For viewers in the United States, Apple’s current 2026 event listing labels the Bahrain Grand Prix “Watch Free on Apple TV.” That indicates the race may be available without a paid Apple TV subscription, but the label is event-specific and could change. Open the live event page before race time and confirm that the free watch option is still shown.
What “watch free” means for this race
Apple’s event listing is the strongest current indication that the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix itself can be watched free in the U.S. You may not need to start a subscription or enter a trial if the live page continues to show the “Watch Free on Apple TV” label.

This is not a promise that every Formula 1 race is free. Apple’s general U.S. policy says every practice is available without a subscription, along with a selected number of race weekends. Apple also says a subscription is required for full coverage of every Grand Prix, qualifying session, Sprint and practice. Promotional or event-specific access can therefore differ from the normal plan.
Check the listing immediately before the session
- Open Apple’s Formula 1 section or the Bahrain Grand Prix event page.
- Sign in with your Apple Account if Apple requests it.
- Look for the exact “Watch Free on Apple TV” label on the live race listing.
- If the label has disappeared, review the displayed subscription or trial terms before pressing play.
Who can use this free option?
The Apple arrangement described here is for the United States. Apple’s 2026 Formula 1 broadcast deal is U.S.-only, so the event listing should not be treated as proof of free access in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia or any other country. Outside the U.S., check the local rights holder or the F1 TV service available in your territory.

When and where is the 2026 event?
The official Formula 1 article dated September 30, 2026 describes the upcoming event as the “Bahrain Grand Prix” held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. That naming and venue combination is unusual, so rely on the Apple and Formula 1 event pages for the current session schedule. As of October 2, 2026, the race should be treated as upcoming rather than completed.
What you get with a paid Apple TV subscription
If the free listing is withdrawn, Apple’s subscription is the fallback for full U.S. coverage. Apple’s current listing displays “7 days free, then $14.99/month”; both the price and trial eligibility can change, so use the checkout screen as the final authority.

Supported devices
You do not need an Apple TV 4K box to use Apple’s service. Apple lists support for Android devices, smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles and tv.apple.com, as well as Apple devices. Apple TV 4K is optional, mainly useful if you want to watch on a television or use supported Multiview features.

On compatible hardware and software, Apple says Multiview can display up to four feeds at once on Apple TV 4K, iPad and Vision Pro. The service includes English and Spanish commentary, access to F1 TV and Sky Sports broadcasts, full replays, highlights, interviews and press conferences for subscribers.

- 4K High Dynamic Range (Dolby Vision and HDR10) for stunning picture quality
- Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound
- A10X Fusion chip for ultra-fast graphics and performance
- Voice search by asking the Siri Remote
F1 TV Premium is not a second free workaround
Apple and Formula 1 say F1 TV Premium is included at no additional cost for U.S. Apple TV subscribers. Its listed features include onboard cameras, pre- and post-race shows, 4K Ultra HD/HDR and Multiview, where available. This is a subscription benefit, not evidence that F1 TV Premium can be used as a separate free replacement for Apple’s event listing.
If the free label is gone
- Reopen the event page rather than relying on an old bookmark or search result.
- Check whether Apple now requires a subscription or is offering a trial.
- Read the displayed renewal price and cancellation terms before starting a trial.
- If you are outside the U.S., switch to the broadcaster or F1 TV option authorized for your country.
The Bottom Line
In the U.S., the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix is currently listed as “Watch Free on Apple TV,” so you may be able to watch the race without paying for an Apple TV subscription. Because that status is event-specific and changeable, verify the live listing immediately before the race; otherwise, Apple’s normal model requires a subscription for complete F1 coverage.
