AirPods Pro 3 may be worth considering if you specifically want Apple’s claimed noise-cancellation improvement, its redesigned fit, workout heart-rate sensing or longer listening time with ANC on. Those differences matter most when they address a problem you actually have.
What changes with AirPods Pro 3?
Apple’s current Pro model is AirPods Pro 3, and its comparison page includes AirPods Pro 2. The main reasons an existing owner might switch are noise cancellation, fit, workout tracking and battery runtime—not a need to replace a working pair simply because a newer model is available.

Should you keep AirPods Pro 2 or upgrade?
Keep Pro 2 if it still does the job
If your pair remains comfortable and reliable, its battery lasts long enough for your routine, and its noise cancellation and features meet your needs, there is no clear reason to replace it. That is a practical recommendation based on the differences Apple lists, not a claim that the two models perform identically.

Consider Pro 3 if a particular change solves a real problem
- You want stronger noise cancellation: Apple advertises up to 2x more ANC than Pro 2. Treat that as Apple’s stated comparison, not a promise of a specific improvement in your own listening.
- Your earbuds are hard to keep in place: Pro 3 has a redesigned fit that Apple says is more secure. Trying the fit, if possible, is more useful than assuming the redesign will suit every ear.
- You want workout heart-rate data: Pro 3 adds heart-rate sensing and calorie tracking during workouts, according to Apple.
- You need more ANC listening time: Apple specifies up to 8 hours with ANC enabled on Pro 3. The figure is a maximum, so compare it with your own listening routine rather than treating it as guaranteed runtime.
Check feature support and price before buying
AirPods Pro 3 also support Hearing Test, Hearing Aid, Hearing Protection and Live Translation, according to Apple. Some hearing and translation features depend on availability, region, language, device and software requirements. If one of these is central to your decision, check Apple’s current feature and compatibility information for your location and devices on the product page.
Apple’s US page lists Pro 3 at $249, but that is not necessarily the amount you would pay where you live. Compare current prices for both models in your market before deciding whether the features justify the difference; no current Pro 2 retail price is established here. Apple’s product positioning and prices can change.
