ASML’s miniature of its TWINSCAN EXE:5000 High-NA EUV lithography machine is real, but it was an employee-store item rather than a normal retail LEGO set. Reports put its original price at €208, while a later collector listing identifies an unopened 851-piece employee edition. The often-mentioned open 810-piece fan replica has not been independently verified: no confirmed designer, instructions, license or public sales channel has been established.
What the official ASML model is
The model represents ASML’s TWINSCAN EXE:5000, the company’s High-NA extreme-ultraviolet lithography platform. ASML presented the miniature as a fun 40th-anniversary item for employees, not as a product distributed through ordinary toy or electronics retailers.

Reports published in December 2024 said the employee-store price was €208. ASML spokesperson Monique Mols summarized the restriction plainly: “Sorry, but it’s only for ASML employees.” That means a person who was not eligible for the employee store could not simply order a new kit from ASML’s public website.

The miniature is LEGO-style construction, but the available evidence does not establish a public LEGO-branded collaboration or a standard retail product number. Treat listings that imply broad official retail distribution with caution.

How many pieces does the ASML EUV kit have?
The best-documented count for the official employee edition is 851 pieces. A Catawiki listing described an unopened employee edition with that count and identified it as non-retail merchandise. Because this is a collector-market listing rather than a published ASML product specification, buyers should verify the box, seals and contents before treating 851 as a definitive manufacturer specification.
| Item or claim | What is established | What remains uncertain |
|---|---|---|
| Official employee edition | ASML employee-store miniature; reported original price €208 | Public retail availability and a formal LEGO product number are not established |
| Collector example | Unopened 851-piece employee edition listed on Catawiki | Seller provenance, final sale price and authenticity require case-by-case verification |
| 810-piece fan replica | Referenced as an open fan-made claim | Creator, instructions, licensing, sales channel and even existence remain unverified |
Can you buy the ASML High-NA EUV set?
Not as a normal new retail purchase based on the documented information. The original distribution was limited to ASML employees, so non-employees would need to look for a secondary-market example. A collector listing can show that sealed examples circulate, but it does not guarantee current inventory, authenticity or a particular final price.

Checks before buying a resale example
- Ask for clear photographs of the box, seals, piece bags, printed material and any employee-store packaging.
- Confirm that the listing identifies the employee edition and the claimed 851-piece count rather than conflating it with the 810-piece fan claim.
- Request provenance, such as an original purchase record or a credible chain of ownership, while recognizing that employee privacy may limit documentation.
- Check the platform’s buyer protection, return rules and authentication process; participation and guarantees vary by listing and country.
- Calculate shipping, taxes, insurance and platform fees in addition to the seller’s headline price.
The €208 figure is the reported original employee-store price in 2024, not a guaranteed resale value. A €350 million figure sometimes mentioned alongside the kit refers to a reported price for a full-size EXE:5000 machine, not the miniature.
What the model represents: High-NA EUV in context
High-NA EUV increases the numerical aperture of the EUV optical system to 0.55. ASML’s 2024 annual report says the first EXE:5000 installation was finalized in 2024 after about a decade of development. The platform is intended for advanced semiconductor manufacturing, where its resolution and patterning capabilities can support leading-edge process development.

- GIFT FOR ADULTS – This collectible home decor LEGO set makes a great present for you or another creative adult who is a lover of history, architecture, travel or Italy
That engineering context helps explain the model’s appeal to collectors: it depicts a specialized production system that is far too large and expensive to own in full size. It does not, however, turn the miniature into a functional demonstration tool; the kit is a display collectible.
What is known about the claimed open 810-piece fan replica?
The 810-piece version should be treated as an unconfirmed fan-replica claim, not as a second established ASML product. No reliable source in the available record confirms who designed it, whether complete building instructions exist, whether the model was physically completed, or where it can legitimately be obtained.

Consequently, do not rely on a social-media image, an unlabeled parts list or a marketplace title alone. Until a primary source supplies the designer’s identity, build documentation and a verifiable distribution method, statements that the replica is “open,” downloadable or for sale are claims rather than facts.
How to evaluate a future fan-replica source
- Look for a named creator and a dated original post or project page.
- Check for complete instructions, inventory and photographs showing the same finished model from multiple angles.
- Determine whether the design is an independent fan work or uses ASML, LEGO or other protected branding without permission.
- Verify that any download or purchase page belongs to the creator and explains refunds, files and support.
- Compare the claimed 810-piece inventory with the official employee edition’s separately reported 851-piece count.
Why the official miniature is rare and expensive
Scarcity begins with distribution: an employee-only run creates far fewer opportunities to acquire a sealed example than a mass-market set. The subject itself also appeals to a narrow technology-collector audience, while the full-size EXE:5000 is an unusually specialized and costly machine. Secondary-market prices therefore reflect condition, provenance, demand and transaction costs rather than the original €208 price alone.

For buyers, the practical distinction is simple: an employee-edition model can have collectible provenance, while the alleged 810-piece fan replica currently has no independently confirmed provenance or availability. Treat them as different categories until primary documentation closes that evidence gap.
