The safest sequence is to identify the affected product, update and restart Windows, repair the Windows image with DISM and SFC, then reinstall the affected Aerosoft product from its legitimate installer or account library. Do not use a torrent, crack archive, random DLL site, or a similarly named replacement.
What ascrypt_pro.dll is and why Windows cannot start the program
A DLL (dynamic-link library) contains code that an application loads when it needs a particular function. Windows applications commonly depend on several DLLs; if one is absent, damaged, blocked, or the wrong version, the application may stop before its main window opens. Microsoft describes missing dependencies as a reason an application may fail to run.

File-analysis metadata identifies ascrypt_pro.dll as an Aerosoft GmbH file: version 2.0.0.0, a 289 KB Win64 DLL, with SHA-256 add9a44d81fbe8577ac5ac10b2b44aaf5e799a95001b7c674352a3f22412f3b0. Those details help identify one analyzed file; they do not prove that every copy carrying the same name is genuine or safe. It is not established as a built-in Windows 10 or Windows 11 system DLL.

A recent application update, interrupted installer, partial uninstall, disk error, security-software quarantine, or a damaged Windows component can all produce the same dialog. The exact product and installation path matter: a DLL taken from another Aerosoft product may have a different build or licensing dependency and can make the problem worse.

Recognize the failure and collect the facts first
Before changing files, record the exact wording and identify what launches it. Note the Aerosoft product or other application name, installed version, Windows edition and build, and the full path shown in any expanded error. Also record when it started: immediately after an update, after a crash or power loss, after antivirus action, or after removing another add-on. These details determine whether an application reinstall or a Windows repair is the appropriate first move.
- Application-specific dialog: the message appears only when one Aerosoft title or add-on starts. An incomplete or quarantined application file is the leading possibility.
- Several programs fail: shared Windows components, storage corruption, or broader system damage become more plausible, so run the Windows repair steps below.
- Failure began after security software acted: inspect quarantine and detection history before attempting a reinstall. Do not restore a file unless its provenance is clear.
- Failure began after an unofficial package: stop using that package. Unofficial distributions can alter binaries and licensing files as well as omit required dependencies.
Safety assessment: what the evidence does and does not show
The Aerosoft association and the hash above are identification clues, not a safety certificate. A third-party analysis page recorded three detections among 68 scanners and labeled them probable false positives. That result is metadata from one analysis service, not an independent guarantee that a file on your computer is clean. A file with the same name can be replaced or modified by a malicious installer.
The filename also appears in listings for crack and torrent packages alongside Aerosoft add-ons and key generators. That does not mean an official Aerosoft installation is malicious; it does mean that a DLL obtained from an unofficial package has a materially weaker chain of trust. Treat the source, digital-signature information where available, and the installer that delivered the file as more important than the filename alone.
Do not search for a one-file download simply because the dialog names a DLL. A loose replacement may be the wrong architecture, an incompatible version, a licensing component, or malware. It can also hide the original cause, such as a broken update or quarantined file, and leave the rest of the installation inconsistent.
Prepare a recoverable repair
- Back up personal data and licenses. Copy simulator profiles, saved flights, configuration folders, and custom add-ons to a separate location. Keep product keys, purchase receipts, and the account used to download the installer.
- Close the affected program and its launchers. In Task Manager, end a stuck simulator or installer only when it is clearly no longer responding. Do not delete files from a running installation.
- Check free space and storage health. An installer that cannot write its final files may leave a partial directory. Make enough space for the product and its temporary files before reinstalling.
- Create a restore point if System Protection is enabled. This gives you a rollback option for system-level changes, although it is not a substitute for backing up saves and licenses.
Manual fix sequence for Windows 11 and Windows 10
1. Restart and install pending Windows updates
Restart Windows once, then open Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates. Install available quality, security, and driver updates, restart when requested, and check again until Windows reports that it is up to date. A restart completes pending servicing operations that can otherwise leave applications unable to load dependencies.

Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. A Windows 10 computer can still run installed software, but it no longer receives ordinary security support from Microsoft after that date. Plan an upgrade to a supported Windows release when the hardware and application compatibility allow it; do not treat an unsupported operating system as a reason to download an unverified DLL.
2. Repair the Windows image with DISM
DISM repairs the component store from which Windows system files are serviced. It is useful when several applications fail or when SFC reports that it could not repair everything.
- Open Start, type
Command Prompt, right-click it, and choose Run as administrator. Approve the User Account Control prompt. - Enter the command exactly as shown, including spaces:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestorehealthWait for the operation to reach 100 percent. The process can appear to pause for several minutes; do not close the window or power off the computer. If DISM reports that the source files cannot be found, note the full error. That condition may require a matching Windows installation source or repair installation rather than repeated attempts with a random DLL.
3. Scan and repair system files with SFC
In the same elevated Command Prompt, run System File Checker after DISM completes:
sfc /scannowSFC checks protected Windows files and replaces damaged copies when a valid component-store copy is available. Leave the window open until verification reaches 100 percent, read the final result, and restart Windows even when repairs were successful. SFC normally repairs Windows-protected files; it will not reconstruct an Aerosoft product that was incompletely installed.

4. Repair the affected Aerosoft product through Windows
Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps on Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features on Windows 10. Select the affected Aerosoft entry and use Advanced options > Repair if that control is provided. Some traditional desktop installers instead expose Repair in Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Follow the product’s own repair wizard and restart afterward.

A repair operation may preserve settings while restoring missing files. If no repair option exists, continue with a clean reinstall from the original source rather than copying ascrypt_pro.dll from another computer.
5. Reinstall from an official installer or account library
- Download the current installer from the Aerosoft account library, the original boxed media, or the publisher’s support channel for the product you own. Verify that the installer matches your product edition, simulator version, CPU architecture, and Windows version.
- If the product’s documentation requires it, deactivate or uninstall the existing add-on first. Preserve saves, profiles, and custom scenery before removing anything.
- Restart Windows after uninstalling. This releases locked files and clears pending installer operations.
- Run the installer with a normal administrator-approved account, allow it to finish without sleep or shutdown, and confirm that the target folder is the one used by the simulator or host application.
- Launch the program once before restoring custom add-ons. If it works, add modifications back one at a time so a conflicting add-on can be identified.
If the installer stops, rolls back, or recreates the missing-file dialog, save its log and the exact product version. Repeatedly deleting individual DLLs can remove evidence needed by support and can create a second, unrelated failure.
6. Check antivirus quarantine without weakening protection
Open your security product’s protection history or quarantine view and search for the filename and the affected product. If the DLL was removed, do not blindly choose “restore” or add an exclusion. First run a full scan, remove any unofficial installer or crack archive, and obtain a clean installer through the publisher or reseller from which you purchased the software.
If a newly downloaded official installer is flagged, record the detection name, file path, product version, and scan date. Submit the file or detection to the security vendor through its normal false-positive process, or ask the publisher for guidance. Keep real-time protection enabled while you investigate; a missing file is preferable to executing an unverified replacement.

7. Test permissions, paths, and dependencies
A file can exist but still fail to load if the application points to the wrong directory or lacks permission to read it. Confirm that the DLL is inside the product’s intended installation directory, not only in a temporary download folder. Avoid moving it into C:WindowsSystem32 or another global directory; that can create version conflicts and is not a supported fix for an application-owned library.
Check whether the application was installed under a different Windows account, on a disconnected drive, or in a folder renamed after an update. If the dialog names a second DLL after you restore the installation, treat that as a dependency chain problem and repair the application rather than adding files one by one. Microsoft’s dependency-diagnosis guidance identifies tools such as Dependency Walker for advanced cases; these tools are most useful when interpreted alongside the product’s installer and support information.

DISM or SFC reports errors
Copy the final DISM and SFC messages exactly. “The restore operation completed successfully” indicates that DISM repaired the image; SFC may still find application-specific damage. If DISM cannot locate source files, stop before substituting files from another PC. A repair install using matching Windows media or Microsoft support may be required, especially when multiple Windows components are affected.
The DLL returns after every reinstall
A recurring disappearance suggests that security software is quarantining it, a storage device is corrupting files, or the installer itself is unofficial or damaged. Compare the installed product version with the account library, test the drive for errors using the manufacturer’s diagnostics, and review protection history after each launch. Do not create a permanent security exclusion until the publisher and security vendor have established that the detection is a false positive.
The program still fails with a different error
Capture the new message, Windows build, product version, installation path, and the time of failure. Reinstalling a DLL for the first message may expose a second missing runtime, incompatible simulator version, or licensing service. Resolve those according to the product’s documentation instead of assuming every subsequent error has the same cause.
You no longer have the installer or license
Contact the reseller or Aerosoft support with proof of purchase, the exact product name and version, the error text, and any installer log. Support can identify the correct build and tell you whether an older add-on is compatible with your current simulator. Do not use a key generator or a repacked installer to replace a lost download.

The official reinstall is the appropriate application-level remedy. DISM and SFC are complementary Windows repairs when system corruption is plausible; neither authorizes downloading ascrypt_pro.dll from elsewhere.

When to contact support or replace the installation
Escalate when an official reinstall fails, the file is repeatedly quarantined, DISM cannot repair the image, or more than one program has begun failing. Send support the exact dialog, product and installer versions, Windows build, installation path, protection-history entry, and installer log. Include the file’s hash only as an identification detail; do not present it as proof of authenticity. If the product is an old add-on, ask whether its version is supported by your current simulator and Windows release.
A clean reinstall from a legitimate source is preferable to preserving a broken directory. After the application starts, restore backed-up saves and add-ons gradually, test after each change, and keep a copy of the working installer and license information. If the machine remains unstable across unrelated applications after Windows repair, investigate storage, memory, and broader system health rather than continuing to replace DLLs.
