That capacity gap is the key trade-off: a full wash load may need to be split before it can be dried. Ariston’s 2020 specification sheet provides the core technical details, but publicly available independent test scores are not accessible, so this review focuses on the documented specifications and clearly distinguishes them from one owner’s experience.
What kind of washer-dryer is the ARWD582WAU?
It is a front-loading washer-dryer combo designed to wash and dry laundry in one appliance. Ariston’s product-category page says it can wash and dry up to 4.5 kg in one process. That is the relevant limit for a continuous wash-and-dry load, even though the washer itself can take up to 7.5 kg.

CHOICE lists the model as discontinued. That does not establish whether a particular retailer still has new or used stock; availability and condition need to be checked with the seller.

Ariston’s 2020 specification sheet rates the machine for 7.5 kg of washing and 4.5 kg of drying. The drying capacity is 3 kg below the wash capacity, so a full 7.5 kg wash cannot all be transferred to the dryer at once. You can wash a larger load and dry it in batches, or keep a wash-and-dry load within the 4.5 kg drying limit.

Will it fit, and what connections does it need?
Ariston’s 2020 sheet gives product dimensions of 595 × 850 × 535 mm and stated built-in dimensions of 595 × 850 × 580 mm. These are not a substitute for checking the installation space: allow for the actual opening, door movement, hoses, and any clearances specified in the manual.

Confirm that the installation and electrical supply are suitable for the location, and use the manual’s instructions for connections and levelling. The sheet puts “66 kg” in a combined net/gross weight field, so it does not establish a precise net weight.
What do energy and water figures tell you?
The available figures conflict, and the sources do not explain why. Keep them separate rather than treating them as a single definitive set:

|---|---|---|
| Ariston, 2020 specification sheet | Energy rating 2.5 / 528 kWh; water rating 4.5 / 61 L | Dry-mode water use: 26 L; a corresponding dryer energy figure is not stated in the sheet |

The sources do not state that these numbers use the same label, test basis, or reporting context. They should not be combined or used to calculate a precise household running cost without resolving that basis. CHOICE’s public page also withholds its expert test results, including efficiency results, behind membership.
What independent performance evidence is available?
CHOICE’s public listing confirms model details including the 7.5 kg wash capacity, 4.5 kg dry capacity, 1200 rpm maximum speed, country of origin (Italy), and a two-year warranty. It marks the model discontinued. Its expert rating and wash and dry scores, cycle time, noise, efficiency, and cost results are members-only; the public listing does not support a specific performance rating.

ProductReview.com.au has one owner review. The reviewer, “Singleguy,” describes washing as satisfactory but drying as slow, reporting about two hours for washing and about four hours for drying. That is an individual account, not a controlled test or a typical-cycle promise. The reviewer also notes that a 7 kg wash load exceeds the stated drying capacity.
Who should consider it?
The ARWD582WAU may suit someone who needs washing and drying in one appliance and is comfortable managing smaller drying loads than washing loads. Before buying a remaining-stock or second-hand unit, check that its capacity, cold-fill connection, dimensions, programme options, and condition match your needs. Because CHOICE lists it as discontinued, confirm parts and service availability for your location with the relevant seller or service provider rather than assuming ongoing retail support.
It is a weaker fit if you routinely want to dry a full 7.5 kg wash load as one batch, need independently verified performance figures before choosing, or cannot accommodate its installation requirements. The available public evidence does not establish a comparative score against current alternatives.
What should you verify before purchase or installation?
- Confirm the exact model designation and whether the unit is new, used, or refurbished.
- Check that the load you expect to dry at once will stay within the 4.5 kg drying rating.
- Measure the installation opening and check the manual for connection and clearance details.
- Verify the electrical supply and cold-water connection requirements for your location.
- Ask about warranty coverage, parts, and service availability; CHOICE lists a two-year warranty, but the public information does not establish terms for every sale or region.
Ariston’s specification sheet supplies the product figures above; its model manual covers installation, first wash, maintenance, pump cleaning, inlet-hose checks, troubleshooting, and service. Follow that manual for model-specific ownership and safety guidance.
