The Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0 is a small, USB-powered evaporative cooler designed to direct a stream of cool, moist air toward someone nearby. It is not a substantiated replacement for room air conditioning: the available product information gives no independently verified room-coverage figure or measured room-temperature reduction. Its usefulness depends on the heat, humidity, settings, and whether you want personal airflow rather than whole-room cooling.
How the Pure Chill 2.0 cools
The unit uses evaporation rather than a compressor-based refrigeration system. Water from its tank moistens a sponge filter; air moving through that filter picks up moisture and is directed out through the vents. The manufacturer calls this Hydro-Chill technology and describes dual cooling jets. In plain terms, it adds moisture to the air stream, and the cooling effect varies with conditions rather than holding a set temperature.

The manufacturer says: “The degree of cooling depends on three factors: the outside air temperature, the air humidity, and the device settings you choose.” Evaporative cooling is generally more favorable in hotter, drier air; in humid conditions, evaporation is less effective. The manufacturer’s description is not an independent performance test, and the sources reviewed do not establish how many degrees this model lowers the temperature around a user or across a room.

These size and capacity figures describe a compact personal device. The manufacturer does not state a verified room-size rating, so they should not be read as evidence that it can cool a bedroom or other enclosed space.

Setup and day-to-day use
- Fill the tank: Add water as shown in the product guide. The 550 ml capacity is the manufacturer’s stated tank capacity.
- Connect USB power: Use the included cable with a computer USB port or a USB adapter rated at least 7.5 W, as recommended in the FAQ.
- Choose airflow and cooling: Select one of the three fan speeds and use the cooling control as desired. Aim the adjustable vent toward the space where you are sitting or working.
- Use Ice Boost if desired: The FAQ says to fill the Ice Boost with water, freeze it, then fit it to its holder. It is intended to provide extra-cold air; the sources do not quantify how much additional cooling it provides.
- Manage the light: Choose an LED color or turn the light off using the light controls.
Because this is a directional personal cooler, placement matters: aim it toward the person who needs airflow and keep a suitable USB power source within reach. It is not a ducted or whole-room system.
How long does one fill last?
The official FAQ says the Pure Chill 2.0 can last “up to 10 hours on a single fill,” while noting that runtime varies with fan setting, room temperature, and humidity. A version of the manual indexed by ManualsLib gives different estimates by speed: up to 8 hours on High, 10 on Medium, and 12 on Low. These are source-specific estimates, not guaranteed runtimes or independent measurements.

Expect to refill sooner when using a higher fan setting or when conditions increase water use; the available sources do not promise a fixed runtime in a particular room.
Filter care and storage
The sponge True Shield Filter is a consumable. The manufacturer recommends replacing it every 1–3 months depending on use, and says the unit has no replacement indicator. That makes periodic visual checks and tracking the replacement interval useful, especially with frequent operation. Confirm that a replacement cartridge is specifically compatible with the Pure Chill 2.0 before buying; current availability and authenticity are not established here.

An older manufacturer page for the predecessor called Pure Chill advertises cooling “by up to 20°F.” That statement is about the predecessor, not explicitly the Pure Chill 2.0, and it is not a verified or guaranteed result for this model. It should not be used as a prediction of how much the 2.0 will cool a room or an individual user.
