The practical answer is simple: compare your computer with Gryphline’s published minimum and recommended tiers, then plan storage around the larger installation headroom figure rather than the launcher’s final download size. A system at the recommended tier is the safer target for a new PC build, while the minimum tier is only a compatibility floor. The guidance below explains exactly how to check each component, how much space to reserve, why an SSD matters, and what the official specifications do not establish about frame rates.

Official PC requirements at a glance

Gryphline’s current PC requirements define two hardware levels for Arknights: Endfield. The minimum specification is the baseline the publisher expects the game to support; it is not a promise of a particular resolution, graphics preset, or frame rate. The recommended specification is the more sensible target if you are buying or upgrading a desktop and want additional headroom.

Component Minimum Recommended
Processor Intel Core i5-9400F or equivalent Intel Core i7-10700K or equivalent or higher
Memory 16GB RAM 16GB RAM or more
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or equivalent NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or equivalent or higher
Operating system Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit
Graphics API DirectX 11.1 or later DirectX 11.1 or later
Storage 50GB free, plus 40GB required during extraction Not separately stated; the same installation headroom is prudent

Steam’s current storefront listing shows 60GB of available space. That figure does not remove the extraction requirement in Gryphline’s notice: an installation can need the game space and temporary working space at the same time. In practical terms, keep about 90GB free before starting, and leave additional room for patches and normal Windows operation. Gryphline also recommends installing the game on an SSD.

How to interpret the minimum and recommended tiers

Minimum is a floor, not a performance guarantee

The Core i5-9400F and GTX 1060 pairing identifies the lowest published performance class, not a guaranteed 60 frames per second or a fixed visual preset. Official materials do not publish reproducible frame-rate results by resolution, quality setting, or scene. If your computer is close to the minimum, expect to spend time finding a stable settings combination rather than assuming a particular target.

Equivalent hardware can come from a different generation or manufacturer, but equivalence is about overall capability, not a model number alone. A newer card may outperform a GTX 1060 even if its name looks different, while a laptop version with a similar label can perform differently from a desktop card. Treat the named parts as reference points and compare independent performance data for the exact model in your machine.

Recommended is the better buying target

The Core i7-10700K and RTX 2060 class represent Gryphline’s recommended level. Choose this tier or higher when you are assembling a new desktop, because it gives more CPU and GPU margin than the minimum specification. The recommendation still does not define a guaranteed frame rate, ray-tracing mode, or resolution. It is a hardware class, not a benchmark promise.

Storage: plan for the installation process, not only the final game

Why the numbers appear inconsistent

Three figures appear in the current notices: 50GB free plus 40GB during extraction from Gryphline, and 60GB available on Steam’s distribution page. They describe different stages of installation. The extraction allowance is temporary working space used while files are unpacked or verified. Steam’s capacity figure is the space shown on its storefront listing. Neither source establishes a precise, permanent installed size after every update.

To avoid an interrupted install, do not begin with only 60GB free. A safer calculation is:

  • Keep at least 50GB available for the game files.
  • Keep another 40GB available for extraction and verification.
  • Retain extra space for patches, shader caches, save data, and the operating system.

That makes roughly 90GB a sensible minimum of free space before installation, with more headroom preferred. The 90GB figure is a planning total derived from the two published requirements; it is not a separate official installed-size claim.

Why an SSD is recommended

Gryphline explicitly advises installing Endfield on an SSD for a better gaming experience. An SSD can reduce file-loading and asset-streaming delays compared with a mechanical hard drive, although the publisher does not attach a measured loading-time improvement to the recommendation. If your current drive is nearly full, a 1TB NVMe SSD is a practical upgrade category: it provides room for the installation, temporary extraction files, future patches, and other games.

Choose the correct installation drive

  1. Open the launcher or Steam installation dialog and identify the target drive before downloading.
  2. In Windows File Explorer, right-click the drive, choose Properties, and confirm that free space comfortably exceeds the combined requirement.
  3. Prefer an SSD with substantial free capacity rather than placing the game on a nearly full system partition.
  4. Leave the computer powered and avoid manually deleting temporary files while extraction or verification is running.

If an install fails despite the listed capacity, check whether the launcher needs additional temporary space on the Windows system drive. Extraction tools may use that drive even when the final game location is elsewhere.

Check whether your current PC meets the specification

Find the processor and installed memory

  1. Press Windows plus I, open System, and select About.
  2. Read the processor model under Device specifications.
  3. Read Installed RAM and confirm that Windows reports at least 16GB.
  4. Look for System type and verify that the operating system is 64-bit.

The model name matters more than the clock speed shown on the same page. Compare the full processor model with the i5-9400F minimum or i7-10700K recommended reference. Do not count virtual memory or page-file space as a substitute for physical RAM.

Identify the graphics card

  1. Right-click the Start button and open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display adapters and note the complete GPU model.
  3. For additional details, press Windows plus R, enter dxdiag, and inspect the Display tab.
  4. Compare the exact model with the GTX 1060 minimum and RTX 2060 recommended classes.

Systems with both integrated and discrete graphics need extra care. A desktop monitor connected to the motherboard may cause a game to launch on integrated graphics instead of the dedicated card. On a laptop, confirm which GPU the game uses through Windows graphics settings or the vendor control panel; the official pages do not provide a verified mapping for specific laptop GPU variants.

Verify Windows and DirectX

  1. Open Settings, choose System, then About, and confirm Windows 10 or Windows 11.
  2. In the same page, confirm the system type is 64-bit.
  3. Run dxdiag and check the System tab for the DirectX version.
  4. Install pending Windows updates and current graphics drivers before the first launch.

DirectX 11.1 or later is an explicit requirement. A 32-bit Windows installation does not meet the published operating-system requirement, even if the processor and graphics card are fast enough.

Which component should you upgrade first?

Start with the GPU

The graphics card is the clearest dividing line in the published tiers: GTX 1060 class at minimum and RTX 2060 class recommended. If your GPU is below the minimum class, replacing it is usually the first hardware decision to investigate. Compare the exact card’s performance, power connector requirements, case clearance, and power-supply capacity rather than buying by the product name alone.

If the card is already around RTX 2060 performance or better, a graphics upgrade is not automatically necessary. Because no official frame-rate targets are supplied, use your own monitor resolution and desired quality level to decide whether more GPU headroom is worthwhile.

  • Turn on the Bright Lights: With the built-in RGB lighting, take your gaming experience to the next level by pressing the MSI LED button to cycle through lighting options. Customize lighting even further with MSI Center software.

Then check the CPU

The i5-9400F minimum and i7-10700K recommendation are both desktop processor references. A CPU below the minimum can limit frame pacing even when the GPU is adequate. Before replacing a processor, check motherboard socket compatibility, BIOS support, cooling, and whether a platform upgrade would also require new memory.

Do not undersize memory

Sixteen gigabytes is both the published minimum and the published recommendation. That makes 16GB the baseline to install, not a capacity to reduce in a budget build. Moving to 32GB may make multitasking more comfortable when browsers, launchers, recording tools, or other applications remain open, but the official material does not promise a specific gaming-performance gain from 32GB.

Use the operating system requirement as a hard gate

Hardware cannot compensate for an unsupported operating-system architecture. Upgrade a 32-bit Windows installation to a supported 64-bit edition, or use a compatible 64-bit Windows installation, before troubleshooting graphics settings. Confirm DirectX support at the same time.

Desktop and laptop buying guidance

Buying situation Minimum sensible target Safer target What to verify
Existing desktop i5-9400F-class CPU, GTX 1060-class GPU, 16GB RAM i7-10700K-class CPU, RTX 2060-class GPU, 16GB or more 64-bit Windows, DirectX 11.1+, and roughly 90GB free during installation
New desktop build Use the official minimum only when budget is tightly constrained Build around the recommended CPU and GPU classes or newer equivalents Power supply, motherboard support, cooling, and SSD capacity
Gaming laptop Verify the exact discrete GPU rather than relying on a similar name Select a model with a discrete GPU around the RTX 2060 class or higher GPU power limit, cooling, RAM configuration, and available SSD space
Integrated-graphics system Not established by the published requirements Not established by the published requirements Do not assume an integrated GPU is equivalent to a GTX 1060

The official sources do not publish laptop-equivalent mappings, integrated-graphics support statements, or a list of validated models. Laptop buyers should therefore compare the exact GPU implementation and power limit, not just the family name printed on a product page.

Installation and first-launch checklist

  1. Update Windows 10 or Windows 11 to a current 64-bit installation.
  2. Install the latest stable driver for your NVIDIA or other supported graphics hardware.
  3. Confirm DirectX 11.1 or later with dxdiag.
  4. Free approximately 90GB before starting, with additional room for updates.
  5. Select an SSD as the installation destination whenever possible.
  6. Close large downloads and unnecessary applications during extraction so the launcher has access to memory and disk bandwidth.
  7. Allow file verification to finish; interrupting extraction can leave an incomplete installation even when the final folder appears.
  8. On a laptop, connect AC power and select the high-performance graphics profile so the discrete GPU is available.
  9. Launch once with default settings, then change one graphics option at a time if you need to balance image quality and responsiveness.

These steps address installation prerequisites and common configuration mistakes. They do not create an official performance guarantee where Gryphline has not published one.

Troubleshooting by symptom

The installer says there is not enough space

  • Check the target drive and the Windows system drive, not just the folder where the game will end up.
  • Free space for both the 50GB game requirement and the additional 40GB extraction allowance.
  • Remember that Steam’s 60GB listing is not the same as the full temporary-space requirement.
  • Restart the launcher after freeing space so it refreshes the available-capacity check.

The game will not start

  • Confirm Windows is 64-bit and is Windows 10 or Windows 11.
  • Run dxdiag and verify DirectX 11.1 or later.
  • Check that the discrete GPU driver is current and that the game is not selecting integrated graphics.
  • Verify or repair the installation through the launcher or Steam if files were interrupted during extraction.

Performance is lower than expected

  • Compare the exact GPU with the GTX 1060 and RTX 2060 reference classes.
  • Check whether the CPU is below the i5-9400F floor or far below the i7-10700K recommendation.
  • Close memory-heavy applications and confirm that at least 16GB of physical RAM is installed.
  • Monitor temperatures, clocks, and GPU utilization to identify throttling or an incorrect graphics adapter.
  • Do not treat an internet frame-rate claim as an official benchmark; the published requirements contain no reproducible FPS table.

Loading feels slow

Move the installation from a mechanical hard drive to an SSD if possible. This follows Gryphline’s explicit SSD recommendation. It does not imply a guaranteed loading-time percentage, because no such measurement is published.

Release and platform context

Gryphline’s pre-download notice places the worldwide release on January 22, 2026 at 11:00 UTC+8 for PC, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS. Epic lists the same January 22, 2026 release date. A later official announcement records Steam availability after the October 15, 2026 Sanctuary of Ink update. The PC specifications in this guide apply to the Windows build; console and mobile hardware have different platform constraints.

What the official specifications do not establish

The requirements are useful for compatibility planning, but they leave several performance questions unanswered. No official source in the published notices supplies FPS targets, resolution-specific presets, ray-tracing requirements, verified laptop-equivalent models, thermal limits, or benchmark results that can be reproduced across systems. Any article or video claiming a precise frame rate should identify its own hardware, resolution, settings, driver version, and test method rather than presenting the number as a publisher guarantee.

This uncertainty matters when choosing between an upgrade and a new computer. A PC that barely clears the minimum may launch the game, yet the experience can vary with monitor resolution, background applications, cooling, driver versions, and later patches. The recommended tier is therefore a practical buying target, while the minimum tier should be treated as the point at which compatibility becomes plausible.

A simple upgrade decision framework

  1. Check the operating system first. If Windows is not 10 or 11 64-bit, resolve that before changing hardware.
  2. Check storage next. If you cannot free roughly 90GB plus update headroom, move the installation to a larger SSD.
  3. Compare the GPU. Below GTX 1060 class means a graphics upgrade is the most obvious gap; around RTX 2060 class meets the recommended reference.
  4. Compare the CPU. Below i5-9400F class is below the stated floor; i7-10700K class is the recommended reference.
  5. Confirm physical memory. Install at least 16GB; consider more only for broader multitasking needs, since no official gaming gain is specified.
  6. Check the whole platform. A processor or graphics upgrade may require a compatible motherboard, power supply, cooling, case clearance, or a larger SSD.

This order prevents spending money on a graphics card while an unsupported operating system or full drive still blocks installation.

Bottom line for PC players

Use the official minimum as a strict floor: i5-9400F-class CPU, GTX 1060-class GPU, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, and DirectX 11.1 or newer. For a new purchase or substantial upgrade, aim for the i7-10700K and RTX 2060 classes or better. Keep about 90GB free during installation despite Steam’s 60GB listing, install on an SSD, and leave additional space for updates. Those choices align with the published requirements without pretending that the available documents guarantee a particular frame rate.
