Logitech speakers can suit music, movies, and gaming, but the right choice depends on the setup you want: the Z407 and Z623 are 2.1 desktop systems, while the Z906 is a 5.1 surround system. Logitech’s specifications establish their layouts, connections, and rated power—not which one sounds best. Choose by source compatibility, speaker placement, and whether you need stereo-plus-subwoofer or multichannel surround.
What “good” means for these Logitech systems
Music, movies, and games can all play through these systems, but support for a use case is not the same as proof of superior sound quality. The available evidence is Logitech product information and a Logitech technical document, not independent acoustic measurements or comparative listening tests. It does not establish that one model has clearer dialogue, more accurate music reproduction, or better positional cues than another.

Power ratings also need context. RMS and peak figures are manufacturer specifications; peak power is not a sound-quality score, and a higher rating alone does not show that a speaker will sound better in your room.
How the three models differ
| Model | Layout and Logitech power ratings | Connections and documented features | Best fit by configuration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z407 | 2.1; 40 W RMS, 80 W peak. Logitech lists a 20 W subwoofer and two 10 W satellites. | Bluetooth 5.0, micro-USB, and 3.5 mm input; wireless control dial with a stated range of up to 20 m, which Logitech says may vary with environmental conditions. | Desktop use where Bluetooth and wired sources, a subwoofer, and a wireless control dial are useful. |
| Z623 | 2.1; 200 W RMS, 400 W peak; THX-certified. | Two 3.5 mm jacks and RCA inputs. | A wired 2.1 desktop setup with a subwoofer. |
| Z906 | 5.1; 500 W RMS, 1000 W peak; THX-certified, with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding. | Optical, coaxial, six-channel direct, RCA, and 3.5 mm inputs. Logitech lists compatibility with several types of devices; verify the particular source’s output. | A surround setup for a room with space for multiple speakers and a compatible source. |
All power figures above are Logitech ratings, not independent measurements. The Z906 technical document lists a 35 Hz–20 kHz frequency response; this specification alone does not establish how it will perform in a particular room.

Which Logitech setup makes sense for each use?
Music
For a desk, the Z407 and Z623 provide a 2.1 arrangement: two satellite speakers plus a subwoofer. The practical distinction in the published specifications is connectivity and listed power, not demonstrated music fidelity. The Z407 adds Bluetooth; the Z623 is described with RCA and 3.5 mm connections. Pick according to how you connect and place your sources rather than assuming the higher wattage rating means better music.
Movies
The Z906 is the option here for listeners seeking 5.1 surround, and it decodes Dolby Digital and DTS according to Logitech. To use that capability, check that the device playing the film can output an appropriate signal through an input the speakers support, and plan for the placement of multiple speakers. If a simpler desktop arrangement is more suitable, the Z407 and Z623 are 2.1 alternatives; the specifications cited here do not establish which system produces better dialogue or effects.

- Convenient Control Pod
- 25 Watts (RMS) Output
- Compact Subwoofer
Gaming
For a desk, either 2.1 model offers a subwoofer-based configuration, with Bluetooth available on the Z407 and wired RCA and 3.5 mm inputs listed for the Z623. The Z906 is relevant if you want multichannel surround and your game system or PC can deliver audio through a compatible connection. Logitech’s published specifications do not independently verify positional accuracy, latency, or competitive gaming advantage for any of these models.

Choose by layout, connections, and room
- Choose 2.1 or 5.1: A 2.1 system has two satellites and a subwoofer; the Z906’s 5.1 layout calls for more speakers and placement around the listening area.
- Check your source: Match the computer, television, console, or other device’s audio output to the system’s inputs. For the Z906, confirm both connection type and whether the source can provide the surround format you intend to use.
- Consider wireless needs: The Z407 documents Bluetooth input and a wireless control dial. Its stated 20 m control-dial range is subject to environmental variation; that figure is not a promise of Bluetooth range.
- Plan the physical setup: Desk space and cable routing may make a 2.1 system more practical; surround sound requires suitable placement for several speakers.
- Use wattage carefully: Compare RMS with RMS and peak with peak, but do not treat either number as a standalone measure of sound quality.
What the published specifications can—and cannot—tell you
Logitech positions the Z407 for music, movies, and games, and documents its inputs, 2.1 layout, and power ratings. For the Z623, Logitech lists a THX-certified 2.1 system and its connections. For the Z906, Logitech documents 5.1 playback, decoding formats, and supported inputs. These facts help determine whether a model fits a planned setup.
