Prithika Pradeep received her Class 12 result—93%—the day before the Asian Games trials. She was pleased, but her attention was already on qualifying. She finished third in the women’s compound trials, earned a place at the Games and went on to win team gold for India with Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Chikitha Taniparthi. Their performance equalled the world record, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
What Prithika Pradeep achieved at the Asian Games
Pradeep’s route from school archery to an Asian Games medal was built over years, not in the few days around her exam result. In May 2026, she placed third in the women’s compound section of the trials, securing a spot on the team. On September 30, 2026, she and teammates Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Chikitha Taniparthi won the women’s compound team gold. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the victory and said the team’s performance equalled the world record; its statement did not give a score.

Before the Games, Pradeep told Hindustan Times, “It was my goal for this year to play at the Asian Games.” The result mattered in the context of her longer development: the same report says she began competing internationally in 2024. The Statesman reported that, earlier in the 2026 season, she earned her first senior World Cup medals in Madrid—individual bronze and team silver.

Hindustan Times reported that Pradeep scored 96% in Class 10 and 93% in Class 12. During her school years, her routine could stretch to 14 hours, combining school in the morning, afternoon classes and evening archery training. The Class 12 result arrived one day before trials; she said she was happy with her marks but focused on the competition ahead. “I knew I had worked hard for both,” she said.

That balance was supported by the people and routines around her. Pradeep’s family moved from Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, to Pune, where Hindustan Times reported they had lived for 15 years by October 2026. The report says her parents stayed in Pune so she could continue in a familiar training setup with coach Kunal Taware. Pradeep described her own motivation simply: “If I like something, I do it happily,” and “I love both archery and studies.”
From a school hobby to an international sport
Pradeep’s interest began with a school prompt to choose a hobby. Her mother explained archery as a game of “bow and arrow,” and she became curious. Hindustan Times reports that she joined coach Kunal Taware’s academy at age 10. What began as an activity grew into a sustained commitment, supported by a coach who saw her progress over time. Taware told the publication, “I didn’t expect that she would get there so fast.”

How she worked on her strength
Hindustan Times reported that in 2023 Pradeep noticed she felt weak near the end of competitions. She took a pause from competing and added gym sessions and more protein-rich food to her routine. This is an account of her individual preparation as reported by the newspaper, not a general training or nutrition prescription. Her coach also noted that an individual World Cup medal could build confidence, saying, “Winning that individual World Cup medal will give her a lot of belief.”
What is known about her studies after school
A pre-Games profile by The Statesman reported that Pradeep had started the first year of a BA in Economics in Pune. It did not name her institution. The same profile listed her as world No. 20 in women’s compound at the time it was published in 2026; that is a dated ranking, not a current one.
