Created by the 7 Fingers Troupe, it brings acrobatics, parkour, theatre and historical storytelling to the Assassin’s Creed universe. By contrast, the latest released game, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, is an interactive pirate adventure that players control. Heredis is designed to be understandable without prior knowledge of the games.
Heredis is a live show, not a playable Assassin’s Creed
Ubisoft describes Heredis: Echoes of the Past as a “new, wholly original live show with Assassin’s Creed.” It combines acrobatics and parkour with theatre and history. Its announced story follows a young man travelling across history in search of his lost father.

The practical difference is how you experience it: an audience watches performers tell a story on stage, while a video game gives the player direct control over characters and gameplay. Ubisoft says viewers do not need prior knowledge of the series, so Heredis is intended to work as a standalone story within the franchise world. It is not described as an adaptation of a particular game.

Which game is the most recent?
As of October 4, 2026, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the newest released game in this comparison. Ubisoft says it launched on July 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Its Caribbean setting and Edward Kenway story make it a direct contrast with Heredis: one is played, the other is watched.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, released in 2025, is another recent point of comparison. Its June 16, 2026 final update added a concluding story chapter for Naoe and Yasuke, challenge content and a narrative bridge to Black Flag Resynced.

Announced projects are not released games
In its March 4, 2026 franchise update, Ubisoft listed Codename Hexe, Codename Invictus and Assassin’s Creed Jade as projects in development. Ubisoft characterized Invictus as a PvP multiplayer experience and Hexe as a darker, narrative-driven experience, but the update did not give release dates for these projects. They should not be confused with games already available to play.

That status distinction matters when comparing Heredis with the current game lineup: Resynced is released, Shadows is a recent released game with a final update, and the other projects named in the March update were still in development at that time. Ubisoft’s March 2026 franchise update is the source for those project descriptions and status.
