LadybugDB alternatives
LadybugDB is a free, MIT-licensed embedded columnar graph database for analytical workloads and agentic applications. It uses Cypher with a structured property graph model, and combines columnar disk storage with vectorized and factorized processing, parallel queries, and ACID transactions. Graph algorithms, vector similarity search, broad language APIs, bulk imports, a browser interface, and an MCP server support different ways to work with graph data and agents.

Its embedded deployment model has limits worth weighing: concurrent access allows one read-write database object or multiple read-only objects, while multiple writing processes should use an API server pattern. In-memory data is lost when the process ends. Alternatives may suit projects that need distributed deployment, streaming data, semantic graphs and reasoning, or different query languages. Compare those capabilities with each product’s transaction support, integrations, licensing, price, and supported platforms. The right choice depends on how the database will be deployed and which graph model and workload matter most.
