Instead of SimpleCov
SimpleCov alternatives
SimpleCov gives Ruby teams line, branch, method, oneshot-line, and eval coverage through Ruby’s built-in Coverage library. It can merge results across test suites, produce HTML and JSON reports, and set thresholds or gates for overall and changed-line coverage. Optional tracking connects lines to RSpec or Minitest tests, and oneshot coverage can record production usage. Its Rails profile can include ERB, Haml, and Slim templates. It is free and MIT-licensed, but must start before application code is required to track those files; JRuby supports line coverage only.

A different language is the clearest reason to look elsewhere: SimpleCov is for Ruby, while these alternatives cover Java, Groovy, AspectJ, C, C++, Rust, Python, .NET, or provide a coverage dashboard. Switching also changes the workflow and available reports. Compare the languages and metrics you need, how reports reach your CI or editor, whether you need test-level details or merge gates, and whether a free or paid option fits. Some alternatives add dashboards, broader report formats, or specialized test support; others focus on another ecosystem entirely.
