Instead of AFL++
AFL++ alternatives
AFL++ is a free, coverage-guided fuzzer for finding new execution paths by mutating program inputs. Its compiler wrapper supports LTO, LLVM, and GCC_PLUGIN instrumentation, and its features include collision-free coverage, AFLfast++ power schedules, MOpt mutators, laf-intel, and redqueen. It covers source-available programs, binary-only targets, network services, and GUI programs, with local execution and CI/CD support. Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and self-hosted platforms are listed.

A switch may make sense if your goal is not fuzzing: AFL++ is a specialized testing tool, and its fuzzing can consume substantial memory or disk and generate heavy filesystem I/O. macOS builds also have documented limits: afl-clang-lto, afl-gcc-fast, and qemu_mode do not work there. The AGPL license includes a source-offer obligation for modified versions provided as network services; a commercial license is priced at 20,000 EUR per year. Consider whether you need mutation-based coverage guidance and crash triage, or instead want software for another task, and weigh platform fit, license terms, and resource demands before choosing.
