StorageScope

What StorageScope is
StorageScope is a free macOS app for understanding disk usage and planning cleanup. It scans folders locally after you grant access through macOS folder selection or security-scoped bookmarks, and it can include external drives. Results rank large folders and files, old large files, file types, caches, build artifacts, installers, archives, disk images and temporary-looking files. The app also identifies duplicate candidates by grouping same-size files and verifying matches with SHA-256, either within a bounded work budget or on demand. Cleanup is review-first: verified duplicates are separated from other suggestions, and confirmed batches move to macOS Trash. If a later move fails, rollback is attempted. StorageScope says scan results, file names, paths, contents, hashes, analytics and identifiers are not uploaded. It is sandboxed and built with SwiftUI and AppKit. macOS 14 or later is required. The current DMG is for Apple Silicon, is ad hoc signed and is not notarized by Apple; Intel has not been validated.
