In ARC Raiders, the Outpost is unlocked through a project rather than by buying a pre-existing upgrade. What the Outpost upgrade system does
The Outpost arrived with the Frozen Trail 2.0 update on October 8, 2026. It is a personal space that grows through a project and later modular expansion. The progression has two distinct stages:

Requirements to unlock the Outpost
1. Start the Outpost project
The official update identifies a project as the gateway to the Outpost. Its first step is titled “Research Topside Living Conditions.” The stated objective is to photograph a farmland house. The requirement is therefore an in-game photography task, not ownership of a physical camera or a special real-world item.

2. Obtain the Camera
The Camera is a quest item with three acquisition routes. Choose whichever route fits your current inventory and access to vendors or crafting:
- Buy it from Shani. Check Shani’s available inventory and acquire the Camera if it is offered to your character.
- Craft it at the Workbench. Use the Workbench crafting interface and select the Camera recipe when it is available.
- Find it Topside. The update also allows the Camera to be discovered during Topside runs.
The update confirms these routes but does not state a purchase price, crafting recipe, required components, spawn location, or drop rate. If one route is unavailable in your session, that does not establish that the item is locked; the other two routes remain part of the published acquisition guidance.
3. Photograph a farmland house
With the Camera in your inventory, complete the “Research Topside Living Conditions” objective by taking the required photograph of a farmland house. The official description does not specify a particular named building, map coordinate, distance, camera mode, or image-quality threshold. Follow the project’s on-screen objective marker and confirmation text rather than assuming that every rural structure qualifies.
After the photograph is accepted and the project is completed, the Outpost becomes available. The published material does not describe an additional level requirement, extraction condition, character statistic, or separate unlock token.

What becomes available after the project
Research-station access
Unlocking the Outpost also unlocks access to the research station. That is a functional benefit of completing the project, separate from decorative rewards. The update does not list every research action, research cost, queue limit, or time requirement, so the research station should not be treated as a documented source of specific combat bonuses or resource multipliers.
Modular expansion
The official wording is that the “Outpost can be expanded with different modules.” This establishes a modular system, meaning the space is intended to grow through discrete additions rather than a single one-time upgrade. It does not establish how many modules exist, whether they are selected in a fixed order, or whether players can rearrange them freely.
Do not infer that every module has a unique gameplay function. The update does not identify modules as storage, crafting, defense, display, research, or any other category. A module may eventually have a practical effect, a cosmetic effect, or both, but assigning a purpose without an official description would be speculation.

- Locate the Outpost project in your project or progression interface. Confirm that “Research Topside Living Conditions” is the active first step.
- Secure a Camera through one of the three confirmed routes. Visit Shani, check the Workbench, or search for one Topside.
- Enter a Topside run with the Camera available. Keep the item in the inventory or equipment location required by the game’s objective tracking.
- Find a farmland house and take the requested photograph. Wait for the objective to register before leaving the area.
- Complete the Outpost project. Verify that the project is marked complete and that the Outpost and research-station access are now available.
- Open the Outpost expansion interface. Review the modules shown for your account and read each in-game requirement exactly as displayed.
- Record costs before committing resources. Because the public update does not list prices or materials, the in-game panel is the authoritative source for your current build.
- Install or improve a module only after checking the reward preview. Look for any furniture-design, space, or function change shown by the interface, and do not assume an unlisted effect.
If the project does not advance after the photograph, first confirm that the picture was taken of the intended farmland-house objective and that the Camera was acquired through a valid route. If the Outpost is unlocked but an expansion option is missing, capture the exact in-game requirement and check whether the module is gated behind another project step; the update does not publish a universal unlock order.

Use the in-game requirement panel as the source of truth
Public patch notes establish the feature’s existence, but your Outpost screen should show the live requirements for the module currently selected. Read the required materials, currency, prerequisite projects, and any previewed reward before confirming. This avoids relying on stale community lists if a Live Update changes values.
Separate utility from decoration
The only universally documented upgrade reward is access to 22 Furniture Designs across the Outpost-upgrade category. A design unlock does not, by itself, prove that the furniture changes health, storage, crafting speed, research speed, or another character statistic. If a module displays a gameplay effect in your client, use that text; otherwise treat its known value as expansion and customization.
Keep a resource buffer
Since no official material list or tier schedule is available, avoid spending every potentially relevant component immediately after unlocking the Outpost. A reserve lets you respond to the first module requirement you actually see without forcing an unnecessary Topside run or dismantling another project.
Known Outpost problems and workarounds
Frozen Trail 2.0 lists several Outpost issues. These are presentation and interaction problems, not evidence that an upgrade failed:
- Furniture clipping: placed furniture can pass through parts of the structure. If an item appears embedded, move or remove it and place it again with more clearance.
- Unselectable slots: a furniture item can block a slot, preventing selection. Clear the obstructing item before attempting to edit that slot.
- Obstructed camera views: furniture or the character model can block the camera from some angles. Change your viewing angle or temporarily reposition the object while building.
- Corrupted lighting: the main building can display corrupted lighting when Shadow quality is set to Low. Raising Shadow quality is the documented setting-level workaround to test first.
The update says most of these fixes were in development for a future Live Update, but it does not give a date for those fixes in the Outpost section. If a visual problem persists after changing placement or graphics settings, record whether it affects one item, one slot, or the whole building before reporting it; that distinction helps separate a blocked interaction from a rendering issue.
What to watch for in future patch notes
Future official notes will be most useful if they add the missing operational details: module names, tier requirements, costs, prerequisites, and the exact furniture designs attached to each level. They may also clarify whether the 22 upgrade-unlocked designs are distributed evenly, whether modules provide non-cosmetic functions, and whether placement bugs have been fully resolved. Until those details are published, the reliable progression is the project, the farmland-house photograph, the Camera acquisition options, research-station access, and modular Outpost expansion.
