No: Samsung Galaxy Buds are water-resistant to different degrees, not uniformly waterproof. Their protection depends on the exact model, and Samsung’s stated ratings apply to the earbuds—not the charging case. Check your model’s rating before exposing it to water, and do not treat a rating as approval for swimming.
Find your Galaxy Buds model and rating
Samsung’s Germany support page, last updated May 7, 2026, lists these ratings. This is Samsung’s published list for that regional support page; availability and product documentation may vary by market. Confirm the exact model name or model number against the documentation for your earbuds.

What IPX7, IP57, IP54, and IPX2 mean for water exposure
The letters and numbers identify a model’s stated protection rating; they are not interchangeable labels for “waterproof.” Samsung’s support guidance specifies that Galaxy Buds Pro (IPX7) and Buds3/Buds3 Pro (IP57) are rated for freshwater submersion up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. For IP57, the rating also includes dust protection. These are stated rating conditions, not a guarantee that every unit will survive every incident or repeated exposure. Samsung Canada cautions, in guidance comparing Galaxy Buds Pro, Buds+, and Buds Live: “Even though they have a water resistance rating, Samsung earbuds are not intended to be waterproof.” The comparison is model-specific; use the rating for your own pair rather than generalizing across the Galaxy Buds range. Can Galaxy Buds get wet in rain or during swimming?
Rain and everyday splashes
Whether a particular pair can tolerate an exposure depends on its rating and the conditions. Samsung’s listed ratings vary substantially, and the stated IPX7/IP57 submersion conditions are for freshwater. The available Samsung guidance does not establish a general approval for wearing every Galaxy Buds model in rain, so check your model’s documentation and avoid treating water resistance as a guarantee.

Swimming and immersion
Do not infer that IPX7 or IP57 makes Galaxy Buds suitable for swimming. Samsung’s stated freshwater depth and duration are rating conditions, not a swimming recommendation; they also do not establish protection against repeated immersion or every water incident.
What the ratings do not cover
- Charging case: Samsung says the cited water-resistance ratings cover the earbuds, not their charging case. Keep the case away from water.
- Saltwater, pool water, and treated or heated liquids: Samsung’s guidance excludes saltwater, chlorinated or chemically treated water, and heated liquids from the stated protection.
- All liquids or exposure beyond the rating: A water-resistance rating is limited to its stated test conditions; it is not a promise against damage in any wet environment.

How to care for Galaxy Buds after water contact
- Remove them from the water and wipe them. For freshwater contact, Samsung advises wiping the earbuds with a clean, soft cloth and gently shaking out water.
- Rinse promptly if exposed to another liquid. Samsung’s guidance says to rinse with fresh water, then dry thoroughly.
- Do not charge or store them while wet. Ensure the earbuds are fully dry before charging or putting them away, and consult the current care instructions for your specific model after an incident.
