A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11To reduce burn-in risk on an ASUS ProArt P16 OLED, leave ASUS OLED Care enabled in MyASUS, keep pixel shift and pixel refresh active, allow Windows to turn the display off when you step away, and avoid displaying a bright, unmoving image for long periods. ASUS says the ProArt P16 ships with these OLED protections enabled by default. A brief afterimage is not automatically permanent burn-in; let the panel rest and complete its protection cycle before deciding that damage has occurred.
What burn-in means on the ProArt P16 OLED
OLED burn-in is permanent uneven pixel wear. It is associated with the same bright, high-contrast shapes remaining in the same places for extended periods. On a laptop, that can mean a fixed application toolbar, spreadsheet grid, editing timeline, or other interface element that never moves. ASUS specifically warns that displaying static images at maximum brightness for an extended time can cause permanent burn-in damage.

A temporary afterimage is different. A faint outline that appears after a long session can fade when the screen is allowed to rest or when the laptop completes its normal OLED protection routine. Treat the symptom cautiously: do not assume that every retained image is permanent, but do not keep using maximum brightness with the same static content while investigating it.
Protection ASUS provides
ASUS OLED Care in MyASUS
ASUS manages the ProArt P16 OLED protection controls through the MyASUS application. The device-settings area presents ASUS OLED Care and its available safeguards. Keep MyASUS installed if you need to change or monitor those settings; Windows display controls alone do not expose every ASUS-specific option.

Pixel shift
Pixel shift moves the displayed pixels slightly so that a fixed image does not continually use exactly the same physical pixels. The movement is designed to be unobtrusive. A barely perceptible shift is therefore a sign that the protection is operating, not a reason to disable OLED Care.
Pixel refresh
ASUS describes pixel refresh as a special screen saver. In MyASUS guidance, it launches after 30 minutes of idleness and refreshes the pixels. The exact toggle can vary with the installed software and model configuration, so enable it whenever the control is available rather than assuming that a missing switch means the feature can be reproduced with a third-party utility.

Pixel cleaning
ASUS OLED support guidance describes pixel cleaning as a calibration process for issues that can arise after the display has been operating for a long time. That guidance says the process takes approximately six minutes, starts automatically when the display turns off, and must not be interrupted by unplugging the power cord. The wording comes from ASUS OLED protection documentation; the controls and prompts you see on a ProArt P16 can depend on its firmware and regional configuration.

| Pixel shift | Moves displayed pixels slightly to vary which pixels show static elements. | Leave it enabled in ASUS OLED Care. | The shift is intended to be unobtrusive. |
| Pixel refresh | Runs a special screen saver after 30 minutes of idleness, according to ASUS MyASUS guidance. | Leave the toggle enabled when it is offered. | Availability and wording can depend on the installed MyASUS version and configuration. |
| Pixel cleaning | Calibrates issues that can appear after long operation. | Allow the cycle to finish with the laptop powered and connected to power. | ASUS OLED support guidance estimates about six minutes and says not to unplug power during the process. |
| Windows display timeout and sleep | Turns off the panel instead of leaving an unchanging desktop visible. | Keep a short, practical timeout and active sleep behavior. | These are Windows settings, separate from ASUS OLED Care. |
How to configure the P16 step by step
- Open MyASUS. Launch the MyASUS app from Windows and open the device-settings area where ASUS OLED Care is presented. If MyASUS is not installed, use ASUS’s support package for the exact P16 SKU rather than downloading an unrelated display utility.
- Check pixel shift. Confirm that pixel shift is enabled. Do not turn it off to eliminate a subtle movement; that movement is the protection mechanism.
- Check pixel refresh. Enable pixel refresh when its toggle is shown. Because ASUS describes it as an idle screen saver, expect it to run when the laptop has been inactive rather than while you are actively editing.
- Set Windows to turn the display off. In Windows, open Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts and choose a screen-off period that fits your work. Keep sleep behavior active for longer absences. The goal is to prevent an unattended desktop from remaining on the panel.
- Use a comfortable brightness level. Do not run maximum brightness continuously during static work. Lowering brightness is especially sensible when a spreadsheet, timeline, or application interface remains unchanged for a long session.
- Save the settings and keep MyASUS available. Firmware or application updates can change the controls that are displayed. Keeping the ASUS utility installed lets you verify OLED Care after an update or reset.
Habits that lower everyday risk
Break up static creative work
Creative applications often place toolbars, panels, and timelines in fixed positions. Move to a different task periodically, scroll the document, or take a break that lets the screen turn off. These pauses reduce the time the same high-contrast shapes remain in one location.

Do not leave a bright desktop unattended
If you walk away, lock the laptop or let the configured display timeout switch the panel off. A static desktop that remains visible while you are away provides no benefit and is exactly the kind of unchanging image the timeout is meant to remove.
Balance brightness with the room
Choose the lowest brightness that is comfortable and readable in your environment. Maximum output is not necessary for ordinary document work, and ASUS’s warning specifically connects maximum brightness plus prolonged static imagery with permanent damage.

Keep moving content moving
When a task requires a fixed layout, use normal application activity rather than searching for a special “anti-burn-in” animation. Scrolling through a document, switching panels, or allowing the built-in idle protection to run is preferable to installing an unverified utility that claims to repair OLED wear.

- Stop the static workload. Close or minimize the application showing the retained shape and avoid maximum brightness while you assess the panel.
- Let the display rest. Lock the laptop or allow the display to turn off. A temporary afterimage may fade without any intervention.
- Allow a protection cycle to complete. If pixel refresh or pixel cleaning starts, leave the laptop powered. ASUS says the cleaning process takes approximately six minutes and warns not to unplug the power cord while it is in progress.
- Inspect the result after normal use resumes. Check whether the outline has disappeared rather than judging it while the cycle is still running. Do not repeatedly interrupt and restart a refresh.
- Contact ASUS support if it persists. If the same image remains after the panel has rested and completed repeated normal protection cycles, provide the exact ProArt P16 model or SKU, a description of the image, and the steps already taken. The available remedy depends on the country and the specific SKU’s warranty terms.
Troubleshooting OLED Care settings
ASUS OLED Care is not visible
Verify that you opened the device-settings area in MyASUS rather than a generic Windows display page. Install the MyASUS version and ASUS system components intended for the exact P16 configuration, then restart the app. If the control still does not appear, record the model and software versions before contacting ASUS; do not substitute a third-party utility and assume it provides equivalent protection.

Pixel shift is noticeable
Pixel shift intentionally changes the position of the displayed image by a small amount. ASUS says the feature is designed to be unobtrusive, but perception can vary with the content on screen. Keep it enabled unless ASUS support instructs otherwise; disabling it removes one of the protections against repeatedly lighting the same pixels.
Pixel refresh interrupts a deadline
Plan idle periods for refreshes when possible. Save work before leaving the P16 unattended and use the Windows timeout so the panel can turn off naturally. If a refresh or cleaning cycle has already begun, do not disconnect power simply to regain the desktop; allow it to finish, then resume work.
The image returns after it fades
A recurring outline is a reason to reduce static, high-contrast usage and review brightness and timeout settings. Complete the normal protection cycles first. If the symptom continues after those changes, escalate with the exact SKU and regional warranty information rather than treating it as a Windows performance problem.

Cleaning the exterior safely
OLED-care settings cannot remove dust or fingerprints from the surface. Clean only the exterior with a suitable soft, dry method or one approved by the laptop manufacturer. Never spray liquid directly onto the panel; apply any approved cleaner to the cloth according to its instructions, keep moisture away from openings, and avoid pressure that could damage the display.
Automatic and manual approaches compared
| Approach | Operation | Effect on creative work | Interruption concern | Where to manage it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel shift | Automatic, continuous pixel movement. | Designed to be unobtrusive during normal use. | No user-started cycle to wait for. | MyASUS ASUS OLED Care. |
| Pixel refresh | Automatic idle screen saver after 30 minutes, according to ASUS guidance. | Runs when the laptop is left idle. | Do not interrupt once it begins. | MyASUS when the toggle is available. |
| Pixel cleaning | Calibration cycle associated with the display turning off. | Requires a short period without active screen use. | Approximately six minutes; keep power connected. | ASUS OLED protection behavior and any exposed prompt. |
| Windows timeout and sleep | Automatic display-off and sleep behavior. | Prevents unattended static content from remaining visible. | May require waking the laptop when you return. | Windows Settings. |
| Manual brightness and work breaks | User-controlled reduction of exposure during static tasks. | Requires a change in routine or visual layout. | No refresh cycle, but consistency matters. | Windows brightness controls and normal applications. |
Warranty and regional support
Burn-in coverage and the available service remedy are not universal. ASUS warranty terms can vary by country, product SKU, and the documentation supplied for that regional model. Before opening a claim, note the complete model identifier, purchase region, display behavior, and whether the image disappears after rest and protection cycles. Use the warranty information for that exact SKU instead of relying on a policy for a different ProArt or monitor model.
