My recommendation is to wait if your current Apple TV 4K still works well. Apple’s new fourth-generation Apple TV 4K arrives in India on November 13, 2026, with a reported price of ₹39,900. Its headline improvements—hands-free Siri, an A19 chip, a dedicated AV1 decoder and a Find My-enabled remote—are real reasons to upgrade, but Siri AI beta itself also works on Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onward. Unless you specifically need the new microphone system or remote features, the value case is not compelling yet.

Apple announced the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) on October 13. Pre-orders begin the same day, with availability starting November 13. Apple describes it as its most immersive home-theater experience yet, but that wording is a vendor claim rather than an independent test result.

Same-day Indian reporting puts the new model at ₹39,900. That figure has not yet appeared on the Apple India buying page reviewed for this article, so treat it as a reported India price until Apple publishes the official product listing and configurations.
What is new in the Apple TV 4K (2026)?
A19 performance
Apple says the A19 chip provides up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation. These are Apple’s comparison figures; no independent benchmark is established here. Faster graphics could matter for demanding games and a more responsive interface, but ordinary 4K streaming does not automatically require that extra performance.

Dedicated AV1 decoding
The fourth-generation box adds a dedicated AV1 decoder. Apple says this enables efficient, high-quality streaming while using less bandwidth. The practical benefit depends on whether the services you use deliver AV1 streams and how your network and television handle them.
Three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri
Three built-in far-field microphones allow Siri requests without picking up the remote. This is the clearest day-to-day hardware distinction from earlier Apple TV 4K models: you can address the box from across the room instead of reaching for the remote first.

Apple says Siri AI beta is available in English at launch in India and other named markets. Crucially, Apple lists Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) as supported. That means Siri AI eligibility alone does not justify replacing an otherwise functional older box.

A new Siri Remote with Find My
The updated Siri Remote supports Find My with Precision Finding and can play a sound to help locate it. Apple says the remote works with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K and is sold separately. Therefore, someone who mainly wants a locatable remote may be able to buy the accessory rather than replace the entire television box. India pricing for the standalone remote has not been established.

Why I am not upgrading from a recent Apple TV 4K
The third-generation model already covers core viewing features
Apple’s current India store page still lists the third-generation Apple TV 4K with an A15 Bionic chip, 4K output, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos and the USB-C Siri Remote. It shows two configurations:

The comparison is imperfect: the ₹39,900 figure is a reported launch price for the new generation, while ₹25,900 and ₹31,900 are official store prices for the older generation. Apple’s final fourth-generation configurations, storage options and SKU details could change the value calculation.

Siri AI does not require the newest box
If your main reason for upgrading is Apple’s Siri AI beta, waiting is reasonable. Apple’s compatibility statement includes the second-generation Apple TV 4K and later. The new model’s exclusive Siri advantage is the hands-free experience provided by its microphones, not basic Siri AI access.
The performance claim still needs independent testing
“Up to 50 percent faster CPU” and “up to 2x faster GPU” describe Apple’s own testing and comparison. They do not establish how much faster menus, streaming apps or games will feel in real homes. Until independent testing is available, buyers should treat those numbers as specifications to evaluate, not measured guarantees.

- Hands-free voice users: The three far-field microphones are useful if you frequently control playback, search or smart-home functions from a distance.
- People replacing an older or sluggish box: The A19 and Apple’s claimed performance gains may provide more headroom for games and future software.
- AV1-heavy streamers: The dedicated decoder could reduce bandwidth use when a service supplies compatible AV1 video.
- Remote misplacers: Find My and Precision Finding may be worth more to you than a faster processor, especially if your existing Apple TV remains responsive.
- HomePod enthusiasts: Apple’s most immersive surround arrangement pairs the new Apple TV 4K with four HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers. That is an optional, potentially expensive setup—not a requirement for normal streaming.
Who should wait?
- If your current Apple TV 4K already streams reliably in 4K HDR and responds quickly.
- If Siri AI is your only motivation, because Apple supports it on second-generation and later Apple TV 4K models.
- If you want to compare the official India configuration before spending ₹39,900.
- If you only want a remote that is easier to find; the new Siri Remote is compatible with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K and can be purchased separately.
What to verify before ordering in India
- Check Apple’s India store after November 13 for the official fourth-generation product page, storage options, connectivity and SKU details.
- Confirm whether ₹39,900 applies to the configuration you want and whether the price is recurring rather than promotional.
- Check your television and receiver for the required HDMI connection. Apple’s India buying guidance says HDMI is sold separately and recommends a Dolby Vision-compatible HDMI cable for 4K HDR streaming.
- Confirm Siri AI language and regional availability if you plan to use features beyond conventional voice commands.
- Consider the standalone remote if Find My is your primary requirement.
The practical verdict
At a reported ₹39,900, the Apple TV 4K (2026) is an upgrade for specific needs, not an automatic replacement for every existing Apple TV. Hands-free Siri, AV1 decoding, the A19 chip and the Find My remote are meaningful additions. However, the current third-generation model already supports the major picture, audio and streaming standards, and Siri AI beta extends back to the second generation. I would wait for the official Indian listing and independent performance testing unless one of those new hardware features solves a problem you actually have.
