In 9to5Mac’s October 6, 2026 report, AirPods Max 2 were listed at $429, or $120 below the reported $549 regular price. AirPods Pro 3 were listed at $179, a $70 reduction from $249. Those are dated deal prices, not confirmation that either listing is still available at that price.
Which AirPods were on sale, and how much were they off?
The “up to $120 off” figure applied to AirPods Max 2—not AirPods Pro 3. The prices below are 9to5Mac’s October 6, 2026 snapshot; current price, stock, sellers and color availability are not established here.

At the time of its report, 9to5Mac said the Pro 3 price was within $10 of the lowest Amazon price it had tracked. It described the Max 2 price as $30 above its tracked Amazon low and said it applied to all five colorways. These are the publisher’s historical price comparisons, not a live price check. How did AirPods 5 compare with AirPods Pro 3?
The same report listed AirPods 5 at $129 for the entry configuration and $149 with a Wireless Charging Case. On that October 6 price snapshot, Pro 3 cost $30 more than AirPods 5 with the Wireless Charging Case. The report does not establish whether those prices remain available.

That $30 difference is a price comparison, not a verdict on value. The Pro 3 is an in-ear model with active noise cancellation and additional features Apple lists for health, hearing and durability; AirPods 5’s corresponding features are not detailed in the available deal report. Check the current listing and the specifications that matter to you before choosing.
What does AirPods Pro 3 offer?
Apple describes AirPods Pro 3 as in-ear wireless headphones. Its official product page lists active noise cancellation (ANC), heart-rate sensing for workouts, Hearing Aid capability, and IP57 dust, sweat and water resistance. Apple also rates listening time at up to eight hours on a single charge with ANC enabled. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independent test results.

Apple says Pro 3 removes up to twice as much unwanted noise as AirPods Pro 2. That is Apple’s comparison, not an independently verified measurement in the deal report.

How to choose between Pro 3 and Max 2
- Choose by fit and format: Pro 3 is in-ear; Max 2 is over-ear. The deal report does not provide a measured sound-quality or comfort comparison.
- Consider the features documented here: Apple lists ANC and the health, hearing and resistance features above for Pro 3. The report positions Max 2 as Apple’s premium over-ear option but does not substantiate specific Max 2 performance advantages.
