PulseLens is a free, MIT-licensed open-source workbench for social listening and public-opinion early warning. It monitors mentions of people, brands, projects, or organizations, classifies sentiment, estimates reputational risk, and suggests response strategies. The current version imports user-provided CSV files and public RSS feeds. Its multilingual baseline uses English and Chinese lexicons for favorable, harmful, and urgent signals. Risk scoring combines sentiment, reach, urgency, source weight, and keyword matches, then assigns crisis levels from L0 to L5. PulseLens classifies likely product, service, legal, security, privacy, or reputation concerns and groups related mentions into topic clusters. Suggested responses include amplify, clarify, neutral-watch, de-escalate, and crisis-response. A local web dashboard shows mentions, trends, alerts, entity-level risk, and a prioritized triage queue. JSON, CSV, and Markdown weekly-report outputs are available. The SQLite database is stored on the user's machine. PulseLens runs as self-hosted, web, or Windows software and is classified as Alpha.

Who it is for

PulseLens suits maintainers, researchers, small teams, and individual creators who need local monitoring of imported public-opinion data. It is useful for users comfortable with an Alpha-stage open-source project.

What is good

  • Free and MIT licensed
  • English and Chinese sentiment lexicons
  • L0-to-L5 crisis levels
  • Local SQLite storage
  • Dashboard plus JSON, CSV, and Markdown outputs

What to know first

  • Current imports are CSV files and public RSS feeds
  • Project status is Alpha
  • Planned connectors are not current integrations
  • Does not automate public replies

Verdict

PulseLens provides local, structured triage for imported mentions, with sentiment, risk scoring, and report exports. Its Alpha maturity and limited current data sources are important constraints.
