The ASUS Prime AP202 is a spacious microATX showcase case built around a curved tempered-glass panel, a GPU-directed lower intake and support for unusually large components. ASUS lists room for graphics cards up to 420 mm, a top radiator up to 360 mm, CPU air coolers up to 175 mm, power supplies up to 200 mm and up to nine 120 mm fans. The standard AP202 is supplied without case fans; the AP202 ARGB adds three ASUS MR120 ARGB fans and retains the integrated lower light band. It is best for builders who value presentation and component capacity more than the smallest footprint or the simplest mesh-front airflow.

Design: panoramic glass with a showcase purpose
The AP202 uses one curved tempered-glass piece that turns from the front onto the side. That gives a broader view of the motherboard, graphics card, cooler and lighting than a conventional side window. ASUS says the glass is thermally treated and mounted on an easy-detach rail with an anti-drop mechanism.
The visual payoff depends on the build behind it. Clean cable routing, coordinated components and illuminated hardware make the panel effective; unlit parts can appear darker through tinted glass. Expect more fingerprints and visible dust than with an opaque or mesh-front chassis, and handle the panel carefully during transport and installation.
#1 Best Overall
- Curved tempered glass panel extends seamlessly from the front to the side, offering a panoramic view of the components from almost any angle
- Easy-detach rail makes panel removal and reattachment safe and simple
- Patented slot vent provides optimal graphics card cooling
- Integrated ARGB light band works seamlessly with Aura Sync
Airflow: what the lower slot vent is designed to do
Instead of relying on a conventional open mesh front, the AP202 uses a patented lower slot-shaped intake intended to direct fresh air toward the graphics card. That is a sensible priority in a glass-fronted design, where front-to-back intake is less direct. ASUS also publishes an internal comparison with a competitor case; that is a manufacturer test, not independent temperature or noise testing.
Actual results depend on fan orientation, GPU cooler design, ambient temperature, component power draw, radiator placement and whether the lower opening is obstructed by a desk, dust or a thick graphics card. Treat the vent as an airflow concept, not a guaranteed temperature improvement. A sensible starting point is lower intake toward the GPU, with top and rear exhaust.
AP202 versus AP202 ARGB
| Version | Pre-installed fans | Lighting | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| AP202 | None | Integrated lower ARGB light band | Builders selecting their own fans, radiator fans or quieter alternatives. |
| AP202 ARGB | Three ASUS MR120 ARGB 120 mm fans | Integrated light band plus Aura Sync integration | Buyers wanting a coordinated RGB setup without sourcing three fans separately. |
The ARGB model is not automatically cooler or quieter; the included-fan count does not establish either performance. Aura Sync control is most convenient with an ASUS motherboard and other compatible components. Confirm that your board has a 5V addressable-RGB header, and never connect a 5V ARGB device to a 12V RGB header. Lighting and fan-speed control are separate connections.

ASUS lists Armoury Crate support for compatible lighting; current software and hardware details are available through ASUS support.

Radiator and CPU-cooling support
ASUS lists a radiator up to 360 mm, with product listings identifying the top as the supported radiator position. “360 mm” describes radiator length, not guaranteed clearance for every model. Before buying an AIO, verify:
- Radiator thickness plus fan thickness.
- Clearance from VRM heatsinks and high-profile memory.
- Tube and fitting position, including pump placement.
- Whether the chosen motherboard leaves enough vertical space.
An air cooler up to 175 mm tall is listed as supported. Measure the complete installed cooler, including clips and the fan’s highest position, rather than relying only on the heatsink body specification.
Practical cooling layouts
- Air-cooled gaming PC: Use lower intake aimed at the GPU, rear exhaust and top exhaust. Populate only the positions that improve the pressure balance.
- Top 360 mm AIO: Run the radiator as top exhaust, retain lower intake for the GPU and use rear exhaust if clearance allows.
- Quiet build: Use fewer, larger-or-slower fans with a measured fan curve instead of filling every mount.
- RGB showcase: Match fan lighting and verify ARGB-header count, cable length and controller compatibility before buying a full set.
GPU, PSU and motherboard compatibility
The 420 mm GPU limit accommodates many high-end cards, but length is only one dimension. Check card thickness, occupied slots, support-bracket clearance and the power connector’s bend radius. A card can fit physically while restricting the lower intake or leaving an uncomfortable cable bend. Measure with the connector installed, not just the PCB or cooler length.

The case is positioned for microATX motherboards. ASUS lists PSUs up to 200 mm long; a unit at that maximum may fit while leaving limited room for modular cables. Shorter PSUs and flexible cables generally make routing behind the glass easier.

Fan capacity and placement
Up to nine 120 mm fans is a high capacity for a display-oriented mATX chassis, but it is not a requirement to install nine. The exact factory arrangement of the three fans in the ARGB version and the maximum layout with a radiator should be confirmed against the case manual. Plan airflow direction first, then decide how many fans are necessary.

The front panel provides a USB-C port rated up to 20 Gbps, two USB-A ports rated up to 5 Gbps and combined headphone/microphone connectivity. The 20 Gbps figure requires a compatible internal motherboard header; the case cannot create that speed if the board lacks the connection.
A unified front-I/O header can simplify motherboard assembly compared with connecting separate individual switches and LEDs. The 30 mm rear cable compartment is useful for the 24-pin, EPS, GPU and fan wiring, but thick cables still need staged routing. A modular PSU and cable combs can materially improve the view through the glass.
Remove and clean the top and bottom filters regularly, especially the lower filter feeding the GPU intake. Filters reduce dust ingress but also add airflow resistance when clogged. Wipe the glass more often than you would a conventional side panel if maintaining the showcase appearance matters.

- ARGB value depends on your lighting ecosystem and whether you will replace the fans.
- ASUS’s airflow comparison should not be treated as independent thermal or noise evidence.
Who should buy the AP202?
Choose it for a microATX gaming or creator system where component visibility, a long GPU, a top 360 mm AIO option and abundant 120 mm fan positions matter. The AP202 ARGB is the convenient choice for a coordinated ASUS-themed RGB build; the base AP202 is more flexible when you already own fans or want to choose quieter, higher-pressure or reverse-blade models.
Consider another case if your priority is the smallest mATX footprint, unrestricted mesh airflow, broad ATX or back-connect motherboard support, minimal cleaning, or a design with clearly separated intake and exhaust chambers. Also look elsewhere when your specific build combines an unusually thick radiator, very long PSU and oversized multi-slot GPU near the published limits.
For current regional specifications, consult the AP202 product page. The ARGB variant is documented on ASUS’s UK product page and regional pages such as ASUS Canada.
