Yamaha’s public product information does not establish one manufacturing country for its whole receiver range, and the country can depend on the model, production period, and market. To find where a particular receiver was made, check that unit’s country-of-origin marking or model-specific documentation.
What Yamaha’s published information does—and doesn’t—establish
Yamaha’s Malaysia catalog lists several receiver families, including AVENTAGE, RX, and TSR/HTR, and models such as the RX-A8A, RX-A6A, RX-A4A, RX-A2A, RX-V6A, RX-V4A, and RX-V385. That identifies products sold through that regional catalog; it does not give a shared factory location for the models.
Yamaha’s RX-V2085/RX-V3085 documentation distinguishes China models by tuner ranges, power supply, and other specifications. This shows that regional variants exist. It does not establish that every receiver—or even every unit of a listed model—is manufactured in China.
What the available model details say
| Model or family | What Yamaha’s cited material establishes | Manufacturing country established? |
|---|---|---|
| RX-V6A | Yamaha’s Malaysia catalog identifies it as a 7.2-channel AV receiver with HDMI 7-in/1-out. | Not stated in the cited catalog. |
| RX-V2085/RX-V3085 | Yamaha documentation distinguishes China models by tuner ranges, power supply, and other specifications. | Not stated as a universal origin for either model; the material establishes regional variants, not a factory location for every unit. |
| RX-V861 | The manual says “Printed in Malaysia.” | Not stated for the receiver. The wording identifies where the manual was printed. |
| RX-D485 | Yamaha’s product page documents HDMI connectivity and notes that specifications can change. | Not stated on the cited product page. |
These details are useful for identifying a product or variant, but none replaces the country-of-origin marking on a particular receiver.

Is the Yamaha RX-V6A made in China or Malaysia?
The cited Yamaha catalog describes the RX-V6A’s receiver specifications, but does not state its manufacturing country. It therefore does not support a definitive answer of China or Malaysia for every RX-V6A. Check the marking on the individual unit and match the full model designation, market, and production details when comparing listings or documentation.
How to check where your Yamaha receiver was made
- Inspect the receiver. Check the rear and underside for a country-of-origin marking, such as “Made in …”.
- Check the original carton. If available, look for its country-of-origin information and make sure the carton matches the receiver’s full model designation.
- Match the regional variant. Compare the complete model name and any market-specific details with the model documentation; tuner and power-supply differences can identify a regional version.
- Use Yamaha’s documentation as supporting evidence. Product pages and manuals can confirm model identity and specifications, but rely on them for origin only if they explicitly identify the manufacturing country for that exact version.
If the unit’s marking and paperwork differ, or the marking is missing or unclear, ask Yamaha or an authorized regional retailer to verify the exact model and unit. A website’s regional language, sales market, or manual-printing location is not a substitute for that confirmation.

Why the manual’s “Printed in Malaysia” wording can mislead
Yamaha’s RX-V861 manual uses the exact wording “Printed in Malaysia.” It describes the printing location of the manual, not necessarily the factory where the receiver was made. The same distinction applies to other documents: a country mentioned in a manual is not proof of receiver origin unless the text specifically says so.

What to compare when buying or identifying a used receiver
- Exact model and market: Similar model names can have regional variants.
- Production period: Origin information for one unit or production run does not establish the origin of all units sold under the model name.
- Country-of-origin marking: Check the physical receiver or matching carton rather than inferring origin from a retailer page.
- Power and tuner specifications: Compare these with the documentation for the intended market.
- Warranty region: Confirm regional warranty coverage separately; warranty eligibility does not establish manufacturing origin.
