ARC Raiders is a third-person PvEvP extraction adventure. You deploy to a dangerous surface, search buildings and wreckage for useful loot, deal with hostile ARC machines and rival Raiders, then try to leave through an extraction point alive. You do not choose from a fixed hero-class roster: your role is shaped by weapons, gadgets, augments, skills and the way your squad divides responsibilities. For a first raid, use a free loadout, keep your weight low, place valuable items in the Safe Pocket, and extract with a modest haul before trying to stay longer.

What ARC Raiders asks you to do

Each deployment has three competing objectives: obtain materials, stay alive and get out. Loot can become crafting resources, quest items, blueprints, ammunition or equipment for a later run. Death normally removes the gear and loot you were carrying in the raid. Items stored in the Safe Pocket follow the current guide’s protection rules and can survive a failed deployment, which makes that small space strategically important.

The game’s tension comes from PvEvP pressure. ARC machines create patrols, alarms and reinforcements, while other human Raiders may hear a fight, follow your route or contest an extraction. You are not required to defeat every threat. A successful beginner run is often the quietest one: avoid a bad engagement, collect enough useful material and leave while you still have healing, ammunition and stamina.

Does ARC Raiders have classes?

Not in the traditional locked-character sense. The official description presents freedom to shape a Raider’s identity and playstyle rather than a roster of permanent classes. Your equipment, gadgets, augments and skill choices determine what you can contribute. Community guides commonly describe three practical squad roles, but these are communication shortcuts, not selectable class screens.

Practical role Typical responsibility Useful approach for beginners
Recon Gather information, mark threats and work from useful sight lines. Move ahead only when the team can support you; report machine routes, player movement and safe approaches before taking a shot.
Assault Apply frontline damage and pressure when a fight cannot be avoided. Carry a dependable primary and a close-range backup, but do not turn every sighting into a battle.
Support Provide healing, utility, revival help and resupply. Protect medical supplies and utility for the extraction phase instead of spending everything on an optional early fight.

A squad can change roles between raids or even during a deployment. A player carrying a marksman weapon can still revive a teammate; a support-oriented build may need to fight at close range. Treat the labels as a way to coordinate decisions, not as limits on who can use a weapon or gadget.

Which skills should a new Raider choose?

The current beginner guidance favors a foundation in Conditioning, followed by stamina-oriented Mobility improvements and then selected Survival options. The order reflects extraction priorities: you need to move, recover from mistakes and reach an exit before you optimize a specialized combat style.

Start with Conditioning

Solid Foundation is the recommended opening choice. Begin here rather than scattering early points across unrelated bonuses. A reliable baseline makes the first deployments more forgiving while you learn enemy sounds, map routes and inventory decisions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Add stamina through Mobility

Young Lungs and Marathon Runner are examples of stamina-focused Mobility nodes recommended for beginners. Stamina affects more than a chase: it determines whether you can cross exposed ground, break line of sight, reach a closing extraction and still have movement available when another threat appears. Sprinting everywhere spends that resource and creates sound, so a stamina build works best when paired with deliberate walking and crouch movement.

Pick a Survival option for your team

After the basic movement improvements, consider Survival choices such as Field Medic or Stamina Reserve. Field Medic suits a player who often revives or stabilizes teammates; Stamina Reserve favors anyone who wants an emergency buffer for the final approach to an exit. These recommendations are a starting path, not a mandatory meta build, and skill effects can change with live-service patches.

What gear should you use in your first raids?

Use a free loadout for the first several deployments whenever one is available. The current guide describes a free kit as including healing, a shield and at least one usable weapon, so losing it does not consume equipment you spent resources to assemble. This lets you learn recoil, sound cues, extraction locations and inventory management at a lower financial risk.

Loadout choice Risk if you die When it makes sense What to watch
Free loadout No personal kit cost for the supplied equipment. Your first deployments, unfamiliar maps or practice with a weapon. Confirm what the kit contains and add only the ammunition or utility you genuinely need.
Inexpensive personal kit You lose the equipment and carried loot on death. When you know your preferred weapon and can replace it comfortably. Keep the weapon simple, leave room for salvage and avoid expensive ammunition for low-value fights.
Heavy or specialized kit Highest replacement and opportunity cost. Planned objectives, coordinated squads or a situation that truly requires the capability. Weight, stamina use, noise and the temptation to take unnecessary risks because the kit feels valuable.

When assembling your own kit, use one dependable primary weapon, a close-range backup, healing, a shield and ammunition that matches the weapons. Keep total weight low enough that movement and stamina remain useful. Carrying every possible item can make you slower, louder or less able to escape, while carrying too little leaves you unable to finish a fight you chose to start.

Choosing a starter weapon

The Field Terminal beginner guide recommends the Ferro as a forgiving, inexpensive starter rifle. That is a guide recommendation, not an official balance statement. Its value for a new player is replaceability: a weapon you can afford to lose encourages practice without making each death feel like a major economic setback. Pick a gun whose recoil and effective range you can control, then spend your early runs learning positioning rather than chasing a perfect build.

Utility to understand first

Community examples include Trauma Foam for revival, Arc Flare for blinding or tagging, Signal Booster for a faster extraction arrival and an EMP for disrupting ARC reinforcements during an extraction countdown. Effects and values can be adjusted in balance patches, so check the in-game descriptions after an update. Utility is strongest when it protects a clear plan: save revival help for a teammate, use a flare to create information or a moment to reposition, and hold an EMP when the extraction fight is likely to attract machines.

How the Safe Pocket changes your decisions

The Safe Pocket is for items you cannot afford to lose. The current guide specifically calls out keys, blueprints and expensive ammunition as candidates when space allows. Put those items away before exposing yourself to another building, machine encounter or extraction attempt. The pocket has limited capacity, so do not fill it with low-value scrap that could have been replaced easily.

Think of the Safe Pocket as a risk-control tool rather than a second general inventory. A key may unlock a future route, a blueprint can advance your progression and costly ammunition can preserve the ability to assemble a useful kit after a death. Ordinary materials belong in the normal inventory until you know their crafting or quest value. If the pocket is full, decide which single item has the greatest long-term value before continuing.

How extraction works

A raid succeeds when you reach an active extraction point and leave alive with the loot. Extraction is not complete because you are standing near the marker: you must enter the departing vehicle or the Raider Hatch and remain there through the departure. Leaving the immediate area at the last moment, running out of stamina or being downed during the countdown can turn a successful haul into a loss.

Exit type Noise and visibility Access requirement Beginner decision
Elevator Loud; its activity can announce a departure to nearby players. Use an active elevator extraction point. Call it early, watch likely approaches and be ready for both Raiders and ARC pressure.
Metro station Also loud and likely to reveal that someone is leaving. Use the station’s active extraction process. Arrive with enough time to clear a position and keep stamina for the final movement.
Raider Hatch Quieter than the loud exits. Requires a hatch key. Reserve a key for a high-value or especially risky haul, and confirm the hatch location before the raid becomes urgent.

Call the exit before you need it

Mark an extraction point early enough to study the route and the approaches. Waiting until your inventory is full, your armor is damaged or a teammate is down removes the time needed to choose a safer path. The objective is not to announce yourself as soon as you land; it is to avoid making the final decision under pressure.

Prepare the landing zone

Extraction is a team operation. Assign one player to watch the most likely approach, keep another ready to cover the vehicle or hatch and avoid standing in a single obvious cluster. If ARC reinforcements arrive during the countdown, an EMP can disrupt them according to the community guide. Do not spend every defensive resource earlier if the exit is still ahead.

Enter and leave

Move inside the extraction vehicle or hatch rather than lingering beside it. Keep enough stamina for the last sprint, and drop low-value scrap if its weight threatens your ability to reach the exit. A smaller haul that arrives in Speranza is worth more than a full inventory left on the surface.

Your first deployment, step by step

  1. Finish the tutorial. Use the starter weapons until you understand aiming, reloading, healing, shielding, looting and the basic extraction interaction.
  2. Choose a low-risk kit. Start with a free loadout. If none is available, assemble the least expensive replacement kit that still has a primary weapon, a close-range option, healing, a shield and matching ammunition.
  3. Select a quiet landing area. Avoid the busiest-looking route while learning. Your first goal is a controlled sample of loot and sound cues, not a contested hot drop.
  4. Move deliberately. Walk when you can, sprint only for a reason and listen before opening a door or crossing exposed ground. Sprinting consumes stamina and creates sound that can attract both machines and players.
  5. Loot one building or block at a time. Check containers methodically, keep inventory capacity open and avoid filling slots with items you cannot explain the value of.
  6. Use cover to identify threats. Observe ARC patrols and rival Raider movement before firing. A fight is worthwhile only when it protects your route, a quest objective or a clearly valuable opportunity.
  7. Secure important items. Move keys, blueprints and expensive ammunition into the Safe Pocket when possible. Do this before taking another optional detour.
  8. Mark an extraction point early. Decide whether a loud elevator or metro station is acceptable, or whether a Raider Hatch key justifies the quieter route.
  9. Reposition before calling. Approach from cover, check sight lines and keep stamina, healing and at least one defensive option for the countdown.
  10. Extract as soon as the haul is good enough. Enter the vehicle or hatch and leave. Do not add a low-value building simply because the raid has gone well.

How to fight ARC machines without wasting a raid

Machines are not just targets; they are sources of noise, damage and potential third-party attention. Before shooting, ask whether the machine blocks your route or protects loot valuable enough to justify the ammunition and exposure. If it does not, move around it, wait for a patrol gap or choose another building.

When combat is necessary, use cover and a retreat route rather than fighting in the open. Keep track of remaining ammunition and healing, because winning an exchange can still leave you unable to survive the trip to extraction. A support player should preserve revival and healing tools for the moment a teammate is down, while an assault player should avoid chasing a damaged machine away from the team’s planned route.

An EMP is especially valuable when ARC reinforcements threaten an extraction countdown, according to the community guidance. That does not mean using it automatically: hold it if the exit is quiet, and spend it when disruption protects the team’s departure.

How to handle rival Raiders

Human opponents can hear gunfire, infer where loot is concentrated and use a loud extraction as a signal. Avoiding a fight is often the strongest PvEvP decision. Break line of sight, change floors or routes, and let another group pass if the encounter does not improve your chance of extracting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If combat is unavoidable, fight from a position that also serves your escape. Keep the squad close enough to trade support but not so tightly grouped that one attack affects everyone. Recon-style information, assault pressure and support utility work together only when the team communicates what it sees and when it intends to leave.

Do not pursue a fleeing Raider beyond the value of the objective. Chasing can pull you away from cover, consume stamina and expose the squad to a second opponent or an ARC patrol. The extraction plan remains the priority even after you win an engagement.

Inventory, crafting and progression in Speranza

Back in Speranza, sort the run before starting another. Sell or recycle duplicates, retain crafting staples and check whether a quest requires an item before discarding it. This is also where you turn a successful modest haul into a stronger next deployment.

Advance trader quests

Keep trader quests moving rather than hoarding every item without a purpose. A quest objective can justify a route or a risk that ordinary scrap would not. If an objective sends you toward a contested area, take the least expensive kit that can complete it and decide in advance what will make you abandon the attempt.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Upgrade one workbench at a time

The current guide recommends beginning with the Gunsmith or Utility Station. Concentrating resources on one bench gives you a usable improvement sooner than spreading materials across every station. Choose the bench that supports the role you are actually playing, then reassess after you have enough stock to replace a lost kit.

Common beginner mistakes and fixes

  • Taking a premium kit too early: Return to free or inexpensive equipment until you can explain why the extra capability is needed.
  • Filling every inventory slot: Leave room for valuable salvage and discard low-value items when weight or capacity threatens your exit.
  • Sprinting constantly: Walk between points, preserve stamina for danger and remember that sound can reveal your route.
  • Starting fights without an exit plan: Identify cover, retreat direction and ammunition needs before firing.
  • Calling extraction at the last second: Mark an exit while the team is healthy enough to observe approaches and reposition.
  • Standing beside the vehicle or hatch: Step inside and stay through departure; proximity alone does not complete extraction.
  • Spending utility before the final approach: Keep revival, disruption and defensive tools for the moment they protect the extraction.
  • Ignoring the Safe Pocket: Secure keys, blueprints and expensive ammunition when possible instead of carrying all value in the vulnerable inventory.
  • Upgrading everything at once: Focus on the Gunsmith or Utility Station first, then expand when your materials and quests support it.
  • Trying to clear the map: Leave once the haul meets your objective. More time increases exposure to machines, rival Raiders and a bad extraction fight.

When should you choose a free loadout, loud exit or hatch?

Use this decision framework when you are unsure:

Situation Best beginner choice Reason
You are learning a weapon or map. Free loadout and a conservative route. The kit is replaceable and the objective is practice.
You have ordinary scrap but no quest-critical item. Use the nearest viable loud exit once the route is observed. A quiet hatch key is more valuable when the haul justifies it.
You carry a blueprint, key or expensive ammunition. Secure it in the Safe Pocket and favor the safer available extraction. Protecting irreplaceable progression matters more than one extra container.
Your team is injured or low on stamina. Stop looting and extract immediately. The remaining inventory is not worth a low-probability final fight.
ARC reinforcements arrive during the countdown. Use coordinated cover and consider an EMP. Disruption can protect the departure while teammates watch rival approaches.

Current live-service details to check

ARC Raiders is updated over time, so item effects, balance and map conditions can change. The official homepage currently features the Frozen Trail update and displays current map conditions. It also lists a PvE matchmaking toggle beta running October 13–20, 2026; those dates describe that specific beta window and should not be treated as a permanent mode promise.

The Field Terminal beginner guide identifies its data version as FT-2.0 and its update date as October 12, 2026. Use the in-game item descriptions and current patch notes when they disagree with an older guide, especially for gadget effects, extraction behavior or skill values. No authoritative beginner-success rate, economy statistic or player-count figure is established here, so decisions should be based on the mechanics and risk principles above rather than an invented benchmark.

A compact checklist before every raid

  • Is the kit free or inexpensive enough that losing it will not disrupt your next run?
  • Do your weapon, backup, ammunition, healing and shield match the route and objective?
  • Is the total weight low enough to preserve movement and stamina?
  • Are keys, blueprints and expensive ammunition in the Safe Pocket where possible?
  • Do you know at least one extraction point and the route to it?
  • Have you saved enough stamina, healing and utility for the final approach?
  • Will you leave if the haul is good rather than adding an unnecessary detour?

The reliable beginner loop is simple: deploy cheaply, move quietly, take only fights that serve a purpose, protect irreplaceable items and extract before greed changes a winning run into a death. Once that loop feels routine, specialize your skill branches, experiment with role combinations and bring more ambitious kits to objectives that justify their risk.
