That update names Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, but does not say the Oracle games are returning as a collection. Both games are listed in Nintendo UK’s Game Boy – Nintendo Switch Online catalogue, which is a current way to play them in that region—not a new collection announcement.
What Nintendo’s anniversary update actually says
Nintendo’s September 9, 2026 Zelda 40th-anniversary update announces The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled to launch November 5, 2026. It also describes anniversary hardware and accessories, Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo planned for 2027, concerts, digital cards, and a live-action film. It does not announce a collection of Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.

This is a status check of that specific official update, not evidence that Nintendo could never announce the Oracle games separately in the future. As of that announcement, there is no confirmed collection, release date, platform, or edition to report.

- A collectible Game & Watch system packed with Legend of Zelda classics
For collectors, the original releases were Game Boy Color games. Nintendo’s development interview dates their simultaneous European release to October 2001. Original cartridges are a separate, used physical format—not evidence of a new collection. If buying one, check the seller, authenticity, region compatibility, and condition.
How the two Oracle games differ—and connect
| Game | Setting and central mechanic | Antagonist |
|---|---|---|
| Oracle of Seasons | Holodrum; Link uses the Rod of Seasons to change the seasons and overcome obstacles. | Onox |
| Oracle of Ages | Labrynna; Link uses the Harp of Ages to travel through time. | Veran |
Nintendo describes the games as linked adventures: using a password to link them unlocks an expanded adventure and content unavailable in either game alone. Its Nintendo Switch Online feature explains the connection, while Nintendo’s official Zelda history places Link in the parallel lands of Holodrum and Labrynna. The games are therefore distinct titles designed to complement each other, rather than one newly announced game.

Nintendo’s interview about the Oracle games identifies them as Game Boy Color action-adventure titles and says they launched simultaneously in Europe in October 2001. The interview describes Capcom making the games, with Nintendo staff checking in on development. That history explains their original platform and development; it does not announce a modern collection.
