Historical offer: Apple’s October 2021 Series 7 preorder promotion gave eligible U.S. buyers a $100 carrier reward when they purchased a GPS + Cellular Apple Watch Series 7 directly from Apple and activated qualifying service with T-Mobile/Sprint or Verizon. The offer was a post-purchase rebate—not an instant discount—and its activation and claim deadlines have expired.
This guide preserves the original rules so you can identify whether an archived purchase qualified. It is not a current Apple promotion.
What the Apple Watch Series 7 promotion offered
Apple’s promotion, announced October 8, 2021, applied to a new Apple Watch Series 7 GPS + Cellular purchased from Apple’s online store or an Apple retail store in the United States. The documented carriers were T-Mobile/Sprint and Verizon. A GPS-only watch did not meet the product requirement.
The reward arrived only after cellular activation and a separate carrier claim. Apple charged the normal purchase price at checkout; the $100 was later delivered by the carrier in a specified reward format.

Because Sprint had become part of T-Mobile, the contemporary terms used the name “T-Mobile/Sprint.” The original announcement and terms are reported at 9to5Mac.
Eligibility at a glance

A “cellular Apple Watch” means the watch itself has cellular hardware. Having an iPhone plan, or pairing a GPS-only watch with an iPhone, did not turn that watch into an eligible cellular model.
T-Mobile/Sprint redemption rules
The historical T-Mobile/Sprint terms required all of the following:
- Order the new qualifying Apple Watch during the promotion period.
- Activate it within 90 days of ordering.
- Use a new Paired DIGITS plan.
- Submit the rebate application within 30 days after cellular activation.
- Enter promo code
2021APPLEWATCHRETAIL1. - Submit through the T-Mobile promotions site at promotions.t-mobile.com.
The stated reward was a $100 virtual prepaid Mastercard. The published estimate was approximately six to eight weeks after submitting the application; that was a processing estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date.

What “new” meant in practice
The terms specifically required a new Paired DIGITS plan. Moving an existing watch line, reusing an existing activation, or making another account change may not have met that definition. The available terms do not establish every exclusion for prepaid, business, or enterprise accounts, so those customers needed to verify eligibility with T-Mobile’s promotion administrator before relying on the reward.

Verizon redemption rules
Verizon’s historical requirements were different:
- Activate the watch within 30 days of receiving it.
- Activate it on a new consumer postpaid data plan.
- Submit the claim within 30 days after activating cellular service.
- File through the Verizon account portal or the My Verizon app at myverizon.com.
Verizon issued a $100 Verizon e-gift card, with delivery stated as up to approximately eight weeks after claim submission. This was not an Apple gift card, cash payment, or automatic Verizon bill credit.
The word new mattered: an existing Verizon customer was not automatically eligible merely because a watch was added to the account. The documented requirement was a new consumer postpaid data plan; business, prepaid, or other account arrangements required confirmation against the original terms.
Rebate versus instant discount
The promotion worked in four financial steps: pay Apple for the watch, activate qualifying service, submit the carrier claim, then wait for the reward. Anyone comparing the offer with a $100-off sale would have paid the full Apple checkout price first.
The real financial benefit also depended on the cellular plan’s ongoing cost. A useful calculation is:

Effective benefit = $100 reward − incremental cellular-service costs, taxes and fees incurred to qualify.
Plan pricing varied by carrier, account and date, so the 2021 promotion did not guarantee that every customer saved money overall.

- GPS-only Series 7: did not meet the GPS + Cellular product requirement.
- Third-party retailers: the documented offer covered Apple-direct purchases. It does not establish eligibility for Amazon, Best Buy, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint or another reseller.
- Existing or reused lines: both carrier versions required a new qualifying arrangement, with the exact carrier definition controlling.
- Late activation or claim: the published deadlines were 90 days after ordering for T-Mobile/Sprint, 30 days after receipt for Verizon, and 30 days after activation for either claim process.
- Imported cellular models: compatibility was not universal across countries or carriers.
These points should be treated as eligibility checks, not a promise that every unlisted account type was definitively excluded unless the original carrier terms said so.
Cellular model and regional compatibility
Apple states that cellular Apple Watch models are optimized for the country or region where they are sold and that no single model supports cellular service worldwide. Apple’s Series 7 regional reference is available at apple.com/by/watch/cellular.
Before buying an imported or gray-market Series 7, check the model number, supported bands and the carrier’s activation policy. A watch that is physically a GPS + Cellular model can still be incompatible with a particular network or region.

What to retain when filing a historical claim
- Apple order confirmation and order number.
- Proof that the watch was GPS + Cellular.
- Shipping or delivery date, especially for Verizon’s 30-day receipt window.
- Carrier activation date and plan details.
- Submitted application or portal confirmation.
- Promo code and any claim or tracking number.
- Copies of carrier emails and reward notices.
Keeping these records would have made it easier to resolve a missing or rejected claim.

The published terms did not promise grace periods. Check the model, Apple purchase channel, account type, activation date, claim date, promo code and confirmation number first. For a promotion dispute, the relevant escalation point was the carrier’s promotion administrator—not Apple product support—because the carrier issued and processed the reward.
A late claim could be rejected even if the watch itself was otherwise eligible. The October 2021 windows are now closed, so a new claim cannot be opened under this promotion.

The contemporary coverage also mentioned Apple Trade In as a separate way to reduce the purchase cost. Historical maximum values cited at the time were up to $155 for Apple Watch SE, $145 for Series 5, $100 for Series 4, $70 for Series 3 and $25 for Series 2. Those figures were time-sensitive and are not current valuations.
The cited promotion material does not establish whether Trade In could be combined with the carrier rebate in every case. Do not assume that stacking was allowed without the original terms confirming it. Current trade-in rules and estimates are at Apple Trade In.

What applies now
As of August 18, 2026, Apple no longer sells Series 7 as its current model; its store pages feature newer watches, including Series 11. Apple’s current buying page showed date-sensitive starting prices of $399 for GPS and $499 for GPS + Cellular when checked, so verify the live page before purchase: apple.com/shop/buy-watch/apple-watch.
Apple’s current carrier page lists participating U.S. networks including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, but present-day carrier support does not revive the 2021 rebate: apple.com/watch/cellular.
Current alternatives
- Current GPS model: generally better for someone who keeps an iPhone nearby and wants to avoid a recurring watch-line charge.
- Current cellular model: useful for calls, messages and data when leaving the iPhone behind, but compare the ongoing plan cost with the benefit.
- Used or refurbished Series 7 GPS + Cellular: check battery health, Activation Lock status, model-region compatibility, warranty and return terms.
- Carrier-direct offers: bill credits or bundles are separate promotions with their own financing, plan and retention conditions.

The Bottom Line
The $100 Apple Watch Series 7 cellular rebate was genuine but historical: only Apple-direct GPS + Cellular purchases activated on the specified new T-Mobile/Sprint or Verizon arrangements qualified, and all October 2021 deadlines have passed.
