Trilio Site Recovery is a disaster recovery product for virtual machines running on Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and KubeVirt. It provides continuous replication across storage types, with synchronous block-level replication designed for near-zero recovery point objectives and asynchronous replication also available. When recovery is needed, automated failover can start virtual machines in a chosen order, reassign networks, and switch DNS. Teams can run isolated recovery tests from replicated snapshots without disrupting production and produce compliance reports. Replication policies can be defined as Kubernetes custom resources and maintained as Git-managed manifests. ArgoCD, Flux, and ACM compatibility supports GitOps workflows. The product uses an OpenShift-native, operator-based architecture with CRDs and a centralized control plane for multiple clusters; it does not use a VM agent. Hooks before and after failover can quiesce databases, flush writes, and notify dependent services. Listed capabilities also include dependency mapping, persistent volume and cluster resource backup, application-consistent backup, instant VM recovery, immutable backup storage, cloud backup targets, and off-site replication. Trilio announced Technology Preview availability through its Early Adopter Program, with support for Red Hat OpenShift 4.20 and later.

Who it is for

Trilio Site Recovery suits teams protecting KubeVirt or OpenShift Virtualization virtual machines that need continuous replication and orchestrated recovery. Its Kubernetes custom resources, Git-managed policies, and listed GitOps compatibility may fit teams managing recovery through OpenShift workflows.

What is good
