Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds II remain notable for the company’s CustomTune personalization and flexible fit kit, but Bose lists the model as sold from 2022 to 2025. Whether they are worth buying now depends on the price and condition of the unit you find, your fit, and whether you prefer their features to those of Bose’s distinct 2024 QuietComfort Earbuds. The specifications below are Bose’s claims, not results from independent testing.
What are the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II?
Announced on September 7, 2022, the QuietComfort Earbuds II are a noise-cancelling true wireless model. Bose’s current support specification labels them “Sold from 2022 – 2025.” That describes Bose’s stated sales period; it does not establish that every retailer has run out of new stock. Check whether a listing is authorized new stock or a used pair, and compare it with Bose’s newer models before buying. Bose’s product specifications and 2022 launch announcement identify the model and its original positioning.

Bose’s central claim for the earbuds is CustomTune: the company says the feature calibrates sound and noise cancellation to the shape of the wearer’s ear. Bose also describes Aware Mode with ActiveSense, which adjusts noise cancellation when loud disruptions occur. Those are manufacturer descriptions; no independent noise-cancellation, sound-quality, call, or comfort measurements are available here.

The fit kit separates the eartip, which creates the seal, from the stability band, which helps hold each earbud in place. Bose includes three sizes of each component and says they allow nine combinations per earbud. Since ears can differ, try combinations independently on the left and right rather than assuming both sides need the same setup.
#1 Best Overall
- WORLD-CLASS NOISE CANCELLATION: The best noise cancellation of any Bose wireless earbuds is now even better than before. ActiveSense technology smooths spikes in surrounding sound, so even in Aware Mode distractions won’t get in the way.
- CUSTOMTUNE TECHNOLOGY: CustomTune technology analyses your ears and adapts your in-ear headphones to their shape. The result? World-class noise cancellation and custom sound for bigger chills every time you press play.
- NOISE CONTROL: Quickly adjust the level of noise cancellation without using Modes, including turning it off completely to conserve battery.
- IMMERSIVE AUDIO: Bose Immersive Audio spatialises what you’re hearing by taking it out of your head and placing it beyond your Bluetooth earbuds. It’s like listening from the acoustic sweet spot, where songs sound like the artist intended.
- SECURE FIT AND STABILITY: Choose from nine combos of eartips and stability bands to find the snuggest fit for comfortable earbuds. The soft, umbrella-shaped tips seal the opening of your ear to reduce outside noises while stability bands hug them.
- Fit an eartip and stability band to one earbud, then place it in your ear.
- Try other eartip and band combinations if the earbud feels loose or the seal seems incomplete.
- Use the Fit Test in the Bose app to check for sound leakage. Bose says the test uses a tone also used in CustomTune calibration.
The test can help check the seal; it does not establish that the earbuds will fit every ear comfortably. Bose lists the earbuds, Fit Kit, charging case, USB-C to USB-A cable, and quick start guide as box contents. Replacement-part availability and compatibility should be confirmed with the seller before ordering.
How long does the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II battery last?
Bose rates the earbuds for up to six hours of playback per charge and says the case supplies three additional charges. The company also says a 20-minute quick charge provides up to two hours of playback. These are maker-rated figures, not independent runtime results; actual battery life varies with use and settings. See Bose’s launch announcement for the stated figures.

Are Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II waterproof?
No. They are IPX4 water resistant, not waterproof or suitable for immersion. Bose’s owner’s guide says they are designed to resist sweat and weather, but specifically warns not to swim or shower with them or submerge them. Bose also notes that water resistance can decrease through normal wear. Read the QuietComfort Earbuds II Owner’s Guide for the care instructions.

What does the Bose app add?
Bose lists the Bose app for iOS and Android and identifies QuietComfort Earbuds II as a compatible product. At launch, Bose described app controls for noise-control modes, shortcuts, adjustable EQ, and the Fit Test. App functions and firmware can change, so check the current app listing and on-device options rather than assuming every launch-era detail remains unchanged. Bose’s app information is available for the Bose app, and its product compatibility information lists QuietComfort Earbuds II.
How do they compare with the newer QuietComfort Earbuds?
Bose announced a separate QuietComfort Earbuds model in 2024. It is not another name for Earbuds II, and its specifications should not be attributed to the older model. Bose’s announcement for the newer product states up to 8.5 hours of playback, a wireless-charging case, Bluetooth multipoint, and IPX4 resistance. The Earbuds II specifications cited above state up to six hours per charge and do not establish those newer-model case or multipoint features. Bose’s 2024 announcement describes the newer earbuds.

Are Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II worth buying?
They may be worth considering if you find a well-priced, properly supported pair and value Bose’s stated CustomTune approach and adjustable fit kit. They are a less straightforward choice if you want the latest model or features Bose specifically lists for the 2024 earbuds, such as multipoint and a wireless-charging case. Since current stock, used prices, and independent performance results are not established here, make the decision against the actual listing and your priorities rather than the launch-era reputation alone.
