The ASUS ZenWiFi BE5000 Pro is a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh system with two 2.5G WAN/LAN ports on each unit. Its strengths are multi-gigabit wired connections, flexible wired backhaul, and ASUS network features. Its main trade-off is equally clear: there is no 6GHz band. For a household that wants 6GHz or more wireless capacity between mesh nodes, compare a tri-band system before buying.
What is the ASUS ZenWiFi BE5000 Pro?
The BE5000 Pro is a Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) mesh system using 2.4GHz and 5GHz. ASUS advertises combined wireless rates up to 5000Mbps; that figure is a maximum link-rate claim, not a promise of 5Gbps internet speed or a measured download result. ASUS lists maximum rates of 4323Mbps on 5GHz and 688Mbps on 2.4GHz. Actual client speeds depend on the client device, distance, interference, backhaul, internet service, and other network conditions. - Wireless bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz; no 6GHz.
- Ethernet: Two auto-detect 2.5G WAN/LAN ports per unit. Either port can serve as WAN or LAN, enabling multi-gigabit wired connections and wired backhaul when the rest of the network supports it.
- Hardware: Four internal antennas, a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU, 512MB RAM, and 128MB flash, according to ASUS.
- Modes: Wireless router, access point, or AiMesh node.
How well does it perform?
RTINGS published its review on September 25, 2026, based on a dual-node configuration. It describes good close-range speeds suited to a gigabit connection and impressive range, including in larger or multi-level homes. It also says the system can support several people streaming 4K video or making calls. RTINGS’ numerical charts are locked, so no specific throughput, distance, or latency measurements are available to report here. RTINGS review

Wireless backhaul and latency
With wireless mesh backhaul, traffic between a satellite and the main unit shares the wireless system. RTINGS found latency increased and became less consistent through satellite nodes, making this a poor fit for competitive gaming over Wi-Fi. If responsiveness matters for gaming, video calls, or other latency-sensitive work, wired Ethernet backhaul is the more appropriate configuration to consider. The benefit depends on whether you can run Ethernet and whether the devices on the route support the required speeds.

More nodes are not automatically faster
RTINGS found its three-node setup slightly slower across the board than its dual-node setup, attributing the difference to additional nodes using bandwidth for inter-node links. That does not mean a third node is never useful: a larger or awkwardly shaped home may need it for coverage. It does mean that adding nodes should be driven by dead zones and layout, not by an assumption that each one increases speed.
How much area can it cover?
ASUS estimates coverage of up to 5,000 square feet for a two-pack and up to 6,800 square feet for a three-pack. These are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed coverage or independent test results. ASUS cautions that real coverage and throughput vary with traffic, building materials, construction, and other network conditions. A floor plan with thick walls, multiple levels, or a distant satellite can perform differently from a more open layout. ASUS coverage and product details

What networking features does it include?
ASUS lists AiMesh, Multi-Link Operation (MLO), parental controls, guest networking, AiProtection, VPN client and server options, and Smart Home Master SSIDs. Feature availability and behavior can vary by model, region, firmware, and operating mode, so check ASUS’ specifications for the exact configuration you intend to use.
MLO is not a guarantee of combined-band throughput
ASUS describes MLO across the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and also advertises 4K-QAM. In its review of the tested unit, RTINGS characterizes MLO as alternating: a client connects on one band at a time. Do not read the MLO label as evidence that a device will simultaneously aggregate both bands or achieve a particular speed increase. The client must also support the relevant Wi-Fi 7 features.

AiMesh and operating modes
The BE5000 Pro can operate as a router, access point, or AiMesh node. That flexibility may suit someone extending a compatible ASUS AiMesh network, but compatibility and feature behavior depend on the specific models and setup. Confirm the exact router or node combination with ASUS before purchasing; the product’s general AiMesh support does not establish that every feature works identically in every arrangement.
Which model and pack are you buying?
RTINGS describes the BE5000 Pro it tested as a Best Buy three-pack variant related to the ASUS ZenWiFi BD5. The BD5 is offered in one-, two-, or three-packs, while the BE5000 Pro version in RTINGS’ review is sold only as a three-pack. Check the product name, seller listing, and number of units carefully rather than assuming a BD5 listing is the same SKU or pack.

ASUS lists a ZenWiFi BE5000 Pro unit, RJ45 cable, power adapter, warranty card, and quick-start guide in the package contents; regional packaging may differ. The included cable means a separate Ethernet cable is not automatically necessary, though a longer cable may be needed for a particular wired-backhaul route.

Who should consider the BE5000 Pro?
It is a stronger fit if
- You want Wi-Fi 7 mesh and can make practical use of two 2.5G WAN/LAN ports per unit.
- You can connect mesh nodes by Ethernet, or you value having that option.
- You want ASUS features such as AiMesh, VPN options, parental controls, guest networking, or Smart Home Master SSIDs, subject to model and mode compatibility.
- The three-pack is appropriate for your home and the current price is competitive with systems that meet the same needs.
Look elsewhere if
- You specifically want a 6GHz band for compatible devices or additional spectrum in a congested environment.
- Your priority is consistent low latency over wireless satellite links, especially for competitive gaming.
- You expect a third mesh unit automatically to improve speed; placement and backhaul capacity matter, and RTINGS’ three-node test was slightly slower than its two-node test.
- You need a different pack size: verify the listing carefully, because RTINGS’ reviewed BE5000 Pro version is a three-pack, distinct from BD5 pack options.
Verdict
The ASUS ZenWiFi BE5000 Pro is a capable dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh option whose clearest practical advantage is its pair of 2.5G WAN/LAN ports on every unit. RTINGS’ review reports good close-range performance and impressive range, while highlighting less consistent latency through wireless satellites. The decision turns on whether the 2.4/5GHz design and wired connectivity suit your home: if 6GHz is important, compare a tri-band alternative instead.
