The ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo (2026), model family GX651, pairs two 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreens with a detachable keyboard and high-end gaming hardware. TechRadar’s review calls it spectacular, but its tested RTX 5090 configuration is not the model’s entry point: ASUS listed the GX651 from $4,499.99 in the US on October 7, 2026. The dual-screen design is compelling for people who will use both displays; the price, limited movie-playback runtime in TechRadar’s test, and reviewer-reported noise and heat make it a specialized purchase rather than an obvious choice for every gamer.
What makes the Zephyrus Duo different?
The GX651 is built around two 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreens and a magnetic, detachable keyboard. ASUS lists five modes: dual-screen, laptop, sharing, book, and tent. With the keyboard attached over the lower display, it works more like a conventional laptop; remove it to expose both screens, or position the system for shared viewing or other layouts.

The second display has a practical benefit when you have something useful to keep in view: a game on one screen and chat, a guide, or monitoring tools on the other, for example. It can also provide more room for creative work and multitasking. But it adds value only if you regularly need that extra workspace. For a buyer who mainly wants a single-screen gaming laptop, the design’s central feature may not justify its cost and bulk.

TechRadar says it can connect over Bluetooth when detached. Both screens support touch; TechRadar notes that a stylus is not included.

How much does it cost, and which configuration is that?
ASUS’s US product page listed the GX651 starting at $4,499.99 when checked on October 7, 2026. That is a US starting list price, not a universal price or a promise that a particular configuration is in stock. Confirm the exact configuration and current price in your region before buying.
Configuration matters when reading performance claims. TechRadar tested a unit with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, and 64GB of RAM. Engadget describes a US base configuration at roughly $4,500 with a Core Ultra 9 386H, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and an RTX 5070 Ti, with an RTX 5090 upgrade available. Results from the RTX 5090 review unit should not be treated as guaranteed performance for the base model.

How fast is it in games?
TechRadar’s 2026 results show strong gaming performance on its tested RTX 5090 configuration, but the settings make a substantial difference. In Cyberpunk 2077, TechRadar recorded 94 fps at maximum resolution with Ultra settings and DLSS Balanced. At 1600p with Ultra ray tracing and DLSS Balanced, it recorded 66 fps. With the more demanding Ray Tracing: Overdrive preset at 2880 × 1800 and DLSS Balanced, the result was 30 fps; enabling Frame Generation raised it to 50–60 fps.
Those are separate test scenarios, not one general frame-rate promise. The review unit also scored 34,724 in 3DMark Fire Strike and 17,119 in Geekbench 6.5 multicore, according to TechRadar’s 2026 benchmark table. Individual retail configurations and real-world results can differ.

What are the main trade-offs?
Battery life depends on the workload
TechRadar’s 2026 movie-playback test lasted 3 hours and 37 minutes with only the main screen active. Engadget’s PCMark 10 Modern Office test lasted 13 hours and 10 minutes with one display enabled. These are different tests and workloads, so the figures are not directly comparable; neither should be read as a runtime guarantee for gaming or for using both displays.
Noise, heat, and keyboard comfort
TechRadar reports that the fans can become audible even during light tasks, that heat concentrates on the underside, and that the gaming position feels cramped around the WASD keys. The review also criticizes the keyboard layout and says the materials do not feel especially premium for the price, while describing the chassis itself as solid. These are observations from one review unit, not claims about every unit.

It is a substantial system, not a minimal travel laptop
Engadget characterizes the laptop as bulky as well as expensive. That matters alongside its battery behavior: the Duo is best considered as a portable workstation and gaming setup whose two screens can be useful away from a desk, rather than as a light laptop for long unplugged sessions.
What ports and wireless connections does it have?
ASUS lists HDMI 2.1, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and a full-size SD card reader. Engadget also lists Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack, and notes that the laptop has no Ethernet jack or Thunderbolt 5. If wired networking or the newer Thunderbolt standard is essential to your setup, account for that before purchase.

Who should buy it?
The Zephyrus Duo makes the most sense for someone who will put both screens to work—such as a gamer who wants chat or reference material alongside a game, or a multitasker who values a built-in second display—and who can afford the configuration they actually want. Its high-end GPU options and OLED panels make it an ambitious all-in-one setup, but the extra screen is not a substitute for checking keyboard comfort, carrying needs, and the specific GPU and memory in the SKU being sold.
For a conventional gaming laptop buyer who prioritizes lower cost, long unplugged use, or a straightforward keyboard-first layout, the Duo’s defining feature may be more compromise than benefit. Decide based on the value of the second screen in your own routine, not just the appeal of the specification list.
