Sa11y

What Sa11y is
Sa11y is a free, open-source collection of automated accessibility testing libraries and tools based on axe-core. It is designed for workflows from unit tests through integration tests and lists WCAG 2.1 coverage, automated scans, and CI/CD integration. The core assertAccessible API checks a DOM or HTML element and reports violations and incomplete results. Jest and Vitest packages provide a toBeAccessible() matcher, automatic checking options, and custom result processing. WebdriverIO packages provide assertAccessible() and assertAccessibleSync() for pages rendered in browsers. Base, Extended, and Full axe rule presets are available, with Base used by default in the main matchers and assertion APIs. Custom rules, integrations, and DOM mutation observation are supported. A minified bundle can be injected into WebDriver workflows using Selenium Java or WebdriverIO patterns. The libraries are distributed as npm packages under the BSD-3-Clause license. Sa11y is available through API, self-hosted, and web-oriented workflows, and can test interfaces supported by axe-core.
