Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 5090 OC Edition is most compelling when a build needs flagship GPU power and a thinner-than-usual card: it measures 50mm thick, or 2.5 slots, while retaining the RTX 5090’s 32GB of GDDR7. TechRadar’s June 2026 testing found only about a 3% gain over a stock RTX 5090 in OC mode, so its premium is chiefly about fit, USB-C display output, and design—not a major performance jump. It is worth considering for a space-constrained creator workstation, but buyers with room for a conventional card should compare current local prices before paying extra.
What makes this ProArt RTX 5090 different?
This is a specialized version of NVIDIA’s flagship RTX 5090, rather than a substantially faster GPU. ASUS’s product page lists a 2.5-slot design, two 115mm Axial-tech fans, a vapor chamber, liquid-metal GPU cooling, a double-vented backplate, and a USB Type-C display output. A brown wood-patterned laminate trim gives it a quieter visual style than many gaming-focused cards.

ASUS announced the card with 32GB of GDDR7 on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture and a claimed 3352 AI TOPs. That AI figure is a vendor claim, not an independent benchmark. The USB-C port may be useful for a portable display or a compatible multi-monitor setup, but check the display’s input and the connection requirements of your workflow before treating it as a deciding feature.
Does the card fit a compact workstation?
TechRadar reports dimensions of 304 × 140 × 50mm. The 50mm thickness is the notable advantage: it may preserve adjacent expansion-slot clearance compared with thicker RTX 5090 designs. But “2.5-slot” does not guarantee compatibility with every small-form-factor case. Measure the available GPU length, height, thickness, and clearance around the power connector, and consider whether the case can feed the card enough cool air.

- Check the case’s GPU clearance against all three card dimensions, not just its advertised maximum length.
- Allow room for the angled 16-pin socket and the power cable; avoid a sharp bend immediately at the connector.
- Confirm which neighboring PCIe slots or devices will be blocked in your motherboard layout.
- Assess intake and exhaust airflow. A compact fit is not useful if the card is starved of air.
ASUS describes the design as suitable for small-form-factor workstations as well as larger towers. That is a design aim, not a guarantee of fit in a particular case.
How fast is it for creator work and gaming?
The card retains the RTX 5090’s core specifications. TechRadar lists 21,760 CUDA cores, 32GB of 28Gbps GDDR7 on a 512-bit bus, PCIe 5.0, a 2482MHz default clock, and a 2512MHz OC mode. In its tests, OC mode was about 3% faster than a stock RTX 5090—a modest difference that is unlikely to justify a large premium on performance alone.

TechRadar tested with 3DMark, Geekbench 6 Compute, Blender, Cyberpunk 2077, and Black Myth: Wukong. Its review summary reports roughly 45–50% better results than an RTX 5080 in compute workloads and up to 60% in gaming; the detailed compute comparison puts the RTX 5090 about 50% ahead of the RTX 5080 on average and around 40% ahead of an RTX 4090. These are results from that review’s system and workload set, not guaranteed gains in every application or game.

How do temperatures and noise compare with the slim design?
TechRadar measured peak GPU temperatures around 75–76°C and peak memory temperature of 86°C, with a peak sound level of 36dB in its test conditions. It found the fans relatively quiet for a slim RTX 5090, but reported noticeable coil whine under heavy load, sometimes louder than the fans. Fan noise and coil whine are distinct: a low fan reading does not mean the card will be silent.
The review also found that changing modes trades a little speed for lower heat and noise:

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Standard mode: about 5% cooler and 6% quieter than OC mode, with little performance difference.
- Quiet mode: about 7% cooler and 6% quieter than OC mode, with around 2% less performance.
Those percentages and temperatures are specific to TechRadar’s review. Larger premium or AIO-cooled RTX 5090 cards may run cooler, quieter, or offer more overclocking headroom, but they also take up more space. If noise sensitivity is a priority, coil whine is a meaningful uncertainty to weigh rather than assuming the slim card’s quiet fans make it the quietest option.
What power supply and connector should you plan for?
TechRadar reports that a 1000W power supply is recommended and that the card includes a 1-to-4 power adapter. Its review also notes an angled 16-pin socket. This is a review-specific recommendation, not a substitute for checking current ASUS guidance or sizing the supply for the complete system.

Before buying, confirm the required connector, cable routing, and PSU capacity for your CPU, other components, and intended workload. ASUS has showcased 1200W and 1600W ROG Thor III supplies, but neither is established as mandatory for this card. Choose a PSU based on the complete build and current manufacturer requirements, not the GPU in isolation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How much does it cost, and is the premium justified?
There is no single dependable global price in the available dated listings. TechRadar’s June 2026 review reported approximately $4,099 in the US, £3,799 in the UK, and AU$6,499 in Australia. The ASUS UK product page displayed £4,499.99 when crawled. Those are separate source-specific snapshots, not a current worldwide price; check local retailers for present pricing and stock.
The premium is easiest to justify if you specifically need a 2.5-slot RTX 5090, value the USB-C output, or prefer the ProArt styling in a workstation. If your case can accommodate a thicker card and you do not need these features, compare current prices for other air-cooled RTX 5090 models: the review found the ProArt’s core performance close to a stock RTX 5090, not a major step above it. A larger premium or AIO-cooled model may be more attractive if cooling or overclocking headroom matters more than expansion clearance.

| Option | What to weigh | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| ProArt RTX 5090 OC | 2.5-slot thickness, 32GB GDDR7, USB-C display output; review found about a 3% OC-mode uplift over a stock RTX 5090 and noticed coil whine under heavy load. | Compact workstation builds that need RTX 5090-class capability and value its particular features. |
| Cheaper air-cooled RTX 5090 | Compare actual local price, dimensions, cooling, noise, and display connections; the review says similarly performing models may be cheaper. | Buyers who need RTX 5090 performance but not the ProArt’s specific form factor or extras. |
| Larger premium or AIO-cooled RTX 5090 | May offer lower temperatures, less noise, or more overclocking headroom, at the cost of more space. | Systems with room for a larger card where acoustics or cooling matter more than slot clearance. |
| RTX 5080 | The reviewed RTX 5090 led it substantially in TechRadar’s compute and gaming tests, but the 5080 can suit buyers willing to accept less performance and memory capacity. | Buyers whose workloads do not require RTX 5090 performance or 32GB of GPU memory. |
Who should buy the ProArt RTX 5090 OC?
- Consider it if your case or expansion layout makes a 2.5-slot RTX 5090 unusually valuable, and you can verify fit and airflow.
- Consider it if 32GB of GPU memory and flagship performance suit your creator or AI workload, and USB-C display output or the understated styling is useful to your setup.
- Look elsewhere if you have room for a thicker card and the ProArt features do not solve a specific problem; compare local prices for other RTX 5090 models.
- Look elsewhere if quiet operation is essential and you are unwilling to accept the possibility of audible coil whine under heavy load.
- Consider a lower tier if the RTX 5090’s performance or 32GB capacity is unnecessary for your actual applications.
