The mix puts the SpaceX angle in context: launch demand is relevant, but less than a quarter of this quarter’s revenue came from the Space and Launch Systems segment. The company’s exposure to warfare-related shifts also runs through aviation, airborne systems, C5ISR and precision strike—not just rockets.

What the latest results say about the company
In its earnings release published August 12, 2026, Applied reported second-quarter revenue of $167.3 million, up 47.4% year over year, and adjusted EBITDA of $36.4 million, up 38.5%. Contract backlog exceeded $1.1 billion. The company also reported a net loss of $154.0 million, which it said was primarily due to share-based compensation and transaction expenses associated with its June 2026 IPO. These measures tell different parts of the story. Revenue and adjusted EBITDA indicate operating scale and performance under the company’s adjusted measure; backlog indicates contracted work, not revenue already earned or a guarantee of future results. The reported net loss is a separate bottom-line figure, and the company attributed its size primarily to IPO-related compensation and transaction costs.

Applied’s markets place it near changes in launch activity and defense priorities, but they do not make its results immune to shifts in customer demand. For readers assessing the business, the useful distinction is between exposure and certainty: a supplier can participate in sectors experiencing strategic change without capturing every associated budget increase or launch opportunity. Government priorities, customer programs and the relative contribution of each end market all matter to results.
