What Songcraft is
Songcraft is a browser-based songwriting platform and tab builder that keeps lyrics, chords, and tabs together. Writers can work in real time with as many cowriters as they want, while automatic saving keeps work current. Chord tools recognize and play chords and show fingerings for string instruments. The lyric editor gives syllable counts by line and includes dictionaries for rhymes, synonyms, and related words. Songcraft can identify a song’s key, suggest chords and progressions, and provide thousands of progressions to explore. Writers can upload recordings, add external demos, or record clips in the service; its Library can attach demos from a computer, SoundCloud, Spotify, or YouTube. Songcraft runs on any device in a browser without an app download. The Basic plan is free and allows up to five songs and one weekly exercise. Pro costs $5 a month, billed monthly, and includes unlimited songs and 15 interactive exercises. A free trial is available. Users retain ownership of their songs, recordings, and comments, and Songcraft says it will not sell their content without consent.
