Articore reported a return to positive EBIT in FY2026, alongside higher gross profit and GPAPA margins. The improvement came while marketplace revenue remained a counterpoint, and management said margins can vary from quarter to quarter because the business is seasonal. At the 1 October 2026 AI & Technology Virtual Investor Conference, executives credited commercial and operating changes for the gains and outlined expectations for FY2027.
What Articore reported for FY2026
Articore’s financial year ended 30 June 2026. Its FY2026 results materials report EBIT of A$10.3 million, a A$21.1 million year-on-year turnaround. EBIT means earnings before interest and tax.
The company reported a 49.6% gross profit margin, up 400 basis points year on year. It also reported a 28.6% GPAPA margin, up 210 basis points. GPAPA means gross profit after paid acquisition; it is a non-IFRS measure, so it is distinct from gross profit margin and should not be treated as an IFRS-defined measure.
Articore also reported A$12.1 million in operating cash flow and A$40.5 million in cash at FY2026 year end. Those cash figures provide context for the turnaround, but they are not margin measures.

What management said drove the margin expansion
At the conference, management attributed the improvement to a combination of operating efficiencies and commercial changes. These are management’s explanations, not independently measured causal estimates.
- Supply-chain efficiencies: Management cited improved costs on blanks, the use of lower-cost third-party fulfillers and the addition of a shipping carrier to increase competition and help mitigate shipping costs.
- Pricing and paid marketing: Executives said pricing changes and more effective paid marketing supported the improvement. Paid acquisition is especially relevant to GPAPA, which accounts for it.
- Artist account fees: Management said optimization of the artist account fee structure contributed about 100 basis points of the 400-basis-point rise in group gross profit margin.
The explanation matters because the two reported margin measures capture different things: gross profit margin reflects gross profit relative to revenue, while GPAPA margin factors in paid acquisition. A change in marketing efficiency can therefore affect the latter without being interchangeable with the former.

Marketplace trends were not uniform
Management’s conference remarks described different performance across the established Redbubble and TeePublic marketplaces. For TeePublic, management cited marketplace revenue growth of 2.8% and gross profit growth of 10.9% in constant currency. Those are marketplace-specific constant-currency figures from the conference presentation and transcript, not reported Australian-dollar growth rates for Articore as a whole.
For Redbubble, management said improved unit economics were partly offset by softer marketplace revenue. That is an important counterpoint to the group margin improvement: better economics per transaction do not necessarily mean revenue is growing.

In the Q&A, the CFO rejected an inaccurate premise about TeePublic posting a 75.2% quarterly gross profit margin. He said Redbubble had a fourth-quarter record and TeePublic was close to a record. These comments concern quarterly marketplace performance, not the FY2026 group margin figures above; the conference transcript does not establish 75.2% as a valid figure.
Are the higher margins sustainable?
Management said it expects the margin levels to hold over the long term, while also cautioning that results move between quarters. Derek Yung, Articore’s Group Chief Financial Officer, said: “There are fluctuations quarter to quarter. We are a seasonal business, so we manage it that way.”

That distinction is useful for interpreting future results: a quarterly high is not equivalent to a full-year group margin, and seasonal variation does not by itself negate the full-year improvement. The conference statements express management’s view; they are not a guarantee that a particular margin will recur in every quarter.

GPAPA margin and operating EBITDA are non-IFRS measures. The guidance should be read as management’s expectations for FY2027, not as a continuation of the FY2026 results already reported.
How to read the margin figures
Comparisons are meaningful only when the period, scope, currency basis and measure match. Articore’s FY2026 gross profit margin is a full-year group result; the marketplace figures in the conference discussion refer to individual marketplaces and, where stated, constant-currency growth. A quarterly record, marketplace growth rate and full-year group margin answer different questions.
