ARCTIC Case Fan Hub Review: Is This 10-Port PWM Hub a Must-Have?

The ARCTIC Case Fan Hub is useful if you need to connect several compatible PWM case fans to one motherboard fan header. It provides ten 4-pin PWM outputs and SATA power, but all connected fans share one control signal; it is not a controller for setting a separate speed curve for each fan. This is a specification and compatibility review, not a hands-on performance test.

What the ARCTIC Case Fan Hub does

The title does not identify a specific ARCTIC model. The product reviewed here is the ARCTIC Case Fan Hub: a ten-port 4-pin PWM hub that adds nine fan connections while using one 4-pin motherboard fan header for control. ARCTIC says it powers the hub from a SATA connection to the power supply, while the motherboard header provides the PWM signal. ARCTIC’s product page describes the fans as running synchronously.

In practical terms, it solves a connection and power-distribution problem, not a per-fan control problem. The motherboard sends one PWM command to the hub, which passes that command to its connected fans. The system receives the RPM signal from the fan connected to socket 1, rather than separate speed readings for every fan. ARCTIC’s FAQ puts it plainly: “Only one PWM signal for all fans can be set with the Case Fan Hub.”

ARCTIC Case Fan Hub specifications

The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements.

#1 Best Overall
ARCTIC Fan Controller – 10 Ports with Individual PWM Control, Windows & Linux (Kernel 7.2+) Support, 2 A per Port, 4.5 A Total, Magnetic or Adhesive mounting
  • OPTIMIZE YOUR AIRFLOW: While multi-fan setups improve cooling, they increase complexity. Using a dedicated fan controller ensures precise management and superior performance for your PC build.
  • MAX OUT YOUR FAN SETUP: Enjoy independent control for every fan, moving beyond limited hub signals for customization.
  • POWER YOUR BULD: Supplies up to 2 A per port and a total maximum current of 4.5 A, unlike motherboards where different ports may provide varying output levels.
  • PLUG & PLAY SUPPORT: Native driver support for both Windows and Linux (Kernel 7.2+) enables compatibility with a wide range of fan‑control and monitoring software.
  • ZERO CABLE CHAOS: Centralized cable management through a fan controller ensures a cleaner build by eliminating the need for extensions and Y-splitter cables.

Warranty Six years, as listed by ARCTIC
Listed US MSRP US$10.99, as listed by ARCTIC; this is not a current retailer quote

ARCTIC lists the electrical specifications in its product information and specification sheet. Check each fan’s current draw against the hub’s per-output limit and check your power supply’s available SATA power connection before installing.

How to install and control it

  1. Mount the hub inside the case. ARCTIC describes adhesive pads and magnetic strips for placement.
  2. Connect a SATA power cable from the power supply to the hub.
  3. Use the supplied cable to connect the hub to a 4-pin motherboard fan header.
  4. Connect compatible fans to the hub’s 4-pin outputs.
  5. Set the fan-control mode or curve in the motherboard’s firmware or control software. The hub relays the PWM signal; it does not create a separate curve for each fan.

Fan behavior depends on the motherboard’s fan settings and the fans attached. Because RPM feedback comes from socket 1, use that socket for a fan whose speed reading you want the system to report.

  • CABLE MANAGEMENT: Case Fan Hub can be placed in housing, it's connected to motherboard with one cable, you can do without many additional cables and lay them freely in the invisible part of housing
  • SYNCHRONOUS FAN CONTROL: Your set PWM signal is passed on synchronously to all fans connected to the Case Fan Hub, the RPM of the first fan slot are read out and returned to your system
  • EXPAND YOUR VENTILATION: Even if you don't have enough fan headers on your mainboard, the case fan hub expands your system by 9 more case fan slots
  • EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY: The fans are powered directly from your power supply via Sata Power, there is no voltage loss at the fan speed and smooth, smooth operation is made possible
  • TECHNICAL DETAILS: Output: 10 x 4-pin PWM Socket, Output Current: up to 1 A per Port, Input: SATA Power + 4-pin Fan Header, Input Current: up to 4.5 A, Dimensions: 55.6 x 86.3 x 14.3 mm, Weight: 50 g

Can you connect 3-pin fans?

A 3-pin fan can physically plug into a 4-pin motherboard fan connector, with the fourth pin unused. Whether it can be speed-controlled is a separate question. ARCTIC says a 3-pin fan may run at a fixed speed unless the motherboard supports voltage-based control. The Case Fan Hub does not provide voltage control, so do not assume that a 3-pin fan connected through it will be regulated. Check your motherboard manual for its control options. ARCTIC explains this in its Case Fan Hub FAQ.

When is a hub better than a splitter?

For a small group of fans, ARCTIC points to PWM splitter cables, including its PST Cable rev2, or PST daisy-chaining. It recommends limiting a motherboard header to five fans because some headers may be limited to 1.0 A. This is manufacturer guidance, not a guarantee for every board: check the header’s current limit and the fans’ current ratings before connecting them.

For more than five fans, ARCTIC recommends the SATA-powered Case Fan Hub to avoid placing the full fan load on a motherboard header. The hub still has its own specified limit of up to 1 A per output and up to 4.5 A input, so confirm the connected fans’ requirements rather than treating SATA power as unlimited.

Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere?

It makes sense if

  • You have several compatible 4-pin PWM case fans and not enough motherboard fan headers.
  • You want those fans to follow one shared motherboard PWM control signal.
  • You can connect SATA power and have checked the fans’ current draw and the hub’s limits.

Look for a different solution if

  • You need independent speed settings or RPM monitoring for each fan; this hub shares control and reports the RPM signal from socket 1.
  • You want voltage-based speed control for 3-pin fans through the hub.
  • You are shopping for lighting control rather than fan-speed control.

For independent fan curves, check whether your motherboard has enough separately controllable headers and whether its software supports the curves you need, or choose a controller that explicitly offers per-channel control. ARCTIC’s published material for this hub does not establish per-channel control.

Fan speed control is not RGB control

The Case Fan Hub manages PWM fan speed; it is not an RGB or ARGB lighting controller. ARCTIC’s A-RGB Controller is a separate SATA-powered lighting product. Its listed modes, colors, and remote apply to lighting effects, not fan speed. Confirm lighting connector and voltage compatibility before buying a lighting controller; do not treat the two products as interchangeable.
