The main practical checks are whether its installation dimensions suit your cabinetry and whether you can confirm availability, warranty and service support.
What the DFI654B.AU is
This Australian-market model is a fully integrated dishwasher, so it is intended to sit behind a cabinet panel. ASKO’s specification sheet identifies it as product code 729063; the operating manual lists capacity at 15 place settings. Confirm the required panel, kick-plate and fixing arrangements in the installation documentation rather than assuming an existing kitchen fit-out will work.

Width and depth are consistently listed as 596 mm and 559 mm. Height is not expressed consistently across ASKO’s documents: the specification sheet gives 819 mm and a maximum product height of 869 mm, while the manual gives an adjustment range of 819–872 mm. Do not assume those maximums are interchangeable. Check the actual installation guide, available cavity height, leg adjustment, cabinetry and required clearances before ordering or arranging installation.

Because the machine is fully integrated, also verify the cabinet-door panel dimensions and attachment method, along with the plinth or kick-plate arrangement. An owner has asked about missing integrated kick-plate brackets, but no confirmed compatible part number is established. If brackets are absent, ask ASKO or an authorised parts supplier to identify the correct kit for product code 729063 before buying a replacement.
Cycles, time and efficiency context
The operating manual identifies Eco as the standard program used for energy labelling and lists a duration of 2 hours 50 minutes. ASKO’s specification sheet gives 169 minutes for the reference program—the same duration expressed in minutes. Eco duration is useful when planning a wash, but it should not be read as a promise that every program takes that long. The annual energy estimate and reference-program figure likewise describe published label-related use, not guaranteed consumption in every home.

Independent test evidence and owner reports
CHOICE lists the model and reports it as discontinued, with the label figures and a two-year warranty. Its expert rating and wash, drying, energy-efficiency, reliability and satisfaction scores are member-only on the accessible listing, so there is no basis here to assign the dishwasher a performance verdict from those tests.
Individual ProductReview.com.au posts mention an F56 message, cleaning, basket movement and service; another owner reports favorably on loading, drying and noise. These are a small number of self-selected accounts, not representative testing or evidence of a typical failure rate. Use the model manual for fault-code instructions and contact ASKO support if a code persists.

CHOICE says the exact model is discontinued. An indexed retailer listing does not confirm that it is currently in stock or establish a current price. Before committing to new-old stock, refurbished or used stock, confirm the exact model suffix, condition, included installation hardware, return terms and warranty coverage in writing. No verified current offer or compatible replacement-bracket listing is established here.
If comparing it with another dishwasher, prioritize cavity and panel fit, independently measured washing and drying performance, cycle duration, label energy and water use, noise, warranty and service access, and the total current price. The published figures above provide specification context, not a side-by-side performance comparison.

Care and basic troubleshooting
Loading and filters
- Scrape large food particles off dishes before loading.
- Do not stack items on top of one another; ASKO says stacked items will not wash properly.
- Clean the coarse filter after each wash.
- Clean the stainless filter every three months, or sooner depending on use. Follow the DFI654B.AU manual for the full cleaning procedure.
- Use dishwasher-specific detergent. ASKO says rinse aid helps drying.
Basket movement or a door that will not close
ASKO’s Australia FAQ says a basket that rolls out may indicate the dishwasher is not level and recommends adjusting the rear leg. A door that will not close properly may point to incorrect installation; consult the use and care guide or ASKO service rather than forcing it shut.
Delicate items and fault codes
ASKO’s FAQ says delicate glassware can go in if it is dishwasher safe. For model-specific program guidance, filter steps and fault-code meanings, use the DFI654B.AU manual or contact ASKO support.
