Choose the ASUS ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 if you want high-refresh monitor or TV gaming, variable refresh rate, HDR, automatic low-latency mode, three USB-A ports, or the greatest documented host-charging headroom. Choose the Lenovo Legion Go USB-C Dock if your priority is an official Legion Go pairing and a straightforward 4K/60Hz desk setup. Lenovo’s own documents disagree about how much power reaches the handheld, so confirm the exact product revision and its current documentation before buying.

At a glance: the important differences

Both docks turn a compatible handheld into a desktop-style setup with one external display, Gigabit Ethernet and USB peripherals. Their priorities are different: ASUS builds the ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 around HDMI 2.1 and high-refresh gaming, while Lenovo’s dock is a simpler HDMI 2.0 accessory presented specifically for Legion Go.

The display, feature support and charging rows are the buying decision. A dock cannot make a handheld render games faster, but it can determine which monitor modes are available and whether the handheld maintains its intended performance while charging.

Which dock is better for handheld gaming?

Pick the DG310 for a high-refresh gaming display

The DG310 is the stronger choice for a gaming monitor or television that supports refresh rates above 60Hz. HDMI 2.1 gives it the documented ceiling of 4K at 144Hz, and ASUS also specifies 8K at 30Hz for compatible displays. ASUS lists HDR, variable refresh rate (VRR) and automatic low-latency mode (ALLM), features that can make a console-style living-room setup feel smoother and reduce manual display switching.

Those modes still depend on the handheld, game, operating system, monitor and cable. The dock exposes the link; it does not guarantee that every game will produce 144 frames per second or that every handheld will drive every advertised mode. If a game runs below the display’s refresh range, VRR can help only when the handheld and monitor negotiate it correctly.

Pick the Lenovo dock for a conventional Legion Go desk

Lenovo’s accessory is easier to justify when the target is a Legion Go beside a 4K/60Hz monitor or television. Its official documentation centers on Legion Go, and its HDMI 2.0 specification covers the common 4K/60Hz and 2K/120Hz use cases. If you do not own a high-refresh 4K panel, the DG310’s extra video bandwidth may have no visible benefit.

Lenovo’s documents do not establish HDR, VRR or ALLM support for this dock. That does not prove that a particular monitor combination cannot use a feature, but it means those modes should not be treated as a documented buying guarantee.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can the ROG Bulwark Dock run 4K at 144Hz?

Yes. ASUS specifies 3840×2160 at 144Hz through the DG310’s HDMI 2.1 output. To actually select that mode, the display must support 4K/144Hz on the connected HDMI input, the HDMI cable must have sufficient bandwidth, and the handheld must output the mode through USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode. Windows display settings or the graphics control panel may show only modes that the handheld and monitor successfully negotiate.

  • 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
  • Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
  • Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
  • HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

For troubleshooting, begin with a direct connection at 4K and the desired refresh rate, then add HDR or VRR. Some displays reserve their highest refresh rate for a particular HDMI input or a setting such as “enhanced” or “high bandwidth.” If 144Hz is unavailable, test another certified high-bandwidth HDMI cable, select the monitor’s enhanced input mode, update the handheld’s graphics driver and check the display’s input specifications. The dock’s specification is not evidence that every USB-C handheld can generate 4K/144Hz.

The same output is also specified for 8K at 30Hz. That is a maximum signal format, not a recommendation for demanding handheld games: rendering at 8K is substantially more demanding, and the practical gaming target for most users is a lower resolution with a higher refresh rate.

Power delivery: 80W on ASUS versus conflicting Lenovo figures

How the DG310’s charging path works

The DG310 has a USB-C PD input rated up to 100W and a fixed upstream USB-C cable rated for up to 80W to the handheld. ASUS says the charger is not included and recommends a USB-C PD adapter rated at 100W or higher to reach the full output. A lower-rated adapter can still power the dock, but the handheld may receive less than its maximum and may charge more slowly or draw from its battery during heavy play.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The adapter’s wattage is an input limit, not a promise that 100W reaches the handheld. The dock, connected USB devices and display connection consume part of the available power, while USB Power Delivery negotiates the safe level with the handheld. Use a charger that supports the required USB-C PD profiles and connect it to the dock’s PD input rather than to a peripheral port.

Why the Legion Go number needs a SKU check

Lenovo’s current support page states USB-C power passthrough of up to 45W to Legion Go. Lenovo’s specification PDF states up to 100W PD input and 65W to the system. Both figures are official Lenovo documentation, but they cannot be treated as one universal output rating. The PDF identifies supported-system part numbers GX91P83589 and GX91P83696 for the US and Canada.

Before purchase, match the part number on the box or retailer listing to Lenovo’s documentation for your region. If the listing does not identify a revision, ask the seller or Lenovo support which host-output figure applies. Do not assume that a 100W input automatically means 65W, or that every unit is limited to 45W.

What the charging difference means in practice

Higher available host power matters most when the handheld is running a demanding game, driving an external display and powering accessories simultaneously. It can also matter when the system’s performance profile expects a higher-power adapter. If you mainly play lighter games at a desk, either dock may be adequate; the Lenovo documentation conflict is the reason to verify rather than guess.

Ports and peripherals

DG310 layout

ASUS provides one Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet port, one HDMI 2.1 port, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB-C PD input and the fixed USB-C upstream cable. Three Type-A sockets are convenient for a keyboard, mouse, controller receiver, storage drive or headset adapter without a separate hub. The trade-off is that the dock does not provide a USB-C data port for a modern USB-C peripheral; its USB-C connection is the power input and the captive host cable.

Lenovo layout

Lenovo provides two USB-A ports, one USB-C data port, HDMI 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet and the integrated USB-C host cable. The USB-C data socket is useful for a newer storage device, phone, card reader or other accessory that you do not want to run through an adapter. You get one fewer USB-A port than with ASUS, so a desk with several legacy peripherals may need a hub.

Both docks offer wired networking through Gigabit Ethernet. A wired connection can provide more consistent latency than congested wireless networking, but actual internet speed and game latency still depend on your router, service and network path.

Compatibility, stand fit and cable ergonomics

DG310 compatibility

ASUS says the DG310 works over one USB-C cable with devices supporting USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. ASUS lists Windows 11 or later, macOS 12.3 or later and Android 14 or later. This makes the dock a standards-based accessory rather than an Ally-only electronics design.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The built-in stand is ergonomically shaped for the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026). Other handhelds can still use the dock’s USB-C connection and ports when they meet the video and power requirements, but their dimensions, USB-C position and case thickness may prevent a secure fit in the stand. A device may therefore be electrically compatible without sitting correctly in the cradle.

ASUS also describes one-touch Bluetooth pairing as a feature designed for ROG Xbox Ally. That convenience should not be interpreted as a requirement for ordinary USB-C display, power or peripheral operation.

Lenovo compatibility

Lenovo explicitly lists the Legion Go for this dock. That official pairing reduces uncertainty about the physical cradle and the host connection, particularly if you use a Legion Go without a thick protective case. The cited Lenovo documents do not establish a broad list of other handhelds, so owners of different devices should confirm USB-C video support, connector placement and stand clearance before relying on the accessory.

Which cable length suits your setup?

The DG310’s fixed host lead is 60cm, while Lenovo’s integrated cable is 230mm. The longer ASUS lead gives more freedom to place a handheld beside or behind a monitor stand, although it leaves more cable to manage. Lenovo’s shorter lead can look tidier when the Legion Go sits directly in the dock, but it offers less reach if the handheld must be positioned farther away. Neither design lets you replace the captive host cable with a longer one.

Dimensions and desk placement

The DG310 is larger and heavier than the Lenovo dock, measuring 181.6 × 86.6 × 31.6mm and approximately 262g with ASUS’s stated ±10g tolerance. Lenovo’s specification lists 160 × 73.4 × 30.7mm; its weight is not stated in the cited document. The size difference is modest, but measure the available space if the dock must fit under a monitor stand, in a travel pouch or beside a compact keyboard.

Physical stability depends more on the handheld’s fit, case and cable direction than on dimensions alone. Before connecting, check that the USB-C plug is not forced sideways by the cradle and that the handheld’s intake or exhaust openings are not blocked. A loose fit can tug on the port when you move a controller or Ethernet cable.

How to set up the DG310

  1. Check the host. Confirm that the handheld has USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. On a Windows handheld, install current system and graphics updates before troubleshooting display modes.
  2. Place the dock. Set the DG310 on a stable surface and place the handheld in the stand only if its dimensions and USB-C position allow the connector to align naturally.
  3. Connect the display. Run an HDMI cable from the dock’s HDMI 2.1 port to the monitor or television. Select the HDMI input that supports the panel’s highest bandwidth.
  4. Connect power. Plug a compatible USB-C PD adapter into the dock’s PD input. ASUS recommends 100W or higher for the dock’s maximum documented host output; the adapter is separate from the dock package.
  5. Connect the handheld. Insert the fixed USB-C upstream cable into the handheld. The dock should provide display, USB and Ethernet functions through this single connection.
  6. Add peripherals. Attach keyboard, mouse, storage or controller receivers to the three USB-A ports, and connect Ethernet if desired.
  7. Configure video. In the operating system’s display settings, choose the required resolution and refresh rate. Enable HDR or VRR on both the operating system and display when those controls are available.
  8. Test under load. Start a game and watch for charging status, display flicker, USB disconnects or network drops. If symptoms appear only under load, test with fewer USB devices and verify the charger rating.

How to set up the Lenovo Legion Go USB-C Dock

  1. Identify the revision. Look for the dock’s supported-system part number and compare it with Lenovo’s current regional documentation, because the cited host-power figures differ.
  2. Position the Legion Go. Place the handheld in the stand and ensure that the integrated USB-C cable reaches the port without bending the connector. Remove a case temporarily if it prevents full insertion.
  3. Connect HDMI. Attach the monitor or television to the HDMI 2.0 output and select the appropriate input. Use 4K/60Hz or 2K/120Hz only when the display and handheld both expose those modes.
  4. Attach power. Connect a USB-C PD supply to the dock’s power input. Confirm the adapter’s rating and the output figure documented for your exact Lenovo revision.
  5. Connect accessories. Use the two USB-A ports for legacy peripherals and the USB-C data port for a compatible modern device. Connect Gigabit Ethernet if you want a wired network.
  6. Set the display mode. Apply the resolution and refresh rate in the Legion Go’s display controls, then test a game. If charging pauses or the battery falls during play, check the adapter, revision-specific power rating and peripheral load.

Common problems and fixes

The display stays blank

  • Confirm that the handheld’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode; charging-only USB-C ports cannot carry video.
  • Reconnect power to the dock, then reconnect the host cable and select the correct monitor input.
  • Test a different HDMI cable or display input, especially when attempting a high-refresh mode.
  • On Windows, press Win + P and choose an external-display mode, then check Display settings for detection.

Only 60Hz appears

  • Check the monitor’s HDMI input specification and enable its high-bandwidth or enhanced mode if required.
  • Start at a lower resolution to separate a bandwidth problem from a driver problem.
  • Update the handheld’s graphics driver and display firmware where the manufacturer provides updates.
  • Remember that the dock’s maximum is not the handheld’s guaranteed output; the GPU, operating system and game must also support the selected mode.

The handheld charges slowly or loses battery

  • Use a USB-C PD adapter that meets the dock’s recommendation or the Lenovo revision’s documented input requirement.
  • Connect the adapter to the dock’s PD input, not to a USB data socket.
  • Temporarily unplug bus-powered storage and other accessories to reduce dock-side consumption.
  • For Lenovo, verify whether your unit follows the 45W support-page figure or the 65W specification-PDF figure before judging its behavior.

USB or Ethernet devices disconnect

  • Reduce the number of bus-powered devices and test each one separately.
  • Use a powered peripheral hub for high-draw storage or multiple accessories.
  • Reconnect the host cable firmly and avoid placing tension on the handheld’s USB-C port.
  • Install current chipset, USB and Ethernet drivers supplied for the handheld’s operating system.

The handheld does not sit securely

  • Remove or change a case that interferes with the stand or connector.
  • Check whether the port is centered where the cradle expects it.
  • Use the dock as a cabled hub on a flat surface if the device is electrically compatible but not physically shaped for the stand.

Bottom line

The ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 is the more capable gaming dock on paper: its HDMI 2.1 output, documented 4K/144Hz ceiling, HDR/VRR/ALLM support, three USB-A ports and up-to-80W host path suit a high-refresh monitor or living-room battlestation. Buy it with a suitable 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger and verify that the non-ROG handheld supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB Power Delivery and the physical connection you need.

The Lenovo Legion Go USB-C Dock is the more straightforward choice for a Legion Go and a 4K/60Hz or 2K/120Hz display, especially when its official fit and USB-C data port match your desk. Its conflicting 45W and 65W host-power documentation is a material caveat: identify the exact SKU and regional revision instead of assuming one figure applies to every unit.
