2,700 nits | 3,000 nits |
| Processor | Tensor G4 | Tensor G5 |
| Rear camera distinction | No 5x telephoto listed in the comparison | 10.8MP 5x optical telephoto |
| Typical battery capacity | 4,700mAh | 4,970mAh |
| Continuous web-browsing battery test | 12.5 hours — Tom’s Guide, 2025 | 13 hours 13 minutes — Tom’s Guide, 2025 |
The camera comparison needs context: the Pixel 9 has higher stated resolutions on its main and ultrawide cameras. The Pixel 10’s advantage is the dedicated 5x lens, not a blanket increase in camera resolution. Tom’s Guide’s battery figures are results from one publication’s test, not expected runtimes for every owner. See Tom’s Guide’s Pixel 10 vs. Pixel 9 comparison.
Who should upgrade—and who should wait?
Upgrade from an older phone if
- You can actually buy the 128GB Pixel 10 near $599 and want a substantial hardware refresh.
- You take photos at a distance and would use the dedicated 5x optical telephoto camera.
- You want Qi2 magnetic charging and compatible magnetic accessories without relying on a separate magnetic adapter.
- You value Google’s seven-year update commitment for a phone you plan to keep for years.
Consider keeping a Pixel 9 if
- You do not need a telephoto camera or magnetic charging accessories.
- The net upgrade cost after trade-in is high relative to the features you would gain.
- Your current phone meets your needs and you would rather compare prices and support horizons for newer models.
For a Pixel 9 owner, the decision comes down chiefly to the value of 5x zoom and built-in Qi2 magnets, weighed against the real out-of-pocket cost. For an owner of a much older phone, the Pixel 10 at a genuine $599 sale price is easier to recommend, as long as the changing deal price and the model’s age are factored into the purchase.
