Apple may unveil a new smart-home hub running software reportedly called homeOS on October 13, 2026, alongside a refreshed Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini. The date and products come from current reporting—not an Apple announcement—so the hub’s final name, specifications, price and availability remain unconfirmed.
The reported hub, often called HomePad, would combine a touchscreen, Siri-led controls and Apple apps. Here’s what’s expected, what Apple has actually announced about Siri AI, and how to decide whether to buy an Apple TV 4K now or wait.

What is Apple homeOS?
homeOS is the reported name for the operating system expected to power Apple’s rumored smart-home hub, commonly referred to as HomePad. Apple has not confirmed either the name or the device. In a 2026 report, 9to5Mac attributed this description of the idea to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman: “The new operating system is basically, what would an OS look like if Siri AI had an OS? If Siri AI was not just an app on the phone, if it wasn’t just an interface on the phone. What if it was an operating system?”

The reported interface would borrow elements from several Apple platforms: iPhone-style widgets, iPad-like app designs and Apple Watch-style icons.

What might the HomePad screen and apps do?
A glanceable home screen with touch controls
According to 9to5Mac’s reporting, the default display could show photo slideshows or a clock. A swipe would open an app launcher, and touch input would complement Siri rather than leave voice as the only way to interact. The report also says third-party widgets from iPhone apps may be supported, but a dedicated App Store is not expected.
Reported built-in apps
The rumored built-in apps include Music, Podcasts, Photos, Weather, FaceTime, Notes, Calendar, Messages and Reminders. Apple has not confirmed this list, nor explained how these apps would work on a shared household screen—for example, how personal messages or reminders would be protected when several people use the device.
What has Apple announced about Siri AI?
Apple’s June 8, 2026 WWDC announcement describes Siri AI as a new version of Siri that can use personal context across messages, emails and photos, take actions in apps across the system, and answer questions using web knowledge. That is official platform-level information; it is not confirmation that a HomePad or homeOS exists, or that every announced capability will be available on a future hub.

Apple says Siri AI availability varies by language and region, and that features are subject to change. A buyer should therefore treat the rumored device’s Siri capabilities—and their availability in a particular country or language—as unsettled until Apple publishes product-specific details.
Which Apple smart-home products are reportedly coming?
MacRumors reports that Apple may unveil a smart-home hub, a new HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K on October 13, 2026. The specifications below are reported rumors, not confirmed Apple specifications.
| Product | Reported role and screen | Reported chip and connectivity | Other reported details |
|---|---|---|---|
| HomePad smart-home hub | Home hub with a reported 6-to-7-inch square display; tabletop and wall-mounted versions are reportedly planned. | An A18-or-newer chip is reported; connectivity details are not stated in the cited MacRumors report. | FaceTime capability, speaker and microphone hardware are reported. homeOS is the name reported by 9to5Mac. |
| Apple TV 4K | TV-connected streaming device; a screen size is not applicable. Streaming remains its reported role. | An A19 or A19 Pro chip, more memory for Apple Intelligence, and an N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 are reported. | An updated Siri Remote is reported. The report does not establish specific Siri AI features for the device. |
| HomePod mini 2 | Speaker-focused device; a display is not reported. | A newer chip, an N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7, and second-generation Ultra Wideband are reported. | Siri AI support, improved sound and new colors are reported, without confirmed specifications or a feature list. |
These product names and details are not Apple-confirmed. The cited reporting does not state compatibility details for HomeKit or Matter accessories for any of the three rumored products, so it is too early to treat a specific accessory-support claim as settled. A full-size HomePod is not expected as part of the October unveiling: 9to5Mac quoted Gurman as saying, “Apple aims to eventually update its larger HomePod speaker as well.”

Should you buy an Apple TV 4K now or wait?
The rumored October 13 announcement is close enough that waiting is the lower-risk choice if your current streaming setup works and you want to compare the new model’s confirmed price, features and availability. An announcement would not necessarily mean immediate shipping, and no release date or country list is confirmed in the cited reporting.

If you need a streaming device now, make the decision based on the Apple TV 4K model currently available to you, its verified price and whether it meets your needs—not on rumored A19, Wi-Fi 7 or Apple Intelligence features. If those potential upgrades matter to you, wait for Apple’s specifications before buying. The HomePad is a different kind of product: it is reportedly a screen-equipped home hub, not a replacement for a TV-connected streaming box.
