ASUS announced the 14-inch ExpertBook A7 on October 14, 2026, positioning the thin-and-light Windows laptop as an alternative to Apple’s MacBook Air M5. Its headline features are a 3K OLED screen with a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz, an all-metal chassis starting at 1.2kg, AMD Ryzen AI processors and business-focused security support.
A slim aluminum business laptop
ASUS says the ExpertBook A7 is precision-milled from 6000-series aluminum. The chassis is about 1cm thick and starts at 1.2kg, with Lunar Silver and Eclipse Black finishes. Those figures apply to the lightest configuration; the final weight can vary with the selected processor, display treatment and other components.

The design is aimed at people who want ultraportable dimensions without giving up business-management features. ASUS describes the launch as “the new measure of modern mobility, combining refined aesthetics, an ultraslim all-metal design, smooth performance, and dependable assurance.”
Its 120Hz OLED display is the main differentiator
The 14-inch panel has a 2880×1800 resolution, which ASUS markets as 3K. It uses OLED technology and supports variable refresh rates from 48Hz to 120Hz. Scrolling, animation and compatible video can therefore appear smoother than on a conventional 60Hz laptop display, while the lower refresh range can reduce power use during static work.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Resolution: 2880×1800 (3K)
- Panel: OLED
- Variable refresh range: 48–120Hz
- Color coverage: 100% DCI-P3
- Surface option: anti-glare treatment available on some configurations
ASUS has not published independent measurements for brightness, color accuracy or response time for the exact ExpertBook A7 configuration. Buyers should confirm the panel option and regional specification before ordering, particularly if glare control matters in an office or bright room.
AMD Ryzen AI processors and capped memory
The announced AMD version is available with either a Ryzen AI 5 330 or Ryzen AI 7 345 processor. Memory is up to 16GB of LPDDR5X, and storage is up to a 512GB PCIe SSD. Because the memory is specified as LPDDR5X rather than user-replaceable modules, prospective buyers should select enough RAM at purchase for their expected workload.

These specifications suit office applications, browser-heavy work, communications and common creative tasks. ASUS has not supplied independent benchmark results for the A7, so there is no verified head-to-head performance result against the MacBook Air M5. Processor efficiency, sustained performance and application support will also depend on whether a workload runs in Windows or macOS and whether it is optimized for each platform.

Battery claims and charging
ASUS claims up to 21 hours of battery life and says the laptop can reach 50% charge in 30 minutes. The 21-hour number comes from ASUS internal testing, not an independent real-world test; endurance will vary with processor, screen settings, refresh rate, software and workload. The fast-charge figure likewise describes ASUS’s stated charging capability under its specified conditions.

Business security and support
The ExpertBook A7 includes the ExpertGuardian security package, fingerprint and FIDO2 authentication, and a TPM 2.0 security chip. ASUS also lists MIL-STD-810H testing and promises five years of BIOS and driver security updates. These features are relevant to organizations that need hardware authentication and a defined period of firmware and driver maintenance, although MIL-STD testing does not guarantee that every retail unit will withstand any particular accident.

How it compares with the MacBook Air M5
The ExpertBook A7’s clearest hardware advantage on paper is its 120Hz OLED panel; MacBook Air buyers should verify the refresh-rate and panel technology of the model they are considering. ASUS also offers Windows compatibility and business controls, while the MacBook Air remains part of Apple’s macOS ecosystem. Chassis weight, thickness, processor efficiency, battery-test methods, ports, memory and storage configurations, support policies and regional pricing all need to be compared on the exact retail models rather than from headline specifications alone.
