Are Refurbished Kindle Scribes Still a Prime Day Buy? October 2026 Prices and What to Check

The refurbished Kindle Scribe prices in the October 6–7, 2026 Prime Day deal have expired, so the listed discounts are not a live offer. Resourceful Man reported prices of $284.99 for 16GB, $299.99 for 32GB and $319.99 for 64GB. Its 64GB listing has conflicting reference prices, so the headline’s “21% off” should not be treated as a verified discount against a single consistent original price.

What the October Prime Day deal actually listed

Resourceful Man reported these refurbished Kindle Scribe prices for a sale that ran October 6–7, 2026. The figures are a dated snapshot, not current availability or a promise that the same prices will return.

Storage Reported refurbished price Price context
16GB $284.99 Resourceful Man reported the sale price; a reference price was not stated in the cited deal details. Source
32GB $299.99 Resourceful Man reported the sale price; it is $15 more than the reported 16GB price. Source
64GB $319.99 Resourceful Man’s prose compares it with a new-device price of $449.99, while its listing block gives $404.99 as the comparison price and an $85 saving. The two reference prices imply different discount rates. Source

Because the 64GB article gives two different comparison prices, the 21% claim is meaningful only with its reference price specified: $85 off $404.99 is about 21%, while comparing $319.99 with $449.99 implies about 29%. Neither comparison establishes what a new Scribe costs now.

Is a refurbished Scribe a good buy?

It can be, if the lower price matters more than receiving a new device and the listing clearly states its condition, return terms and warranty. The October deal report calls the units refurbished, but the cited details do not establish the precise grading standard, included packaging, warranty coverage or return window. Check those terms on the live seller page before buying rather than assuming all refurbished listings are alike.

#1 Best Overall
Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft 64GB (newest model) — 11” paper-like color display — Write in notebooks, docs, and books. Read in any light. Pen included - Graphite
  • Our most advanced Kindle Scribe – Features an 11” Colorsoft display with front light, built-in notebook, AI tools, and support for popular cloud services.
  • Bring ideas to life in color – The custom-built Colorsoft display delivers high-contrast, paper-like color that’s easy on the eyes without distracting flashes when writing.
  • Get a pen-on-paper feel: The textured surface and responsive display create a smooth, paper-like writing experience. Plus, the included pen never needs charging and has a built-in eraser and shortcut button for tools like the highlighter.
  • More room to read, write, and think – Just 5.4mm thin and 400g light, with fluid performance and a large 11" display that gives you space to work comfortably.
  • Get more out of your notes – Take notes in the built-in notebook, then use AI to find information, ask questions about what you’ve written, and generate summaries. You can also clean up handwriting or convert it to text.

For the specific reported prices, the 32GB configuration was only $15 above the 16GB model. That small gap could make the middle option appealing if you expect to keep more books or documents on the device, but the source does not provide a storage-use estimate or state how much capacity remains available after system software. Choose based on your likely files and the listing’s actual price, not a generalized claim that one capacity is right for everyone.

What the Scribe is for—and which generation the specs describe

The October deal article describes its refurbished Scribe as a grayscale e-reader and writing tablet with a 10.2-inch E Ink screen at 300 ppi, adjustable lighting, an included Premium Pen and Active Canvas for annotating books. It also says that listed device is not waterproof, uses USB-C charging and has no color display. Those details describe the model in that deal article; they should not be assumed to apply to every Scribe generation currently sold.

Amazon’s June 2026 roundup describes its latest Scribe models differently: an 11-inch glare-free display, writing and page-turn improvements, handwriting conversion and summaries, document import from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, and Active Canvas. Amazon says the included Premium Pen “requires no charging to use.” It also reports writing and page turns are 40% faster, but that is Amazon’s comparison for its latest model, not an independent measurement or a specification for the older refurbished device in the October deal. That distinction matters if you are comparing a refurbished listing with a new Scribe: check the exact model and generation rather than relying on the product family name alone. A grayscale Scribe is aimed at reading, handwriting and annotation; if color is a deciding feature, compare it with a color model rather than treating a discount on a grayscale unit as a substitute.

How to decide whether a deal is worth taking

  1. Confirm it is live in your country. The reported offer ended October 7, 2026. Open the current retailer listing and verify the price, storage size, seller, condition and delivery region; deal prices and availability can change.
  2. Compare like with like. Check the current price of the same storage capacity and generation in new condition. Calculate any claimed discount from that current comparison price, not from an unverified list price or a different model.
  3. Read the refurbishment terms. Confirm what “refurbished” means on that listing, what accessories are included, and the applicable warranty and return policy. The October article’s price report does not settle those terms.
  4. Match the screen and features to your use. Decide whether you want grayscale reading and note-taking or a color display, and verify the screen size and software features for the exact generation offered.
  5. Consider protection and fit. Resourceful Man’s author describes the device’s back as slippery and recommends a case; that is personal advice, not an independently tested finding. If you want one, verify that it fits the exact Scribe generation.

Prices and availability vary by market

Do not use a US deal report as a guide to what is available elsewhere. TechRadar’s October 2, 2026 guide listed a UK 32GB Kindle Scribe at £314.99 against £449.99 and a US Scribe at $499.99 at the time of publication. These are dated, market-specific snapshots, not current prices or a direct comparison with the refurbished October US prices above. TechRadar’s October 2, 2026 guide

Prime Day dates and device offers are event-specific. Since the reported sale was October 6–7, 2026, it is no longer accurate to describe those prices as a last-minute purchase opportunity. For a new purchase, use the live listing in your region and weigh its actual condition and generation against the price.
