The refreshed ASUS Chromebook CX15 is a large-screen Chromebook for basic daily work, not demanding multitasking. In RTINGS’ 2026 review, the tested CX1505CTA-WS48P paired an Intel Processor N50 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of eMMC storage. RTINGS found it suitable for browsing, streaming and documents, but also noted modest performance, slow storage, a washed-out display and relatively short battery life. Those findings apply to that configuration—not every Chromebook sold as a CX15.
Which ASUS Chromebook CX15 configuration is this?
The CX15 name covers distinct models. The refreshed 2026 unit reviewed by RTINGS is the CX1505CTA-WS48P, with an Intel Processor N50. It is not the older CX1505CKA with a Celeron N4500, nor the separately branded Chromebook Plus CX15 with a Core 3-N355. Their specifications and review results should not be treated as interchangeable. RTINGS’ review identifies the tested configuration; ASUS’ CX15 specifications show the broader family’s options.

Across the product family, ASUS lists processors ranging from Celeron N4500 and Intel N50/N150/N250 to Core 3-N355; onboard memory from 4GB to 16GB; and eMMC storage from 64GB to 256GB. Availability and combinations vary by market. Check the complete model code and regional listing before relying on any specification.

The reviewed CX1505CTA-WS48P has 4GB of RAM, 128GB of eMMC storage and a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display. RTINGS says its unit was manufactured in March 2026. ASUS describes the memory as onboard, and RTINGS says the reviewed family’s memory and storage are not upgradeable, so do not assume you can add capacity later.

Is the CX15 good for school and everyday use?
Browsing, video and documents
For a light workload—web browsing, streaming and writing documents—the tested N50 model can make sense, according to RTINGS. Its 4GB of memory and modest performance are a poor fit for heavy multitasking, many demanding browser tabs or performance-intensive work. Slow eMMC storage is another limitation if you expect a particularly responsive experience.
Display: large and Full HD, but check the panel
The 15.6-inch screen offers a 1920 × 1080 resolution, a useful amount of workspace for documents and a larger view for video. RTINGS describes the IPS panel on its test unit as washed out, so resolution alone does not guarantee vivid image quality. ASUS lists both wide-view 300-nit and TN 250-nit non-touch panels across CX15 configurations; check the exact SKU’s panel type and brightness rather than assuming every CX15 matches the reviewed IPS model.

Battery life: no 2026 test figure established here
RTINGS characterizes the refreshed N50 model’s battery life as relatively short, but its review passage does not provide a specific runtime figure. TechRadar measured seven hours of continuous video playback on an older Celeron N4500 CX1505 review unit in 2025. That result is context for the older model only, not a battery test of the 2026 N50 configuration. TechRadar’s older CX15 review identifies the model and test context.
Ports and specifications vary by SKU
ASUS’ current specifications list one or two USB-C ports depending on the model, along with USB-A, HDMI 1.4 and a combination audio jack. The number of ports and other details can differ, so confirm the exact product code if you rely on a particular connection or plan to use a hub. ASUS’ CX15 specifications page is the primary reference for its listed configurations.

How does it compare with older and Plus CX15 models?
Compare full model codes, not just “CX15.” The older CX1505CKA uses a Celeron N4500, while the refreshed CX1505CTA reviewed by RTINGS uses an Intel Processor N50. A Chromebook Plus CX15 with Core 3-N355 is a separate, higher-tier product. An older-model review or test cannot establish how the refreshed N50 configuration performs.
When comparing offers, check processor, RAM, storage, display panel and brightness, port count, dimensions and weight, and battery results measured under comparable conditions. A stronger processor or more memory may matter more than the shared CX15 name if your workload involves multiple apps or tabs. ASUS announced the CX14/CX15 family in April 2025 with Full HD display and processor and memory options; its announcement also describes a Chromebook Plus option.

Price and availability depend on date and market
On May 18, 2026, ASUS announced US Walmart availability for the refreshed N50 CX15 at a starting price of $199. That is a dated launch price, not a current price or guarantee of stock. Check the live listing for the exact model suffix, configuration, price and availability in your region. ASUS’ availability announcement documents the launch information.
Durability claim and what it establishes
In an April 18, 2025 press release, ASUS said the CX14/CX15 series was tested to meet or exceed the MIL-STD-810H US military-grade standard. This is ASUS’ statement about the series; it is not a substitute for checking the warranty or the conditions and scope of any durability testing. ASUS’ press-release archive provides the family announcement.
