What the reported price tells you—and what it doesn’t
PC Gamer reported a Best Buy price of $1,349.99, down from $1,599.99, on October 5, 2026. Hardware Writer Andy Edser called that price reasonable for the market he saw that day, despite the RTX 5060, pointing in particular to the 16-core AMD processor. That is his assessment, not a verified market-wide comparison: the article does not provide same-day prices for competing laptops.

How to judge the configuration
The CPU and GPU pairing
The Ryzen 9 8940HX’s 16 cores are the standout alongside the RTX 5060. The listed 115 W GPU rating is also a useful point of comparison when shopping among RTX 5060 laptops; the GPU name alone does not describe the complete configuration.

The screen and storage
A 1200p resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate make the display a high-refresh option at that resolution. The 1 TB SSD provides the listed storage capacity, though the source does not specify how much space is available to the user after system files and preinstalled software.
The main compromise: 16 GB of memory
The most clearly identified drawback is 16 GB of DDR5 rather than 32 GB. PC Gamer flags that as the configuration’s compromise. The report points readers to a separate PC Gamer article for its view that 16 GB remains adequate for gaming, but that guidance is not independently established here. If you expect to run demanding games alongside other memory-heavy applications, or want more headroom, verify whether this laptop’s memory can be upgraded and what that would cost; the deal report does not state upgrade details.
Rank #3
- AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS Processor (3.2GHz)
- 16" Full HD+ 144Hz Display
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Graphics
Is it a good deal?
It is a configuration worth considering if the live listing matches the reported specs and you value the 16-core processor, 115 W RTX 5060, fast-refresh 1200p screen and 1 TB SSD. Whether the price is competitive depends on current alternatives: compare offers available at the same time, checking GPU power rating, display, memory, storage and CPU rather than comparing RTX 5060 labels alone. The October 5 price and PC Gamer’s favorable judgment are useful context, not proof of today’s best price.
